Opinions And Thoughts On My Educational Plains

What is your view on our education system?

In my opinion, I think that today’s educational system and especially higher education, is failing the students. You see, when you look at our educational system, it has basically been the same for over centuries. Teachers and professors simply give their class, and students are supposed to sit quietly and listen. However, such as everything around us, things evolve, the way we learn and teach should too. For instance, today we are surrounded by technology, technology has proven to help human kind in many ways. We achieve way more thanks to technology, and this is also applicable to education.Educators need to understand that technology is not disruptive regarding classroom and the teaching time. Yes it might distract students, but even if you prohibit it, they will find a way to use their smartphones, tablets in class. So instead of fighting these digital tools, why not instead transform them into exceptional learning tools that enhance the learning and teaching experience. It’s all about a mindset and embracing the reality we live in.Teachers and professors should meet students’ needs by integrating these digital tools such as tablet, computer and smartphone, that they were basically born with, into the learning process. For that, Wooclap is an amazing tool. It is thus an online polling system where the teacher integrates questions such as polls, open questions, multiple choice questions, ratings and many more to his presentation (PPT, Keynote,Google Slides, PDF).The students answer to the questions live on their smartphone, computer or tablet, AND the results are then displayed live on the teacher’s presentation. This enables the classes to be more interactive and increase participation coming from the students’ side. It’s a fun way, to lighten up the learning process and to gamify your classroom. At Wooclap, we try to help the teacher out as much as possible as well as optimise the learning process for the students. This is why we have created a platform with the help of pedagogical engineers to make the platform as intuitive and easy for both students and teachers. We also have a blog with the Wooclap Best practices and Success stories to help you visualise the benefits of our solution!

What is Mr. Narendra Modi's opinion about the reservation system in India?

Giving little more context. Reservations in India were introduced to up-bring the weaker sections, minorities and bring the equanimity of all sections of people in the society.Though many say that Dr. Ambedkar had introduced it with an expiry date due to the vastness of the country, illiteracy… this could not be achieved. Later on due to Vote bank politics this was always used as trump card to win and also extend it to other groups. There should be some benchmark and an yardstick to review and revise. Considering the progress we had made and political awareness of the current generations there is a strong voice being raised. We all know the old meme’s that used to circulate across the world. But the current generation is talking more about the deserve, qualification not just reservations. But the general mood is that to revise them. When the current government introduced “Give up Gas Subsidy” scheme. People also felt that why not “Give up Reservation”It does make sense, how many generations will enjoy this reservations? Restrict the utilization of ReservationGenerationsFamily level - like only one person can useIndividual/Age level - use the reservation either for studies or getting job not for bothNow back to the main question “Will Modi’s Government touch the Reservations in India?”I guess they will definitely touch. If not removing them they will definitely review and revise them. But I don’t think this is going to happen in this 2014–2019 time frame. For that they need to show the followingImprove the literacyImprove the living standardsThrough good governance make everyone accountable, employableWe can expect some action but not immediately or not in the current tenure!

What is your opinion about school.?

In my opinion, the American school system is just terrible. I mean I appreciate the fact that I have the opportunity to learn in a safe environment but we are going about this all wrong. There is too much focus on standardized test scores for both students and teachers. All that matters is test scores, pay no attention to individual students. All classes, not just current electives should be optional. It doesn't make sense to spend 7 years studying the history of ancient Mongolia when you're really interested in pharmaceuticals. Let students pick their core classes so they can further their education in a topic they actually care about. Let them study classes they are passionate about. I want to study architecture but I only get an hour and a half every two days to study it. In the meantime, I'm studying Spanish, anatomy, history..useless for my career. The entire education system in America needs revamping. But why fix something that is clearly broken, right? Good job, America.

OPINIONS: Do you agree with my school's policy on facial piercings?

I agree with the facial piercings not being allowed. Most are tacky as it is rare to see them not infected or irritated.. it's disgusting to see them red, inflamed, or/and puss oozing. I would be all for facial piercings if the people with them would take better care of them. They are distracting as they stand, but worse as most people with them play with them... which is probably why they are inflamed and irritated most the time. Piercings are not a toy! Putting a bandaid on them is even worse. I disagree with their rule on clear pieces.. I think those should be allowed. Even if you take the piercing out there is still a hole. If the hole closes often there is evidence it was at one point a piercing and some are famous for scarring. A clear piece wouldn't be much different and it is less noticeable than anything else put in there. Now multiple piercings on the ears rule is a little excessive. I can understand why they wouldn't want the bar or such things like that, but to have two holes in the lobe or an innocent cartilage piercing or two isn't a problem. I think having a line of piercings makes it look like a junk yard, but that's my personal opinion. I think the rules on what can be worn in the ear is a bit excessive too.

They have those rules to make it clear and easy to remember. It sounds like they are trying to have everyone in a uniform.. piercings included. The reason is people get so caught up in fashion and haves and have nots. It's also to help you become ready for the work force. Few people understand that piercings will rule what kind of jobs you get in the future. If you have facial piercings costumers will become uncomfortable with you. Like I wouldn't dare accept doctor that has an inflamed facial piercing.. if they fail at basic hygiene and procedure I'm not going to trust my health to them. Employers are generally good at knowing things like this and not going to hire anyone that would scare the customers away.. which is the only way to get a profit. Yes, there are exceptions.. places like tattoo parlors and Hot Topic... they require body art. These kinds of jobs aren't places teachers wish on their students and parents on their kids. These jobs aren't considered respectable. They just want you to have the best chance possible to get the best jobs there are.

What's your opinion on studying abroad in China?

The Great Plain of China evokes the legends of history. If you want to feel the resplendent culture that’s a legacy of an exotic past, studying in China will make it happen. However, China is now a preferred destination for students across the world not only for a taste of its rich heritage and diversity but to avail of a great academic landscape. Its emerging economy reflects in the proliferation of educational institutions beyond Beijing and Shanghai. As many as 7 popular cities are providing superlative academic ambience and educational infrastructure. The Chinese Government is offering exclusive financial support to international students in the form of awards, grants and scholarships. The expenses of study abroad in China are remarkably affordable ranging between INR 2-6 Lacs (approx.) per year and the living cost can be anywhere between INR 15,000-50,000 per month depending upon the city and location.

In your opinion, why do school budgets keep getting cut?

School budgets keep getting cut because of the lack of money. Plain and simple. The board members are constantly trying to get more resources but, in the end, there just isn't enough money to cover for so many teachers and that leads to more problems with the students. Bigger classes keep getting put in, which equals more distractions for the students. And on top of that, in my district, we have cut 5 teachers, and now the classes are getting bigger and more complicated. For all i know, there will be monkeys teaching our classes in the near future! We now know which teachers have been cut, but they are all good teachers. But, the fact is, that we are constantly getting interrupted in regards to our education, and we are now being more distracted by putting the lack of teachers on our fault. On top of that, the board decided we needed to cut the money for school supplies. They are no longer providing them for our district. Which isn't fair. This is the absolute worst our district has seen. And remember, it's not a county. It's a much smaller district with only one high school.
