Opinions On The Name Ida

WDYT of the name Ida May?

I love this name! Is was my grandmothers name. Except she spelt May as Mae. So personaly yes I do like the name. My only draw back is that at school it might not work well. My grandmother was always getting picked on with people saying "Ida Mae I.....". Just something to consider!

What do you think of the girl's name Ida?

the name itself is very unique and i love it, but.... when u hear it for some reason i always think of a grandmother. srry if this isnt what ur lookin for but its what i honestly think of when i hear that name. it just seems like a bit of an old person name. lol

Could Ida be a nickname for Isadora?

Ida could easily be a nickname for Isadora......IsaDorA.

Nicknames need not be perfect matches for the longer, formal name, such as Beatrice/Bea, Gwendolyn/Gwen, Jessica/Jessie, Isabella/Bella, Miranda/Randy, etc. Common nicknames frequently Add, Switch or completely Change vowell sounds, switch around syllables, and sometimes appear unrelated to the formal name.
Some examples:
Dorothy - Dot, Dottie
Elizabeth - Betty, Libby
Margaret - Maggie, Peggy, Maisie, Daisy
Katherine - Kate, Katie .... big vowel change, similar to short I to long I in Isadora/Ida.
Theodora - Thea ..... tricky since the O is skipped over, and the final A is used.
Louise - Lulu
Alessandra - Sansa
Francesca/Frances - Fannie
Charlotte - Charlie ...... "sh" changed to "ch" is a big move, but we are used to it.

Michael - Mick, Micky, Mischa
Francis - Frank
Henry - Harry, Hank
Lawrence - Larry
Gerard - Gary
Nathan/Nathaniel - Nate, Nat
Alexander - Sascha
Robert - Bob, Bobby
Richard - Dick
William- Billy
Dominic - Doc
Charles - Chaz
Christopher - Kit, Kester
Arthur - Art, Artie

I love the name Isadora !! Neither Izzy nor Dora are nice at all, in my opinion. Ida would definitely work and I like it much more than the others, but still I'm not crazy about it. My favorite is Isis, and this has a legitamate source since Isadora is a Greek name meaning 'follower of Isis'. I believe that Sadie is a possibility; If the nicknames Sadie and Sally can be gotten out from Sarah, then surely a SADie can be wiggled out of iSADora !!

Do you want to name your child Ida?

My grandmother’s name was Ida—Ida Jane. Here she is in the 1930s:Until recently I had never particularly liked the name because I considered it old fashioned—however, old-fashioned names are very trendy right now. I’m starting to think if it as a pretty name.It is currently quite a popular name for girls in the Nordic countries:Ida (given name)

Love it.Plenty of people are putting the "lyn" suffix onto women's names.  I can think of three others. Most of the old names come back around in a while.  One of the highest-paid REALTORs in my town is named "Ida."  She advertises as "the only name you need to know."

Middle names to go with Ida?

I love old fashioned, classic names.
It's difficult to find an appropriate middle name, because though Ida by itself is very sweet, paired with another name it can sometimes sound like you're saying, 'I would (and then the name). Kind of difficult to explain.

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance, God bless :)
