Non-lethal Weapons Why So Hard To Buy

Why are Non-Lethal Weapons Unethical?

Hi im doing a research paper and so far i have not been able to find sources containing the above question. PLEASE HELP.

include: your source and non-lethal weapon.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How bad are my non lethal weapons?

i picked up a taser and a pepper spray. they totaled to about 25 dollars. the spray was 5. i know very well they probably suck. but they are a lot better than the ones i had yesterday. meaning i didnt have tasers or pepper spray. one is called a lava stun, and has the words 3.5 mil on it. it charges on some extending power outlet prongs and just zaps someone.

the spray is "dragon fire red pepper defense spray". there are only 11 grams and "17%" whatever is in there. tiny. pink leather case. i know i know.

i realize they are bad. what i want to know is exactly how bad.

please dont exaggerate. a .22lr will do some great damage, it can kill, and most civilians wont just get mad and beat you with your gun. id still prefer a 9mm or a .45, but .22 is not worthless. similarly, how bad is this spray and this zapper

Why can't cops switch to 100% non-lethal weapons?

When there are other ways to deal with dangerous people such as rubber bullets, tasers, smoke grenades, etc...They still continue to use guns even though they use these non-lethal weapons as well. So why can't they just use the non-lethals 100% of the time? Why not use tranquilizer guns instead of rifles?

What's the most lethal military weapon that a civilian can own?

A lot of interesting answers but only one or two really address the question. The original questions asks:What’s the most lethal military weapon that a civilian can own?The question didn’t specify a country.Depending on your locale, you may have to obtain a license to own the weapon, however, all administrative tasks aside, here are a few ideas:Buy a tank. Yes, a real tank. Drive it around, have fun and when it breaks, whip out that fat checkbook to fix it.Buy a fighter jet. Sure, why not. Depending on who you deal with and how much money you have, you surely can obtain a military grade fighter jet along with armaments. Keeping it fueled up and ready for the fight will be very difficult. Some buy trainers like the L39.Buy a flame thrower. Nothing is seemingly more horrible than roasting people to death. Lethal in my mind. You can get some pretty good deals if you look hard enough.Old Russian Armaments. Southeast Asia (think the ‘stans) are littered with a plethora of old Russian arms like RPGs, AK-47s. You can take a flight to Kyrgyzstan or any of the others and with some discreet networking, find what you seek.If you overlay the licensing requirements then some of the fun is taken out. For example, the tank will most likely be made inoperable. So, it may be able to be driven, but no shooting. Where’s the fun in that? Same thing with the jet. Plus, the parts to maintain these relics may be difficult if not impossible. And some, like the flame thrower, have storage challenges. Where are you gonna store all of that highly flammable stuff? In your garage?Keep in mind that war weapons, machine guns and other paraphernalia is likely highly illegal, non-permissible or otherwise not available to many people in many countries.Barring these issues, the next best thing is to enlist in the Army (insert favorite service here), go get some weapons training and have some fun at it (safely).UPDATE: I had another thought when I was finished relating to the fighter jet.. these planes are not easy to fly and require in almost every single case, very specialized initial training and recurrent training. Some required by the aviation authority (FAA - type rating) and others by insurance.Good Luck!

What non lethal weapons are aloud in NY state?

nonlethal weapons may be aloud or aquiet.

Your question is otherwise unclear too.
Do you mean for concealed carry?
What type weapon do you have in mind?

Do you consider non-lethal weapons a viable option for home defence?

The question, as asked by Ian Ryan, at the time of answering is:“Do you consider non-lethal weapons a viable option for home defence?”No, I do not consider non-lethal weapons a viable option for home defense. When you evaluate the situations that would precipitate the necessity of defending ones self in the home the use of non-lethal force need to be evaluated in their efficacy. Here are a few common non-lethal defense options:Stun gun - requires close proximity to the assailant. Thick clothing will dampen the effects, you may inflict collateral damage on yourself by improper use.Taser - a stun gun with some distance capability. Thick clothing is an absolutely effective defense as the barbs won’t contact skin preventing the shock from being deliveredOC (pepper) spray - short range, potential for blow-back causing some incapacitation to the user.Martial arts - we are not Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Steven Seagal, or Chuck Norris.Non-lethal would be great if I knew it would absolutely positively protect me and/or my loved ones.Unfortunately that is NOT the case.Further you need to consider the following information from a CDC reportA different issue is whether defensive uses of guns, however numerous or rare they may be, are effective in preventing injury to the gun-wielding crime victim. Studies that directly assessed the effect of actual defensive uses of guns (i.e., incidents in which a gun was “used” by the crime victim in the sense of attacking or threatening an offender) have found consistently lower injury rates among gun-using crime victims compared with victims who used other self-protective strategies (Kleck, 1988; Kleck and DeLone, 1993; Southwick, 2000; Tark and Kleck, 2004). (emphasis added)Priorities for Research to Reduce the Threat of Firearm-Related ViolenceSuggested Citation:"Priorities for Research to Reduce the Threat of Firearm-Related Violence." Institute of Medicine and . 2013. Priorities for Research to Reduce the Threat of Firearm-Related Violence. Washington, DC: The National Academies Press. doi: 10.17226/18319.To me the statistical evidence presented by the CDC would show I am safer to use LETHAL means of self defense than non-lethal, why would I put my own health and safety at greater risk?
