Oil Leak On 7.3 Powerstroke

Is 210,000-300,000 alot of miles for a 2001 ford f350 7.3 powerstroke diesel?

im looking at buying onw with this amount of miles i dont remember what he said about how many miles are on it between 210,000 and 3000,000 is that to much of miles to waste money on

7.3L Powerstroke Diesel?

I was wondering if anyone knew about how much life is in these engines. I realize that it matters what it has been towing, driving style, highway vs. city miles, overall regulatory maintenance on the tuck, and if anything has been rebuilt on the truck. I am looking at a 2002 ford F250 4x4 single cab long bed for $5,000 the only downfall is that it currently has 400,000 miles on it. I really like this truck and love the 7.3s, but all I know about it is that most of them are highway miles. Just wondering if anyone has more information based on personal or secondhand experience.

What is the best oil for my 7.3 powerstroke?

I have a 1999 F-350 with a 7.3 Powerstroke, and I'm at 260,000 miles . I want to know what brand and weight oil I should put in it. i was thinking royal purple 15w40...... and I also have the bypass oil filtering system so what oil filters should I use as well?

7.3l Powerstroke Oil Leak (Valley wet)?

I had the same thing happen to my 96 F250....but I cant remember exactly what it was, but it was PORING oil. I want to say it was a seal/gasket or something like a freeze plug right there in the valley.

Just FYI, the only way oil is suppose to get into our engines is the ccv, just about a foot or two into the intake.....before the turbo. You may notice the "Y" pipe being oily and thats why. Some people put a Racor mod filter on it so they dont blow an gaskets, and others just vent it out behind the truck. The other ways you'd get oil in the engine is if your turbo starts to go out.

Take it to a mechanic shop and have them to check it out.

Man, my 03 6 powerstroke just died while driving it. replaced f filter didn't work. help please.?

DO NOT start "throwing parts" at it!!! This particular engine requires NUMEROUS operating parameters to be met, in order to achieve an engine that starts and runs. You mention it is an '03 6.0L, which means your ICP sensor is st the BACK of the engine. Do you have any oil leaks that you are aware of? 2003 model year engines were notorious for ICP sensors blowing through, and leaking oil. This will most certainly cause a no-start condition. You mentioned replacing the fuel FILTER. Are you aware there are TWO? Has the HCFM (Horizontal Fuel Conditioning Module, on the driver side framerail) been drained of water regularly? If not, corrosion could have set in, causing an eventual v-ref. short-to-ground. This will also definitely cause a no-start condition. How about regular oil changes? Do you use the proper Ford/Motorcraft FL-2016 oil filter? Aftermarket, or no-name brand oil filters have been known to cause no-start/hard-start conditions on these engines due to the slight difference in oil filter dimensions? Cam and crank sensors on this particular engine almost NEVER fail, unlike the 7.3L engine it replaced. On a 6.0L Powerstroke, the following parameters have to met, to achieve a starting and running engine:
-ICP (Injector Control Pressure) while cranking, to reach 500 PSI
-Battery voltage to decrease to no less than 9.0 volts while cranking engine.
-minimum engine cranking RPM 200.
-FICM (Fuel Injection Control Module) to be "seen" by PCM (Powertrain Control Module) during engine cranking to be SYNC = YES.
With that said, you are better off bringing it to a Ford dealer THAT HAS A DIESEL CERTIFIED TECH to diagnose it. If your truck is still within 5 years/100,000 miles it should still be covered under warranty anyways.

02 7.3 Powerstroke Oil Pan Gasket or Sealant?

I changed out my oil pan 2 years ago and used black RTV gasket maker from napa and it leaks a bit so im pulling the motor again to re-do it. Does anybody know of a company that makes a gasket aftermarket? Ford uses a gasket sealant and not a gasket. Iv checked with napa, advanced auto, autozone and Ford and no-one offers one. If no one makes a gasket any ideas of a better sealant than black rtv?

Where do I spray the Ether to start a 7.3 ford powerstroke on a 2000 Excursion?

Stupid question, but did you fill it with GASOLINE, or DIESEL? If it's with gasoline, sorry to say, but you've just hooped yourself BIG TIME!!!!! Like the other two posts NEVER use ether. And yes it could literally blow up!!!! The only common cause for no-starts on these engines is either low ICP pressure, or a missing cam sensor input. Does the tach needle move when you crank the engine? If it does, your cam sensor is working. Are you getting fuel? If you pull the water separator drain (yellow lever) and fuel does drain, it means you're getting fuel.

My 2002 F250 keeps leaking diesel from the starter and the flywheel cover ,,it started with drops?

Sounds like you have a broken fuel delivery or return line. If you can't see the leak when the engine is running, take the truck to an auto repair shop ASAP before your burn the truck up.

What causes oil to blow by the dipstick?

If you are lucky, it is just a stuck PCV, which sometimes can be cleaned, but can be replaced for under $10 in most cars without disassembling anything (valve is at one end of the tube from the engine (often valve cover) to the intake. This valve allows air to be sucked out of the oil pan to create a slight vacuum and help reduce oil consumption. This valve is on most cars since the mid-1960’s.Some have said a bad o-ring on the dip stick, but many cars do not have one to go bad.But more seriously, it is a worn engine or stuck rings from not changing your oil on time or not using a thermostat. If the rings can’t push out (from the pressure of the combustion), the combustion gasses will “blow-by” the rings into the oil pan and out the oil filler or dip stick. You could have also caused it by using oil thicker than recommended in your manual, reducing lubrication on startup and in general.

What will cause diesel to leak into the oil and fill the sump after some few hours of running?

The only way to get an accurate answer is foryou to state the make, model, year and type of engine or engine code; filling up the sump with diesel is serious; The problem can be a simple diesel line that is leaking (easier fix),and it can be leaking (internal) injectors,(or injectors-pump),or pump, which is more costly to repair; in any event ,if the sump tends to fill,it MUST be stopped and repaired; (i’d say it’s equivalent to a person having an hemmorhagic stroke).
