Open Hearts And Minds

Is the mind limited compared to the heart? Open heart, peaceful mind, heart & mind intelligence is so confusing.

Great question! One I continually evolve in my own concepts of these terms. First of all we must accept that all these parts of us —body/mind/spirit/emotions/and whatever, are in fact one whole enchilada! Physiologically, the brain and the connecting neural network in, to and from the organs are a whole. Like the skin, which covers the whole body is one of these organs. Each organ has it own neural network and genetic instructions. I’m of the opinion that this whole organ of US, thinks, feels, and has a quantum connection to it ambience. I.E. we are not separate from anything! Though each sentient being has its own unique identity of genetic and ontological experience. All of these things interact in an ongoing universal feedback system. Extremely complex and forever growing exponentially. There is no “knowing”, there is only going along for the ride!In a word, I think the entire system thinks, not just the brain [the heart as its own wisdom]! So what I feel in my heart/gut/whatever is what is. The brain is what sorts/filters what datum we need [according to each our own total system ontology]. There are no limitations. Meditation, over time opens us to this “Grok” of our inner/outer ambience. Free existence without ego judging, but true witnessing allows us to be open to the experience actual life. Thats why sometimes it brings one to tears, sometimes to hysterical laughter and always to love and intense curiosity.

How can one become strong of heart and mind?

When I wake up each morning, at 6:30, I consider how lucky I am just to be alive. I consider it a tremendous privilege to breathe, think, love, enjoy, and laugh. A privilege many in this world are denied. After that, I remind myself to be grateful for all that I have - my nice, warm house; my material possessions; my financial situation; the wealthy and peaceful country I live in, etc. Then, I remind myself, groggy and tired as I am, that I wake up to do the work of a human being. It is my purpose to get up each day and get work done.Throughout my day, I encounter mean people, arrogant children, those who simply have a disregard for politeness and basic decency. During my cycle home, it is not uncommon for me to be spat at, sworn at, and all varieties of other nasty things. Why? Because I am a foreigner in the country that I reside in.But it's not because of that alone. It's because all of these people have failed to understand the difference between what is good and what is evil. They are not in an enviable position. I do not hold grudges against these people, or complain (often) about these people, irrespective of how badly I am treated. In similar vein, I try to be the best possible person to whomever I interact with on any given day. Holding doors open for people just to hear them say "Thank you!" makes my day a lot better, and it makes their day much better too.Once I am finished for the day, I write about the challenges I faced and overcame, where I can do better, and what I have to look forward to tomorrow. I meditate after this, by setting a five minute timer, sitting cross-legged, and focusing on one specific area when I breathe, like my stomach or lungs. To end the day, I read in bed until I fall asleep, and repeat the cycle the next day.Do not be resentful for any misfortune that comes your way. You have lots to be grateful for, so maintain your stiff upper lip, be good to the people you meet, don't hold grudges, and reflect on yourself. That is how you cultivate strength in the heart and mind.

Are you (open minded) with your sister or brother?

If You are also a female .....? then it would probably be okay I bought one for my little sis.
If my older brother bought me something like that I would be weirded out

Is public shaming a good way to change hearts and minds?

The answer is not one you’re going to like, because it’s not definite.Sometimes yes, sometimes no. A lot of times, it doesn’t accomplish anything, except alienate people more to the side, and you come across looking as the bad guy. On the other hand, some people have to be shamed publicly, because they will keep repeating the same argument over and over again, convinced that they’re right, and cannot be reasoned with, being stubborn to the end. Homophobes and racists are notorious for this. The granndparent who will insist that all homosexuals are perverts, and turn against their own granddaughter in public, the father who insists all black men are thugs, and will not let his daughter associate with them, even as he’s staring at five respectable young Black men in front of him; these are examples of people who have to be shamed, because their behavior very often spills into the public, and that’s when it becomes uncomfortable. These people try to use righteousness as their main argument, that they’re protecting their loved one from something evil, when really what they’re doing is just spreading around their own prejudice. :-/Some people cannot be publicly shamed, because all it will cause them to do is just retreat further into their corner. But neither can you ignore some people, and just pretend that that they’re doing is alright, because some people are not open to negotiation. They have to be battered into accepting what’s right. The show What Would You Do? is a good example of when some scenarios require public shaming, because many of those scenarios are based on real situations, some of which I’ve witnessed personally.

What is the difference between heart, mind, logic & sprituality?

The mind is part is part of God’s 8 separate, material energies. The functions of the mind are thinking, feeling and willing. If we take logic to be the intelligence, the functions of the intelligence are discrimination, remembering and doubting. If we take heart to mean the soul, the function of the soul is to be the observer. Lastly, I will translate spirituality into God, the Supreme - Krishna. The function of the Supreme is to enjoy and give love and pleasure to His parts and parcels, the souls. The souls’ real function is to assist Krishna in His enjoyment, but in their delusion they have in stead opted to assist their senses in enjoying the sense objects.Krishna says:Earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, intelligence and false ego – all together these eight constitute My separated material energies. (Bg 7.4)Besides these, O mighty-armed Arjuna, there is another, superior energy of Mine, which comprises the living entities who are exploiting the resources of this material, inferior nature. (Bg 7.5)All created beings have their source in these two natures. Of all that is material and all that is spiritual in this world, know for certain that I am both the origin and the dissolution. (Bg 7.6)O conqueror of wealth, there is no truth superior to Me. Everything rests upon Me, as pearls are strung on a thread. (Bg 7.7)
