Once You Get Your Tonsils Out Because Of Tonsil Stones Will The Stones Come Back

Should I get my tonsils remove because of tonsil stones?

yes i would highly recommend getting your tonsils out due to tonsil stones.
yes its pretty common.
i had tonsil stones for 10yrs before i had mine out. that was in 2009 when i was 23 and i haven't had a problem since.
i was like you with the brushing like crazy and it never helped. i don't have bad breath now. so tonsil stones is definitely whats causing your bad breath.

i suggest going to see an ENT (ear nose and throat dr) since they are the ones that determine if you should get them out and they will most likely tell you that your reasons for wanting them out are valid.

Can you have your tonsils removed if you have tonsil stones.?

yep you can and in fact i just had a tonsillectomy 4 weeks ago because i've had tonsil stones since i was 12 (i'm 23 now) and in the last couple years they have just gotten to the point that i couldn't stand it anymore. my throat was always sore, i had bad breath, i felt like something was back there, i'd cough a lot, and i'd clear my throat ALL THE TIME. (just the clearing my throat part was an annoying enough sound to make me want my tonsils out lol).

when i went to the ENT in july he said he only saw like one tonsil stone in each tonsil and they were pretty small but i insisted there were more. sure enough after the surgery he told me that when he cut into my tonsils there were TONS of them so it was a very good decision on my part to have them out.

most regular drs will say there is no need to take out your tonsils and tonsil stones are nothing to be bothered by (but it seems like they haven't experienced what i did for 11 yrs of my life)
i would skip the regular dr and head straight to the ENT.

**edit**
"maya" sorry to say but you are completely off the mark here.
first of all tonsil stones doesn't just mean your tonsils are inflamed! tonsil stones are little peices of food that get stuck in your tonsils.
and NO the holes will not just heal themselves. they get bigger allowing for more to get stuck in there and if you can get the tonsil stone out it will get embedded in your tonsil.

Tonsillectomy and tonsil stones....?

i completely understand what you are going through. i have had tonsil stones (for those who have no clue what it is, its when tiny pieces of food gets stuck in the crypts of your tonsils) since i was 12yrs old and i'm now 23yrs old. i know how awful it can be.
i recently went to an ENT (ear, nose, and throat dr) and he said that if they were interfering with daily life then i could have my tonsils removed. well they certainly do interfere with my daily life cuz every single day i have a sore throat, i feel the need to clear my throat all the time, i constantly feel like there is something back there, and i never used to have bad breath but with in the last year or so my breath has been kickin.
i saw the ENT a couple weeks ago now and i needed some time to figure out when a good time to have the surgery would be since its a good 7-10 days before you feel "ok" and another couple weeks before you feel totally normal again.
i'm actually going to call tomorrow to schedule my surgery. i'm hoping for some time in the first half of september. i figure not too many tonsillectomy will be scheduled around that time cuz kids have just gone back to school so they will have probably had them taken out over the summer or are waiting for a school holiday to do it.

i suggest that you see an ENT and discuss your options. most people say that ENTs won't even consider a tonsillectomy for a cure for tonsil stones but mine was just all for what ever i wanted. he said he understood how annoying they are and that he certainly wouldn't want to live with them and he said the longer you wait to consider getting your tonsils out the longer it will take to heal cuz as we get older we don't heal as fast.
and i've read how its much more painful as an adult so i asked my dr if it was medically true and he said not really. he said basically adults complain more just cuz they want everyone to know that they are in pain where as kids don't want to milk it as much they just want to get back to a normal routine of playing and running around so they try not to complain about it.

Tonsil stones? Should I get my tonsils removed?

Yesterday, my throat started to feel a little funny. I thought it might have been a seed/granola stuck in there from food I ate, so I brushed well, gargled around trying to get it out, and it made my throat sore after awhile, so I stopped and went to bed. Today, I looked in the mirror because my throat was still bothering me, and I saw a white speck on my one tonsil, so I poked around at it with a Q-tip, and this piece of white nasty stuff came out, and I pressed around and got a little more. But it made my throat bleed and so I had to stop eventually. But my throat still feels like there's something back there every time I swallow, and I'm starting to get a little nauseous now. I'm pretty sure that these are what people call "tonsil stones".

So I have a few questions:
How on earth do I get rid of all of them back there, if there is more, and how will I know if I got it all?
If I do get it all, will they come back again?
If they will keep coming back, should I get my tonsils out? I'm 19, and I don't really know if I can still ( I heard you shouldn't).

I don't want to be nauseous all the time (because swallowing with them back there really messes with my gag reflex), but I don't really know what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

What are tonsils stones and what happens if you swallow them?

Tonsil stones are particles of rotting/rotted food trapped in the folds of the tonsil and acted on by the bacteria that live in your mouth and throat. You swallowed the food to begin with, and if you collect stones and debris yes you are swallowing that all the time. Some individuals carry them chronically without problems while others develop pain and infections. They can be cleaned out occasionally or a tonsillectomy is curative.

Tonsil Stones - getting tonsils removed?

I get tonsil stones all the time. They're not just small and barely noticable like a lot of people have them, but they're very large and verryy noticable. I can feel it every time I swallow, and they cause my breath to be gross, and a lot of the time when I have them it's painful to swallow while eating. I have one right now that's about 3/4 the size of my pinky fingernail.
Usually they'll come out of their own accord, but not always. I don't have problems taking care of my teeth - my last checkup was perfect - so I don't know what the problem is, and why these keep coming.
Gargling with saltwater or mouthwash does -not- help. It's super frustrating and disgusting, and nothing seems to work to stop this. I've been dealing with this for YEARS, and it's a lot more frustrating and painful than people probably realise. Is there any alternative, or should I ask my doctor to refer me to an ENT(ear, nose, throat) specialist, to see if I need my tonsils out?

Tonsil stones?

http://www.therabreath.com/badbreath/cure-tonsil-stones.html

Therabreath mouthwash (only) helped me alot you can buy it at any local Walmart,Long's Drugs,Vons,Albertons store or any medical store it really works also try using Listerine Mouthwash that helps kill the bacteria from the tonsil stones so they dont form no more it has worked for me so good i havent gotten them since August =) im so happy

and if you get them there are many homeway's to take em out you can simply try taking it out with a Earcleaner or a Mouth pik cleaner it will make you gag really crazy but you will feel better after and you will get used to it

Try eating not much chocolate btw

hope you find a way to make it better
dont get a tonsilsectomy-however you spell it
