One Side Of My Nose Have Been Stuffed For Days

Why is one side of my nose stuffy and the other side is not?

Sounds like rhinitis or sinusitis.
If you turn your head to the unstuffy side, see if the stuffiness moves to the other side..it's your sinuses.
Take Aleve or Advil to reduce swelling.
Use saline nasal spray several times/day.
Try Afrin Nasal Spray (at most for 3 days) at night.
Drink lots of fluids except milk & dairy ( it creates mucus).
Take Vit C 3000 mg 2X/day

Feel better

New nose piercing and now that side is stuffed up?

I just got my nose pierced two days ago :) Now that side feels stuffed up and I'm not sure why, it might be a cold because my friends have them. But I'm scared that the metal part is blocking my nose or something?? That might sound stupid but I'm not really sure. I'm scared to blow my nose! Help! Hahah thanks!

How to get rid of stuffy nose?

Steps

1. Put pressure at least 10 times on the corner of your nose, the place you would pinch if you were to hold your nose from an awful smell. Your nose should be almost closed each time you put pressure on the area.
2. Put pressure at least 10 times just below where your tears come from (the part of your eye that produces tears).
3. Put pressure at least 10 times on the spot just behind your nose.
4. Massage your earlobe for about ten seconds.
5. Repeat steps 1 and 4 for the other side.

Tips

* A circular movement for each massage/pressure. Don't push until it hurts, just comfortably do it.
* Do not push the cartilage of the nose.
* Drink lots of fluids, such as water, orange juice, and tea.
* Steam from a shower or a kettle may help break the congestion up (note that this usually takes 10 to 15 minutes to work).
* Eat/drink a lot of hot soup. Don't force yourself to eat really hot soup, or you'll get an unpleasantly numbing burn on your tongue. chicken noodle is preferred for this.

What do you use when your nose is stuffed up using cocaine?

Let’s not get all preachy here. This is an intelligent health related question. I may be wrong but this type of question usually comes from a newer recreational user than from a hard core coke addict but we are not making comparisons here.If you are going to do lines you should follow a nasal hygiene regime to protect yourself as best you can. Check out the drugs-forum site for a ton of nasal care guides. Its a harm reduction moderated forum that doesn’t judge. Most of us only have one nose. When your nose is blocked and every night you snort, try a simple mild saline rinse at bedtime. I think Neilmed was a brand I recall but every pharmacy sells them. You could probably make your own saline solution but whose got time for that. The solution cannot have jagged shards of salt or it will act as an irritant instead..Never blow your nose too hard !Then you are going to get a better dealer as most of the gunk stuffing your nose up is cut.Lots of people use cocaine socially or recreationally and quite a few others develop substance abuse issues. The (dubiously?) good thing about cocaine is that if you are one of the unfortunate ones who will like it A LOT, then you’ll know you REALLY like it really quickly.Insufflate safely please.

Why is half of my nose always blocked?

First I am not your physician and this answer should not be taken as medical advice. The normal nose is divided into two sides by the nasal septum which is the cartilage you can feel in the center of your nose. The airflow in each side of the nose is controlled by the Turbinates (from the same linguistic root as “turbine”). In the normal nasal cycle first one side of the nose “works” and warms, moistens and filters the air you breathe, thus protecting the lower airway. Next this side closes and the other side opens and “works”. Sometimes both sides are open at the same time - particularly in an environment which is “friendly”.When your nose is working properly you are not usually aware of it - it just works. Many things can interrupt this happy state. On of the most common is allergies. Allergies, a reaction to something in the environment like pollen, dander, mold, or certain chemicals, cause the turbinates to become enlarged and block your nose. An infection can also do this. In an allergic reaction the normal nasal cycle is interrupted and the turbinates on both sides become swollen so breathing through the nose becomes difficult.A common condition which compounds this problem is a “deviated septum” . This is caused when the multiple individual bones and cartilage which make up the septum become dislocated and deformed so that one or both sides of the nose are blocked all the time. This may occur at birth as the baby’s nose is compressed against the mothers sacrum as it travels down the birth canal, or due to later trauma. Often trauma does not cause immediate problems but the bone and cartilage grows abnormally and obstruction occurs years later.A combination of a deviated septum and nasal allergies causes uncomfortable obstruction and drainage and should be addressed by a ENT physician who also treat allergies.Other causes of nasal obstruction are less common and include polyps, papillomas (warty tumors) and cancer (fortunately rare). Only a physician who is skilled in examining the nose and upper airway and has the equipment to do so can accurately diagnose and properly treat the problem.

One of my nostrils is always blocked, sometimes right and sometimes left. There are only few minutes in a day where I can breath with both. What can be the reason and what's the cure?

Alternating partial congestion is a perfectly normal function of the nasal cavities known as the nasal cycle [1]. This happens with the use of blood filled sacks called nasal turbinates. Because they are erectile tissue, we can call a filled turbinate a nasal erection.Sometimes the nasal cavity is inflammed and a nasal erection has nowhere to go. This is often uncomfortable and embarrassing. If the primary inflammation is due to allergies, allergy medication or nasal steroids may be helpful.Other times, the nasal turbinate tissue thickens and turbinate reduction surgery may be necessary. Note that prolonged use of nasal decongestants like Afrin promotes this thickening over time.Nasal cycle - Wikipedia
