Oregon University With Engineering Program And Nursing Program

How is the MS in Renewable Energy Engineering program at Oregon Institute of Technology?

I can't not speak for the MS program, though I thought very highly of their BS program. The MS program was still in the works when I graduated (2010) though I did follow the founder of their BS program over to PSU to get my MS in Power Systems there. If you got or are getting your undergrad degree in RE at OIT, I recommend you consider getting your MS in power systems at PSU to broaden your horizons a bit. The PSU program Really prepares you for working in the Power Industry as a whole rather than staying focused on just RE!

Oregon university with Engineering program and Nursing program?

My boyfriend and I are trying to find a college that we can both attend together but I can't find a good university with engineering and nursing. I want to be a pediatric nurse and he wants to be an auto engineer. He really wants to go to OSU but they only have a pre-medical program. Do I need to do pre-med before nursing school? I don't know... Would help if you could explain how college works too because that doesn't make a lot of sense yet. I'm a senior in high school right now. Thank you!!

Is Iowa State University’s Computer Engineering/Science program good?

I graduated from Iowa State University as a computer engineer in 2016. Overall, I can easily say that my experience was great. However, I can not say that it was easy. From the first year itself you are thrown into the deep end of coding. Your classes keep getting harder until the end of second year. However, after that, life gets much easier. This might seem contradictory to what you might have imagined but trust me the first two years of the computer engineering program are hell. The classes are really hard but you learn a lot. If you get through those, you know you are going to be a good engineer for sure. The professors are extremely helpful but present life to you on a platter of cake. You have to work hard and they will reward you for it. I have personally interacted with a lot of professor who have helped me immensely. One particular professor is hated by almost all the the students. I did my homework and could not get it right. I took it to him after class, and he told me that I can see you have done the work and I appreciate the effort you have put in it. He opened his answer sheet and told me to take my time to understand his solution. They he asked me if I had any doubts about his solution. His approach was same as mine, but his system specifications were different. The advisers are also particularly amazing. I absolutely adore them. They are super helpful.Iowa state also has a great tutoring program, so if you are struggling with some classes, you can get tutoring for it very easily and at a very nominal rate. If you are an international student, then I think you can get tutoring for one subject a semester for free. The program is what you make of it. It is designed for you to succeed, whether you do or not is up to you. As Dumbledore said “Help will always be given at Iowa State to those who ask for it.”As for hiring, students from ISU are hired across the biggest companies in the United States. So in the end, if you are a good engineer, it doesnt matter which university you come from.

I would like to get a degree in nursing with a minor in software engineering. Is this a good choice or should I change my minor?

Thanks for asking your question “I would like to get a degree in nursing with a minor in software engineering. Is this a good choice or should I change my minor?” I think the nursing-computer science connection would be helpful and may be relevant as most nurses seek non-clinical positions after several years of clinical practice. Nursing informatics is a growth area and there are online and graduate programs that you may attend to get you started in that direction. By itself, the computer science minor will not give you much mileage as your nursing degree begs for health care and an informatics direction would you give you the focus that would attract employers. Consider this web page from Northwestern University (source: http://sps.northwestern.edu/prog...) or by Oregon State University State University (Clinical Informatics Track).

Is oregon health science university (OHSU) only a graduate school?

They offer a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, but everything else is graduate degrees. It used to be Oregon Health Science University, and was the Medical (and Nursing, Dental, and Pharmacy) school of the Oregon System of Higher Education. But a few years ago they merged with what was then called Oregon Graduate Institute which offered very research oriented Master's and Doctorates in the sciences and engineering. So now it's Oregon Health AND Science U.

The tuition you know, but there's also room and board (Portland isn't a cheap city any longer) and all those labs have all sorts of fees. $200K sounds a little high, but not much. And some of the degrees may well take more than four years.

(PS, thanks for clarifying what you meant by OHSU)

What kind of reputation does Portland State University have? Is it a good school?

US News ranks PSU as a 4th Tier National research university. Both UofO and Oregon State are ranked "3rd Tier National". PSU has been growing in popularity as Portland becomes a more popular city. As a result, PSU is now the largest and most diverse university in the state of Oregon.

PSU is best known locally for Business, Urban Planning, Engineering, and some liberal arts areas like Sociology and Fine Arts. Most popular programs are Business, Education, and pre-med, pre-nursing. Second-degree seekers are common as well.

Nationally, PSU is casually best known for Business simply due to high-mobility of its successful graduates that get transferred to other states for their job.

Trivia claim to fame: The Nike Swoosh symbol was created by a PSU business student (advertising major).

Verdict: It's a good school but not great, I took some accounting courses there, and they were tough. Because so many people from out-of-state have been flocking to Portland State in recent years, people kind of stopped making fun of "Broadway High" -except for UO Ducks and OSU Beavers, haha!

The only major complaints I hear is that it's very tough to get A's, very possible to get B's... and C's are giveaways to the masses. The best students transfer out, and the majority transferred in from another college. Graduation rate of entering freshman is pretty low, but the transfers from community college generally do well.

Hope this helps!

What are the best colleges or university in Idaho?

Should I attend University of Hawaii at Manoa?

I went to both HPU and UH. HPU is a private school and class sizes are much smaller (20 students on average) while my seminars at UH had 200 students in them. UH is ok overall. But definitely not an Ivy League school of course. Also, as a student it is better if you find a roommate and share an apartment because prices are high. I lived in Ala Moana when I was a student and shared a 2-bedroom apartment, which was $550 each. But that was a cheap one and you must be lucky to find a private room in the $500-600 range.
Other than that Hawaii is a nice place to be a student. I was hardly ever bored. For more Hawaii info, or to see some pictures, see here:
