Not Losing Weight On 1300 Calories

Can I lose weight by eating 1,300 calories a day?

Yes, but you’ll have a harder time than eating 1600cals. (Assuming you are a 70kg, sedentary person; if you are a 150cm 50kg person, you are still in the good range with 1300, even if it’s for a hair). What? How can that be?Because with 1300–1200, you’ll put your body eventually in starvation mode. And in starvation mode, well, your body consume much less energy. Is a save mode. It makes you less energetic, moodier, lowers your defenses and crush your libido. All that are system shutting down. The secret to losing fat is eating 500cals less than your maintenance calories. That is around 1600 cals for a standard person (70Kg sedentary). That puts you in a deficit good enough to lose fat, but no strong enough to raise metabolic elasticity (starvation mode).Go to low in the caloric intake, and your body is going agaisnt you, because you are lowering your metabolism… and your losing of weight will be always relative to your metabolism. The greater ΔVo is, most weight will you lose, that is… the greater your total volume of Oxygen breathed in a given time, the greater weight you’ll lose.Because you lose weight brething. Each 02 molecule you inhale will be exhaled as one molecule of CO2. That carbon atom is the weight you lose.80% of weight loss is through the breath. Surprise! That’s why you also need exercise: to enhance your breathing rate (not only for the duration, but your metabolic base rate) and lose weight faster. And eating 1300 cals (except if you are a 50kg-150cm kind of guy) will slow your metabolism, your breath, and as such, by basic conservation of mass, your weight loss.Weight loss is a compromise between raise your metabolic level and lower your calorie input. Going to extremes in caloric intake never, ever, works.

I'm eating 1300 calories a day but not losing weight?

There are two ways to calculate calories when you are losing weight.
You are eating below you BMR (basal metabolic rate), which is the amount of cals your body burns if you slept all day. It is the amount you need to for your body to survive. Your BMR, based on your age, height and weight is 1548 calories (this seems like a lot, but you are a teenager and it is higher when you are younger).

So, because you are eating BELOW your BMR you need to make sure you eat back your exercise calories (at least half of them). So, if you are burning 400 calories a day exercising, you need to be eating 1300 + 200 = 1500 cals.

I find the above way confusing and I hate having to calculate how many exercise calories to eat...

SO I use the other method to count calories and lose weight: using you TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). Your TDEE is 2128 calories a day. To lose weight doctors recommend you eat 20% less then you TDEE, so you would be eating around 1700 calories a day. TDEE takes into account how active you are (I said you work out 3x a week) so you don't have to eat back your exercise calories.

Long story short, to lose weight you are supposed to eat ABOVE your BMR (1548) and BELOW your TDEE (2128). If you eat BELOW your BMR without eating your exercise calories, you are going into what many people call "starvation mode". "Starvation mode" is an inaccurate as it is more of a "nutrient deficient mode". Your body is a biological machine that requires nutrients to run. When you give it less than it needs to run (ie. below your BMR) it starts to worry and holds onto all the nutrients it can (ie. fat). This usually results in weight loss at first, but then you stop losing weight.

Hope this helps,

Why am I not losing weight when I burn 1300+ calories daily by walking and riding a stationary bike?

one of the biggest issues most people have when exercising is that they do not like to feel discomfort and avoid it with every fiber of their being.  this is why walking and riding stationary bikes has become so popular.  it gives the user a sense that they are actually doing something, when in reality, it's not doing much.  walking is something people should do every day, just to remain remotely healthy.  if you want to lose weight however, you have to stop avoiding the discomfort and start doing what needs to be done, in this case, raise your heart rate.  sweat, run out of breathe, feel like you'd rather die than do one more step.  this means doing things like HIIT (high intensity interval training), like sprinting as fast as you can for 1 minutes, bringing it down to a slight jog for 5 minutes, sprinting again for 1 minutes, etc etc. this not only forces your body to up it's heart rate which does a number of good things, one of which is raise your basal metabolism over time, but it also reduces the amount of time you need to spend in the gym. if you are older or have leg issues, you can swim and do the same thing.  there's always a solution for most people regardless of age and condition.i hope this helps you.  drop the walking and stationary biking. instead, do 20-30 minutes of HIIT and if you are able to, lift weights.  combine that with a healthy balanced diet, and you've discovered the absolute best way to lose weight.

I'm 14 years old. Why am I not losing enough weight at 1300 calories per day?

It is a little bit shocking to see a 14 yr old worrying about their weight. If you are very obese then yes you are doing the right thing by trying to lose weight.Where did you get the number 1300 calories per day from ?Losing weight all depends on how you feel. If you feel weak and crappy on 1300 calories per day, try and up the calories. There is no set amount for everyone. Everyones body type is the not the same.Your body burns calories and uses calories different to another person your age, that is another piece of the puzzle you must figure out.Are you over training or under training. That is another factor you must look at. When starting to exercise you must start very slowly. A short walk daily is a great start, then build up the speed and distance. If you feel tired the next day, rest and reduce the distance or speed next time.If you give me more information, I can try and help more. Hope what I have said helps you.Education is key. There is no quick fix to losing weight, no magic pills. Just a simple formula. Burn more than you consume.

Is 1300 calories per day too much for me to lose weight?

In my opinion, you shouldn’t be dieting this hard, you are still in your 20s so your body needs to have a good intake of food. But if you were to diet, I would definitely recommend you to follow the steps bellow.First step, setting you goal: Lose weight, gain weight, maintain weight.Step two, how are you going to reach your objective? Dieting solely or adding physical exercise?Third step, according to how you decided to reach your goal, use an online calculator ta calculate what calorie intake you should have per day. I use this one Calorie Calculator.Third and a half step, if you really want to be very rigurous about the diet, you should calculate your macros per day (protein, carbs, fats) it will take you a while but once you get used to it, it gets much easier.Fourth step, be creative, start with something simple, like 3 meals + 2 snacks and change it, and change it, and change it until it fits you and your program best.No doctor or nutritionist will ever be able to give you a better diet than the one you craft yourself. Try to stay in a calorie deficit but not so big! Results will come over time! This is my daily menu of 2400/2500 caloriesBreakfast (6 am)Eggs, ham, cheese, tomatoesSnack (10 am)Fruit smoothieLunch (12:30 pm)SoupChicken meat/ beef meat with vegetablesSnack no 2 (3:30 pm)2.2% yogurt + nuts (almonds, cashew, walnuts)Dinner (6:30 pm)Fish + vegetables orPasta with vegetable sauce orBrown rice with meatGood luck!

Why if I eat less than 1,300 calories a day? Don’t I lose weight but instead, gain?

What I think it would depend on is your BMR (Basic Metabolic Rate).BMR is the rate which your body burns calories just for you being alive. So for example, if you lay in bed for 24 hours and don't move, this is how many calories you burn in that time. You can easily google “BMR calculator” to find out an estimate on how many calories you should be consuming each day.Once you figure out what your calorie intake should be then you can change your diet and/or exercise to match it. If you're a heavier person then your BMR will be higher than that of a lighter person. Age, height and sex all factor into this as well.If you're only consuming 1,300 calories a day and still putting on weight then the only 2 things I can see happening is either that you're really skinny or that you aren't counting your calories correctly. For example, people don't tend to count extra things they add to meals like sauces because they don't think sauces are high in calories but sadly they really are.If you check your BMR and its much higher then I suggest you speak to a professional/doctor and get everything checked out.Upvote if you think I deserve it. It'll give me more motivation to answer more questions.Cheers.

Would I still lose weight if I consumed only 1300 calories of sugar each day?

This is a really common question when it comes to weight loss. We often hear that if you have a caloric deficit (you burn more calories than you consume), then you will lose weight.Unfortunately, this leads to a problem. We assume then that all we have to do to lose weight and achieve our fitness goals, is to reduce the number of calories we eat. This is not true. While you may lose some weight, it will NOT give you the results you are looking for.The body is an extremely complicated system, and needs a variety of different types of nutrients to survive. If a majority of your calories were to come from sugar, you body would panic. You would be lacking other essential macromolecules, like fats and proteins.Nutritional deficiencies come about when you arent getting enough to eat, or if you arent eating the right types of foods.A lack of protein caused many diseases in the past that resulted in many long term damages to health, and was a huge cause of death.A lack of fat can cause many problems, as a lot of vitamins are absorbed through fat into the body. A lack of fat in your diet can cause many problems (from skin, to vision, to cognitive function). So overall, living off a diet with just sugar for your calories, even if youre on a deficit, would damage your body critically. This is just the start of the problems. There are many other physiological and psychological problems associated with this kind of diet that will lead to really negative outcomes. Two big ones include:Blood Sugar Spikes: Sugar enters the blood stream rapidly, and so a high load of sugar would shock your blood sugar with huge fluctuations. This may affect the way insulin works, making your body resistant to it. Some studies have suggested these spikes in blood sugar can increase the risk of diabetes and other non communicable diseases (Read here: The Glycemic Index)Binge Eating: Sugar-based foods are not that filling, increasing the risk of binge eating and eating other things that will put you way over in regards to calories. So overall, if youre looking to live a healthy lifestyle, do not consume the majority of your calories through sugar - even if its on a caloric deficit.Doing so will likely cause your body to resemble that of the malnourished before the agricultural revolution, and will not help you lose fat. You will also have many other negative side effects, and likely feel miserable in the long and short run.Hope this helps. If you have any questions, dont hesitate to ask :)

Will I lose weight eating 1300 calories a day and exercising an hour a day?

But in my opinion, I don't think you need to lose any more weight:) you could tone up though?! Good luck:D

Eating under 1300 calories?

So I'm trying to lose weight. I looked and studied to see how many calories I should eat in order to lose. When I'm not focused on my diet I'll eat over 1300 but when I do focus I'll eat under 1300.

Is it safe to eat under so many calories everyday?
