Not Forwarding Our New Address When We Move Can We Do This

Do W-2 forms get forwarded if I didn't update my address at the company I work at?

I moved a couple of months ago, and didn't get around to changing my address at work. However, I did change my address through USPS. So any mail sent to my old address gets sent to my new one.

So, do they also forward W-2 forms, or are those "Do not Forward" or something? My co-workers have gotten theirs, and mine is still missing.

Thanks.

If I accidentally gave landlord wrong forwarding address, can I ask him to resend security deposit?

I realized that I may have accidentally messed up 2 numbers in our new address (forwarding address) that I gave to our landlord.

In the event that he said he has already sent the check with our security deposit (it's been over 21 days now and we were not under lease), are we able to ask him to send another one to the new address? Will he have to comply?

When we did the final walk through of the house, there was only one minor thing wrong, so we are expecting a big portion of our $775 deposit back. Our landlord was not a good landlord, and if he tries to say we broke other things that we have proof that we didn't (we took over 150 pictures before moving in), what can we do?

I relocated and changed my forwarding address on USPS. Will it help if the sender says Amazon, and it ships via FedEx or UPS?

While the previous answers are correct, there is one option that will allow items sent by non postal carriers to get forwarded to your new address. On items sent as “last mile of delivery”, non postal carriers, such as FED EX or UPS accept the item from Amazon, and send it to the destination Post Office, where these packages are actually delivered through the Post Office. When these items cannot be delivered, they are either returned to the sender or forwarded through the Post Office, if they are forwardable. Usually, these items are sent with the cheapest rate possible, and are not forwardable. If returned to the sender, they will be sent back through the Post Office as a postage due item. This should not happen, unless you move on the day you order your Amazon package, as these items come very quickly.

What happens after your mail forwarding expires with USPS? Will I still be able to receive mail at home or will it automatically be put in my PO Box?

You need to officially change your address with the local post office before your mail forwarding expires. Otherwise, the mail won’t be forwarded and will either be sent back to the sender to destroyed (thrown in the trash). Take care of this detail and make sure that if you had a mail forwarding, then contact those who are using your previous address and UPDATE THEM on your new address and to have all mail sent to the new address only, not the old one. The purpose of mail forwarding is to GIVE YOU TIME to do just this. If you haven’t done it, then you are in some trouble until you clear it with all those important letters that you might receive (like credit card or bank statements). Tackle those first…and work your way to less important things. It takes time and a lot of effort, but you will get your mail as you should at your new address.

Do I need to give my new address to my old landlord?

I'm moving into my new apartment tomorrow but my lease doesn't run out until the 31st. The landlord sends me a text saying, "Pls give me your new address and let me know when you are turning in your keys so I know when I can get in and c what I might want to do and show it. Thanks."
I was just planning on leaving the keys in the apartment when I left between the 26th-28th She can technically come in whenever she wants but I really don't feel like I need to give her my new address.

When I try to change my address via USPS, the system always thinks my billing address is wrong, but it's not! Has anybody else had this issue? Is there a way to fix it?

This is going to sound strange-- but the postal service is big on abbreviations. The address-system is a computer --so it has no 'judgement'.For instance-- say your billing address is123 South Maple St Anywhere, Kentucky, 12345The system might write that address as123 South Maple St.or (more likely) 123 S. Maple St. Are you using the exact address that is printed on your billing STATEMENT from that credit/ debit card ?

Why does my ex-wife get mail in my name at her new address?

It could be when she filled out a change of address form, she put a last name but didn't fill out a specific first name. If you don't put in one first name and check individual it will forward everyones mail with that last name. if the mail is direct addressed and not forwarded, it just means that the companies requested the address change directly from the post office.
It doesn't mean that she has done anything or is planning on doing anything sneaky.

I had the same problem when I moved to Alabama from Ohio. My father in law lived with us in Ohio and when we moved I filled out the change of address for family and we have been getting mail for him for the last 4 years now at 3 different addresses in Alabama and he has never left Ohio. It sucks.. but what can you do?

If you and your ex are pleasant just ask her to either give you the mail, or mark "Not this address, Return to sender" on everything she receives for you.

How would a non-profit organization know my new address? Would the post office change it for me?

I've always received a free newsletter from a non-profit organization. The top right corner always says "nonprofit organization u.s. postage paid". I recently moved, and had not gotten around to telling the organization my new address.

However, Friday I received their newsletter WITHOUT the forwarding yellow sticker on the envelope. Instead there was a white sticker over my old address with my new address written on it,. It also looked like a black marker was used to place a dot next to the barcode beneath my old address which was covered.

How would this organization have obtained my new address without my telling them? Would the post office have done this, or is it possible someone at my old address received my mail and did this? I recently moved out of a condo, that was put up for sale by the owner, and I never gave the owner my new address because I didn't want her to have it. So I'd like to know if she may have done this. Can't see any other way. Thanks
