Nose Piercing Is Sore

Why is my nose piercing still sore?

Your piercing will take a few months to heal completely. Of course soreness at this point is normal. It's still a fresh piercing.

And please stop covering it in concealer. It is suffocating the piercing and probably creating a breeding ground for bacteria. Fresh piercings need to breathe. Also, stop cleaning it so often. Over-cleaning can and will irritate the piercing and possibly hinder healing.

My nose piercing is still pretty sore...?

Exactly 8 days ago I got my nose pierced and have been cleaning properly but right after I clean it, it's pretty sore and it hurts if someone touches it. Some days it will be sore all day. I have done exactly what I'm supposed to. Is it just healing or do I need to call my piercer? I really don't think it's infected but I want to know so that it won't get worse. Expert answers would be awesome!

My nose piercing hurts?

If it's swollen and red then I would assume it's infected, but I would also think you would mention that if that was the case. Try putting your finger up your nose, gently, and feel around where the hole would be. If the inside is swollen and not the outside, it would mean that the blood vessels or something inside your nose is inflamed around the post of the ring which is why you can't take it out, or for some reason the piercing bled previously without your noticing and because the post was in the way of the blood it sort of congealed around it. Have you ever gotten a cut or something so you just wrapped a piece of cloth or whatever around it to stop the bleeding and then when you take it off later it hurts like h***? Same concept. I would definitely go back to the piercing parlor or head to the doctor's to get it checked out, but if you can't do that immediately, I would try putting whatever you used to clean the piercing when you first got it on it so that in case it is an infection then it will start helping a little ahead of time. And even if it's not an infection, if there's something wrong around your nose that means that your more susceptible to infection there right now, so the solution will at least help prevent that from happening as well. Besides, what harm can it do?

My nose piercing feels sore?

I got a nose stud in yesterday and while it didnt hurt immediatly afterwards, it just feels sore now.
its not extremely painful, just uncomfortable and sore :( I was told not to touch it for 24hrs..which its been now and then to use the cleaning solution they gave me THREE times a day.
It also hurts alot when pulling any type of facial expression or when I breathe and my nostrils move lmao
Why so sore?

My recent nose piercing is red and sore. Is this okay?

Soreness and redness are normal for the first week of a nostril piercing. Just wash it twice daily with a liquid unscented antibacterial soap and water. You can also use H2Ocean, sterile saline wound wash (not cantact saline) or sea salt soaks.
No rubbing alcohol as that will just dry out a piercing
No hydrogen peroxide same reason
No Neosporin it can cause jewelry to reject

My nose piercing still hurts and is red is this normal?

You had a needle shoved though your nose. If you touch it at all, it's going to be sore. I would be more worried if it wasn't a bit sore. You're washing it properly and you're using the spray. For the first week you will have some soreness and possibly some blood, that's natural. It means it's healing. As long as you aren't in pain you should be fine. Also with thicker nostrils you could possibly feel the pain for longer than a week. If you notice any serious pain or discoloration around your nose (as in purple or yellow hues like a bruise) then I'd say take it out immediately. Otherwise it most likely isn't an infection.

As far as the scabs, that's also natural. Me and my friends call it crusties. They will also go away as you heal. Most of it is dry skin and dry blood that is trapped between the jewelry and your nose. Just take your spray and use a q-tip to clean around the edges of the piercing. Should get rid of any crusties you have.

I’ve had a nose piercing for 4 weeks and it’s still sore. Is it infected?

From the initial sound of it, it doesn't seem like it's infected, so you can relax for now.Nostril piercings (assuming it's a nostril piercing) can take a surprisingly long time to fully heal, generally said between 4-6 months, 3 if you're lucky. Everyone heals differently of course so you could be one of the lucky ones who heals faster or unlucky and have to wait it out for an extra month or two. But either way, it'll take some time so you'll need to be patient with it.So with that said, while it may seem infected due to the lengthy heal time, unless you see any other signs and symptoms of a general infected piercing then you need not worry. Notably the classic signs of infection being red and swollen area around the piercing, tender and painful to the touch or the unpleasant dark yellow/green discharge coming from the piercing itself. Not to be confused with the similar but very normal sights of a fresh and healing piercing as that too may be a little red and sore around the area as well as the normal white/yellow discharge that you might see. As I said, nostril piercings can take a while to heal and even then, the redness of the area may go away after a while but doesn't necessarily mean it's fully healed by that point. You're better off playing it safe and giving it some extra time to heal after the redness fades before trying to take it out or swap jewellery.Unless you start seeing signs of infection along the lines of what I mentioned, then you should be just fine, avoid messing with it as much as possible, don't overdo the cleaning or you risk aggravating it and doing more harm. Just keep it clean like you normal would do, relax, and give it time to let your body do its thing and hopefully it all works out for you in the future. If you're ever worried or curious how your piercing is doing then simply head down to the studio where you had it done or any tattoo/body piercing studio that looks professional and they should be happy to take a look at it for you and make sure it's okay.Best of luck!Thank you for the request, Maiyah Jones.

Why does my nose piercing itch?

Okay, so after getting a new opening put into your nose, which I figure is to put something decorative through it, because it makes you feel great and look better :) Yeah! :) Piercings! :)That tiny fistula, or hole created from the piercing is going to need to heal. Healing involves some itching. However, there are a few things to keep in mind about your nose itching. After all, there are some other reasons it could be itching. Here are some reasons…You are not cleaning your piercing enough, or are cleaning it too much. Super harsh cleansers can dry out your piercing and the surrounding skin. Not cleaning your piercing enough leaves lots of dead skin cell build up, oils, bacteria, and leads to ITCHING. Balance with cleaning your piercings regularly during the preliminary and secondary healing times are key to success. You may having an allergic reaction to the jewelry. If you went to a respectable APP certified piercer [1]to get your nose piercing done, most likely you were outfitted with a high level of quality jewelry, which should not cause skin irritation, trigger allergies, or cause problems with your piercing healing.Case in point, some jewelry is externally threaded, and when you pull out the piercing jewelry to change it, or fiddle around with it to clean, those threads can cause microscopic tears to the surrounding tissues of your healing or healed fistula (aka piercing hole). CHEAP JEWELRY AIN’T GOOD FOR A REASON. And all piercers are not created equal. So back to the itching…. Chances are your jewelry is not the culprit, but if you are experiencing redness, swelling, or oozing at site…. or more innocently, you always find that your nose itches when wearing a certain nose stud, hoop, or other form of jewelry in your nose… You might want to look into your choice of jewelry.Give your body enough time to heal[2], before you change your jewelry, or jump to conclusions. Usually LITFA method works well, not stressing out, and letting things run their course. If it’s fresh it needs time to heal and will itch. If it’s an older piercing, you might just need to clean it, or change up your jewelry. And lastly, your skin is covered with microscopic critters[3], no matter how clean you are… so sometimes skin and piercing sites are just going to itch.Don’t panic!Footnotes[1] Association of Professional Piercers[2] Nostril Piercing[3] These microscopic mites live on your face

Nose piercing still hurts after 3 years ??!?

I don't think I let my nose piercing heal right... I take it out to clean my face and whenever I insert it back in it always bleeds and hurts. Should I just let it close up ?

3 days after my nose piercing it's swollen sore and red?!?

I got my nose pierced Thursday, and it is now Sunday. My piercer told me to use dial foam soap to clean it, but I'm thinking about using non-iodized salt w/ warm water, because that's what I read about. It was never sore or red or swollen until today (the third day) & I'm really worried it's infected or these are early signs of an infection? When I flare my nostrils it hurts. The area around my nose ring is a little red. & the nose piercing is swollen & looks like the stud on the nose ring is sinking in, & I keep having to use a Q-tip to push the stud back out. Is this normal? Or is it an infection? PLEASE HELP!
