How did the united states expand its navy so quickly in World War 1?
Given that the U.S. didn't enter the war until near the end it was not using up the resources that the other nations were in actual fighting. The biggest factor however was that the U.S. had plenty of resources and it's industries, including the ship-building sector was able to build as much as it wanted to. Even once the U.S. was in the war it's industries and cities were so removed from the actual war zones that they could keep producing without themselves being threatened. And this is also why the U.S. became the major power it did in WW2 and the subsequent economic superpower that it is today.
