From my personal experience:Creative essay: set the scene, name the people involved. Start the conversation.Traditional essay:1. How should I start college admissions essay?? PLEASE HELP ME?

Aloha!

Isn't essay writing super-fantastic!?! ;-) In any case, it strikes me that each child in a birth order faces different experiences. Being a middle child, you may not have gotten as much attention as a first child or as the "baby." I'm not sure if this applies to you, but if it does you might want to try starting there. Think about something you may have done or said -- something that really sticks out in your mind -- when you were trying to get your parent's attention. Or, maybe your older siblings and your younger siblings got into it a lot? Maybe you can think of an idea that has to do with you being in the middle of that?

Really, don't stress too much. I'm sure you'll think of something really clever. I have found that if you just start writing often times things will come to you ... something that will pull it all together well or a great first line. Also, given your topic, don't be afraid to ask your family for help. Maybe if you give them an overview of your idea they might be able to help you with a first line!

I hope I could help in some small way. Good luck!

What is the best introduction for a college essay?

The first step to write an effective introduction for a college essay is to visualize the paragraph as a triangle with the point facing down. This is to show that the introduction paragraph starts off at its most broad and gradually becomes more and more focused. The introduction is the first chance you get to interest and inform your audience about the topic. The introduction is comprised of three parts: the hook, the main points, and the thesis statement. The first part, the hook, should be a way to draw your readers in and to have them read the rest of your essay. Here are some examples of hooks:The rhetorical question. Asking a question that helps draw the readers into the central debate you're discussing can help get their attention.A shocking statement or statistic. Starting with a shocking statement or statistic relevant to your topic can help get the reader's attention. An anecdote. Starting with a short anecdote relevant to your thesis can help draw your readers in.

What a good opener for this essay?

Capture the readers' attention with a graphic or descriptive opening line. Impact will vary depending on whether you write in first, second or third person perspective. Consider the property of knives. Compare them to other weapons such as guns. Here are a few examples:

Guns must be aimed and are subject to misfire, they are not easily hidden, often noisy, ammunition is costly and used only once.

Knives, on the other hand, are easily hidden and transported, available in the blink of an eye and deadly silent. Wash them off and they are good as new. Knives also trigger (no pun intended) a primeval fear in everyone.

"I remember the glint of steel ..."
"It's going to be a knife fight, he thought as the two men circled each other warily ..."
"Shadows covered the man in the alley. The only sign of life was the occasional flicker of light against steel, as he sharpened his old knife."

What is an interesting opener for an essay about littering?

First we need what you are going to be writing about...what are your causes/effects? What are your ides? Edit them to the question and I will edit my answer with another answer!

IDEAS:
-Number one littered item (cigarette butts)
(Cigarettes - the big litter problem
Composed of cellulose acetate, a form of plastic, cigarette butts can persist in the environment as long as other forms of plastic.
They are also dangerous to wildlife. Cigarette butts have been found in the stomachs of birds, dogs, cats, and squirrels.
Cigarette smoke contains up to 4000 chemicals.
Cigarette butts take up to 12 years to break down. )
-Rate of biodegration for different items
-effects (dangerous, unhygenic, offensive, wasteful, long-lasting, expensive)
-Studies show that littering is most likely to take place in locations where litter is already present.
-everyone litters, lack of trashcans has been found to NOT be a cause. One cause may be that once there is litter there, you are more likely to place your litter there. It is a cycle effect.
-there is a lot of info on the web....this assigenment is fairly easy.

Littering effects everyone and everyone litters, so why do we do it? Littering not only makes the area look dirty, it effects the economy, the wildlife, is a safety hazard, expensive and wasteful! The causes of littering of very simple and easy to establish, while the effects of littering are complex and difficult to deal with. (GO BACK AND ADD DETAIL WHEN YOU START WRITING OR ONCE YOU DECIDE WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO FOCUS ON TO MAKE IT MORE SPECIFIC)

Then, go into causes....
And then effects....
And then some of your ideas about how we can help stop littering....
Conclusion....

Easy huh?

EDIT: Have you ever heard of the pyramid plan for essays? Introduce with a upside down pyramid and end with a right side up pyramid. Meaning, open with a broad topic and get more specific, then go into your other paragraphs. this serves as your intro. Do the opposit for the conclusion. Start specific and go broad! Good luck!

How do i start writing this essay?(tell me the first line)?

It all depends on what tone you want to take.. funny, serious, matter-of-fact, inspirational, etc...

If it were me I would go funny/ memorable like:

"I'm hunched over my desk, only the glow of the computer screen, it's three o'clock in the morning and my fingers hurt... but for some reason I always love looking at needle point patterns as a I crochet a jacket for my sick aunt" (my hobby is crocheting)

or

"I don't like butter. I don't like butter because scientific experiments on Mythbusters have shown that toast always lands butter side down and I never want to land on the down side of life" (philosophy on life)

For a more inspirational tone you might want something like:

"After volunteering in communities clinics for 7 years I have learned to both give and receive good advice, which has shaped my ability to help other as I grow into adulthood in this society" (your aptitude for helping others)

Hope this ideas help! Just please don't copy and paste what I've written, otherwise the college panel may not get the right impression of you! :)

What are the best things to write about in a college scholarship essay?

My advice is to always examine what the requirements are of the essay, and to follow them explicitly. Do not go off on a tangent, stay focused, answer questions honestly and with accuracy. Do research, offer facts, and when necessary, offer your experiences in an interesting manner. With so much competition for so many scholarships, it’s really important to have a good grasp of writing to ensure you’re completing your essays in the best quality possible.
