Okay This Is Ironic But How To View The

Isn't it ironic that it's okay to butcher pigs for meat but treat dogs like family? Both species have the capacity for affection and for feeling pain but are treated in stark contrast.

Yes it is indeed ironic. Humans are irrational.

Isnt it Ironic that the Lakers and Vikings have the same color and the Lakers are from Minnesota (Minneapolis)?

Why would either team want purple and gold, there's irony right there.
Ok, seriously, maybe at the time the 2 teams wanted to be connected through color to represent Minnesota and be recognizable as teams from Minnesota. But still, purple and gold?

Twilight and True Blood: Isn't this ironic?

Ironic, yes. But True Blood is based on a series of books by Charlaine Harris that has been around longer than Twilight and is better written than Twilight. I heard about True Blood more than a year ago, before I heard of Twilight. If anything, Stephenie Meyer copied Charlaine Harris.

Is it okay for an adult to like Spongebob?

I'm 24 years old, and I think the first 3 seasons of Spongebob are comic gold. (Everything after that is crap.) And I feel like many of the jokes (whether they contain hidden innuendo or not) are targeted at adults.

Take for example this joke from an episode. Spongebob's afraid of getting beat up by a bully. He laments: "There are so many things in life I haven't gotten to do!" We then see like a two-second vision of him working at a call center and cheerfully transferring someone's call. It's an ironic and pessimistic (and hilarious) view of the life your average adult has to look forward to. As a kid, I never understood that joke, but as an adult, I find it super funny.

But someone challenge me on this. Am I a child for liking this show? Is Spongebob a brainless show?

Why is a hammer-and-sickle funny, cool and ironic when a swastika isn't?

It comes down to the definition of each, which is what the symbols are thought to represent. One is more evil than the other, by definition (not necessarily by action). I am not saying the actions of man in the name of either system is worse or "worser" but if you think about just the intent of each...Nazism - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazism :Nazism was the ideology and practice of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (or Nazi Party) and of Nazi Germany.[2][3][4][5] It is a unique variety of fascism that incorporates biological racism and antisemitism.[6]Communism - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Com... :Communism is a sociopolitical movement that aims for a classless and stateless society structured upon common ownership of the means of production, free access to articles of consumption, and the end of wage labour and private property in the means of production and real estate.So...It is cool/acceptable to be "sociopolitical" and "classless" and "free access".It is not cool/acceptable to be "fascist" and "racist" and "antisemitic".

HW Help>>Irony in Lord of the Flies? (BA=10pts)?

okay, now we have to read this stupid book (no offense if you like it, i personally don't care for it...) for our stupid communications class...(don't really care for that either...)

so anyways... yeah, well we gotta write a constructed response on the irony of LOTF... so our teacher gave us a few options, and one boy found another, and i was wondering if you could help me think of another, or just branch off on one of them... kay?
>> Jack being the one to set the island on fire (not sure i get that one)
>> a "semicircle of little boys" (something about going from savages to innocent victims...)
>> the naval officer dude said both "fun and games" and "having a war?" to describe the situation
>> (the kid thought of this one) Roger went from being the one to sugest they vote for a leader (symbolizes civility) to being one of the biggest savages...

kay, thanks for your help, and i need it by tonight! 10 pts to best answerer!!!!
toodles! ♥ ya!

Weird things more like ironic things happening all at once?

OH MY GOD YES THIS HAPPENS TO ME ALL THE TIME!!!
Like once for example I ate apple pie after dinner then the next morning a friend started talking about apple pie and then that afternoon someone else started saying how they made an apple pie but it was really bad.
Also I was watching some movie or another, a fairly oldish one and they played some song (once again a fairly old song) I don't know the name of, then I heard someone singing it in the afternoon and the next day I heard it one the radio.
I have MANY more examples where those came from, some of them are stranger than the apple pie one,and the song one but I can't think of any at the moment
Anyway, I honestly think it is just a coincidence, I mean I'm still alive, so no you won't die.
There is some confusing maths theory and equations about coincidence and stuff but don't worry it is natural. I think the math thingy says that it will happen every now and then to everyone.

Do you find it strangely ironic that (in India) while public peeing and defecation is still legal, public kissing isn't?

ABOUT KISSING NOT BEING LEGALWe tend to blame everything on westernisation. Kissing is an imported trend (Khajuraho is endemic, Indians were never too bold to kiss) but peeing and defecation in public has been here since long.It is not strangely ironic; it is just another example of the hypocrisy of Indian people that we selectively blame certain things on western influence and ignore other things being native.Even if the statutory bodies try to frame a law, opposition from several self appointed moral policemen becomes prominent. But there has been progress or call it conscious ignorance. Kisses at airports, restaurants and beaches have become not so bothering now.ABOUT DEFECATION & PEEINGIndia is widely uneducated (not illiterate). The Government is having a hard time to instil the idea of social hygiene to masses. We are taking help from Vidya Balan and Sachin Tendulkar to teach masses that they need to dump in closed places. But there has been progress - e.g. wife moved out of the house because husband failed to provide her toilet. But making it illegal will be impossible, at least recently. Because the moment you pass the bill of the law in parliament, there will be millions of people who just did something illegal. Moreover, our judiciary is very very slow. Here is an interesting read - CULTURE DECAY 1 & 2 at F L A W S O P H Y

Does anyone find this ironic (re Ted "the dead" Kennedy)?

Teddy is probably sitting in his little corner of hell with a direct view of Mary Jo in heaven. And a bottle of whiskey sitting just out of his reach!
