Orange Hair To Brown Ombr

What happens if you dye ash brown over orange bleached hair?

So my hair has gone through a lot of processing and bleaching. My virgin hair is black.
I initially wanted an ash blonde ombre and it turned out horrible. My friend did bleach my hair and it turned orange.. even after a toner!
So I went to a salon a week later and it was bleached a second time and it turned really yellow. I still wasn't satisfied.
So I decided to box dye my hair "light ash blonde" over my yellow bleached hair. It actually turned into the color I aiming for the first time, which I loved! But of course box dye does wash out and it has turned orange again.. :@

So what happens if I box dye my hair ash brown over my orange hair? I really want the orange to cancel out without dying it completely black!

I also wanted to try Wella hair toner in t18. I heard it works really well! But i'm not sure what this toner will look like on my black roots? PLS HELP

How do I dye my ombre hair back to dark brown?

Okay, so a 7 months a go I dyed half of my hair (the bottom) ombre! With the feria ombre hair dye. It came out really orange and brassy so I dyed it a neutral ash cool light brown. It lasted for a few weeks then went back to this nasty orange color! So my hair got really damaged (it's long curly hair) and I nursed it back to health. So now I'm wanting to dye it back to my natural hair color (dark brown). How should I do this?

My ombre hair turned orange. How do I fix it?

The top of my hair is a reddish brown color and the bottom is a blondish/orange. It looks terrible. I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding and the wedding is in 11 days. How can I fix it with a box dye? I don't have much money to go to the salon. I just want a normal, dark brown color. How can I do that if my bleached ends have turned into an orange color?

Dying brown over orange/yellow hair?

What's crazy is I ran into the same EXACT problem last night upon bleaching my hair to a light brown...I didn't want it completely blonde. I was orange, it was late and no stores were open so first thing ths morning i threw on my hood and headed out to CVS which did not have the color reccommended for fixing orange hair, then to shoppers (grocery store) and they had it...Anyways after LOTS of research it appears to be Blue/green tones neutralize orange/red hair...In a nut shell you'll need to purchase an ASH tone color. Anything that says "medium blonde ash" or "medium brown ash" on the box should do the trick, it did for my orange hair, and other people/professionals online says it works too. I used Nice and Easy in a medium ash blonde. it was only 7.40 including tax. When going lighter you have to be extremely careful because you want to pay attention to the BASE color...The base colors will make or break everything...Some dyes are red based, whereas others are green and blue based. Your hair is already orange, so we don't need anymore red based dyes. The only thing to neutralize it will be an Ash tone which is already rich in green/blue "cool" tones...Also if you see the word "cool" on the box you'll know this is what you need, more of a "warm" tone will make you redder. BTW, I was jet black, and i dyed it once and it lifted to the orange...The Clairol Nice'n Easy 106 Natural Medium Ash Blonde to be exact corrected the mess.
Brown dye over orange will work fine ONLY if the base color is green, blue, or violet...If the base is Red, it'll only make it worse. So get an ASH brown and not a "golden" or "warm" brown, those contain red bases.

Can I use light ash brown to tone brassy copper hair?

Boxed dye doesn’t have enough cool pigment to cover the orange. You need to tone your hair. A toner will neutralize the brass and make your hair a more cool-toned blonde. Even if you want to go darker, you still need to tone your hair. If you put a cool toned brown over orange hair, your hair will turn green. You have to cancel out the brass with a toner before going for a cool-tone or even a neutral-tone dark blonde or brown. It will cost you like $10-$20 to tone it yourself. Most professionals charge like $60 or more for toning treatments, but definitely go to a professional if your hair is very damaged and you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself. If you are okay with doing it yourself, get Wella T-14. If your hair is longer than 20″ from root to tip, get two boxes. Don’t buy T-18. T-18 is for yellow hair whereas, T-14 is for orange/copper-toned brassy hair. Mix it with a 10 volume developer, apply evenly and let it sit (I let mine in for 30 minutes, but you don’t have to do this) and then rinse it and apply a sulfate-free conditioning mask to your hair. I used this brush and Balayage board to apply my toner and really liked it. Everyone has their own preferences for application technique. After your toning treatment, don’t use any products with sulfate. Stick with sulfate-free color-safe shampoos, conditioners, and masks. Products that aren’t deemed “safe for color treated hair” will work the toner out of your hair.If you’re interested in seeing how effective T-14 is at removing orange and golden-brassy tones from blonde hair, check out my before and after.Best of luck!

I want to get balayage/ombre hair?

So, before I decided I want a balayage look, my hair was dark brown, almost black. I have red tones underneath since my hair was previously bright red. So when I bkeachwd my dark hair twice, it came out twenty shades of orange and red. Ew. I bought purple shampoo and used it once, and then I got a medium ash blonde dye to put over my orange hair to take out the harsh orange tones. It's toned out a lot, but I still have some orange on the tops of my hair. I really want to continue with giving my hair a cute balayage look. So should I dye it light or medium brown all over or just at the tops? I can't go to a stylist. Pease help

Will toner remove the brassy color from brown orange dyed hair?

No. Toners are tone on tone color meaning they are formulated for levels 7+. Most are formulated to work best on level 9+. The pigment content is not strong enough for orange which is about a level 5–6. You need a blue based color in a level 5–6 to neutralize at the proper pigment content/strength. See chart:

Help! Loreal Feria turned my hair orange!?

If you're taking medications sometimes they will pigment your hair and affect your hair coloring.
Bleaching sets stop working after 20-25 minutes, after that it just damages your skin. If your scalp is hurting, apply lotion. I like lubriderm. If it's blistering, try aquaphor at night when you to bed.
If you're ok, or when you're scalp heals, try it again but don't use the hair coloring sets found in grocery stores. I googled Loreal Feria and it has horrible, horrible reviews that all relate to people getting orange hair.
Hair DOES go thru the color spectrum, however it's not something that takes weeks or hours.
Just minutes.
Go to Sally Beauty. Get a Booster Kit, this is the bleaching stuff. They'll know what you're talking about.
Get a developer of 30 peroxide. I wouldn't go 40 because your hair might already be damaged, and 40 is more for darker hair/darker skinned people anyway.
20 minutes. No longer. Your hair should be white or close to it.
Then color it the shade of blonde that you want. I suggest using an ash blonde, don't use anything that says golden. Ashes tend to have more purple in the die which help neutralize the goldens.

I had my black hair bleached and then dyed brown at a hair salon. If it fades, will it fade to black, or will it face to my bleached blonde hair?

It will fade to the bleached color. Bleach doesn’t fade. When you bleach hair, you strip the color out. When you dye it, you add color, which washes out. HOWEVER, it will most likely not fade to the lightest it was when bleached—rather, it will fade to some sort of orange-ish or green-ish hue left over from the dye (which one depends on the color of the dye, i.e. if it veers red or blue), since dye will usually stain the bleached hair a bit.Typically, once you start dyeing your hair, you can’t just let it go and hope it will return to something decent-looking on its own. I currently have very intense burgundy red hair (coming from a natural medium/dark brown) , and the last time I let it grow out on its own, the whole area that had been red faded to a dull light orange that was in no way flattering, and 4–5 inches of dark roots… I finally had to go to the salon to get it dyed a nice rich chocolate color, which eventually allowed me to go back to my natural color, since the transition between the last dye and my natural hair wasn’t very great.Having done a lot of crazy stuff with my hair, especially as a younger girl, I kind of got used to having two-three different colors in my hair from regrowth and fading, but it’s not a look I would recommend, particularly in a professional environment.Long story short: if you make dramatic changes to your hair, you will have to deal with dyeing it back to your natural color several times in order to go back to your natural color.
