Organizations Giving Financial Help To Disabled People

Are There Organisations Who Specifically Employ Disabled People?

There are so many organizations that employ people with disabilities. If you are qualified to work you can be employed wherever you want to b employed. I recently read that the IRS is one of the largest employers of people with disabilities because most of the work is desk work and they are committed by the federal government to hire people with disabilities.

What can you do? What kind of employment do you want? Look through the newspaper and find an opportunity. Network with people and tell them what your skills are and that you want to work.

If you have trouble in an ordinary work setting - start your own business. That is exactly why my son has his own business.

What financial program gives assistance for people suffering from lupus?

I can only answer for the UK which offers people the opportunity to apply for support through Personal Independence Payment the Government scheme that replaced Disability Allowance. From your spelling of the word Programme I suspect you are not UK based though.

How can an organization help you fulfill your life dreams?

The organization is within us...If we could become more organized AND disciplined then we would feel as though we could accomplish many things. I would love to have help becoming more organized and focused. Contributing something, anything to society is the ultimate goal. There are two other things that are really important: body strength and movement such as swimming or some other form of exercise because depressed people usually stop moving and then become obese and more depressed....and doing something creative that you never dreamed you could do such as oil painting. Having accomplished people actually listen and take one serious rather than having their own agenda and being condescending is a confidence builder as well. We come from a broken, scattered society that needs to be restored. Where each person is considered valuable. There are more and more children coming from broken, drug addicted homes...what will become of them? Can some organization teach them the things that the parents were supposed to teach? Work ethics, handling a checkbook, cooking healthfully instead of fast foods and pizza...the value of a family sitting down together at the dinner table...Wow. That is almost unheard of these days. I won't go into religion as that is best kept separate, but, it can change a person's life. How about valuing and respecting teachers as much as a movie star. How about going back to real teaching rather than the "No kid left behind", deal that did not work. The kids know how to pass tests but they have no knowledge. How about more "Big Brothers", helping young boys become men. I wanted to get my Son into that when he was young because even though there was a Father he was military and was not only physically gone a lot, he was also emotionally absent from his Son. It broke my heart and you know what...there was such a need for mentors that they said they could do nothing for my Son because he had never been in trouble. Now days I would not trust a man with my Son because the media protrays men in such a negative light. You know there use to be honesty in Journalism but that is a thing of the past. There is a whatever sells mentality. I know I didn't speak of an actual, physical organization because the needs are so many. Haha I was thinking of basic training and visiting a 3rd world country to bring up one's appreciation level and then I realized that was already happening and it is called "The Iraq War" Mmm

Financial aid for disability?

Okay, OSAP doesn't care what your daughter's rent or other bills are. If she is a dependent student (so not out of high school at least 4 years), then parents' incomes were included in the funding calculation. There may be some things that she can do, but she is the one that needs to do them, not you.

First, did she get the maximum for a single student - that would be 360/week multiplied by the number of weeks in her program - for most 2 semester 17 week programs, that is 12,240?

If she did not get the maximum, there may be some grounds for a review. She needs to make an appointment with her financial aid office and find out if she is eligible for any review items. One review item is for her car - she was asked what her car was worth. She is allowed to have a car with a value of $5000, anything over that is considered an asset and can be deducted from her funding. If she needs the car to travel back and forth to school, and there is no public transit, she needs to write a letter requesting the review and explaining the reason and submit it to her financial aid office. But from your post, it seems that she lives in Kitchener and just uses the car to go back home to Newmarket every so often. As far as OSAP is concerned, she should be taking the bus from her apartment in Kitchener to school and the bus back home a couple of times per semester.

Second, did she identify herself as a student with a permanent disability? If she did, she would be eligible for a $2000 grant. Have her check her OSAP application and see if she did. If she wants to now apply as a student with a permanent disability she needs a letter from her doctor.

Third, is she eligible for the travel/transportation grant? Probably not, as she is living in Kitchener.

Unfortunately, OSAP is not designed to pay all of a student's expenses -- the family and the student are expected to contribute. If she is living in Kitchener, they will see all the travel back and forth to Newmarket as a "lifestyle choice" and there will be no extra consideration as a car is not a necessity in her case.

Also, if the car is sold, she has to report that to OSAP and they will consider the money she gets from the car to be "savings" and will adjust her funding accordingly.

Which are some of the better organizations to volunteer with to help returning veterans?

Great to hear that you're interested in volunteering and that you want to find a legit organization. There are definitely solid local organizations, but the easiest way to screen an organization's legitimacy is to see if they are nationally recognized. And the easiest way to do that is to google them!Off the top of my head, I'd recommend IAVA, Semper Fi Fund, Team RBW, and Team Rubicon. These are, respectively, a veterans advocacy group, a veterans charity group (rehabilitation assistance and financial aid), a veterans fitness group, and a veterans disaster relief group. As for how to choose... you will want to determine what skills you have to offer and whether or not you're willing to commit to volunteering those skills. The biggest thing veterans hate is a lack of commitment from non-veterans. Too many people volunteer spontaneously (and then gradually stop) because helping veterans is a great cause.. but hard work. Think carefully and then commit!A couple more legitimate organizations would be Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. I think these are great organizations but hesitation in pointing you to them is that they tend not to have as many Post-9/11 veterans as the organizations I first listed. And it seems you want to help returning veterans (i.e., Post-9/11).

I live with my disabled mom and we need help!?

The discharge planner (social worker) at the rehab facility where she is can help you line everything up, including getting you caregiver benefits paid to you by your county.
Your mom should be doing far more for herself than she is, including fixing meals, driving herself to and from work (there are adaptive devices available that would allow her to drive), laundry, other housework, being independent in toileting, dressing, bathing, and even taking care of her dogs. The occupational therapist where she is should be providing help that teaches her how to be independent even in a wheelchair. It is not impossible for her to be able to do everything independently, particularly at her age. Hell, I've seen people who are bilateral above-the-knee amputees (from diabetes, no less) at least 10 years older than your mom live completely independently.
Once your mom is discharged home, an occupational therapist can provide home-health services and teach your mom how to manage working around her own house and doing all the tasks needed in order to live independently..Adaptive equipment, such as grab bars, reachers, and bed rails can be provided, and your mom can learn to use them. If she had had a reacher, she most likely would have never fallen from her chair and injured herself.
Sometimes patients and their caregivers need to be realistic. It sounds to me that neither your mom, nor you, is being the slightest bit realistic. Doctors are not social workers, and it isn't in their scope of practice to set up services like what you and your mom need.
She would not qualify for disability; she's working full-time and has demonstrated that whatever physical problems she has don't prevent her from doing so.
Your life has been put on hold, which is highly unfair to you, and your mom has been using you for a slave when she could very well do everything for herself.
If your mom grouses about being pushed to take care of herself, encourage her to get some psychotherapy to figure out why she's become so dependent on you that it is retarding your development academically, spiritually, physically, and emotionally. Your mom is playing the martyr, and it's certainly no help to you.

What rich people are willing to help people in need of money?

Nobody is just going to give you money…that's what charities are set up for.If wealthy individuals started just handing out money to people that didn't make their money work for them, then the whole world become poorer.Wealthy people make their money work so that it increases. Less affluent have an entirely different mind set. Rather than investing in something that makes money, they simply spend money whenever they have it.It’s easy to understand that when you are down, you have bills and not enough income. Wealthy people will live below their means, invest the excess funds they have and wait until later in life for their investments to mature. They will work two jobs if they have to. They will drive old cars, they will do whatever they need to to meet their goals. Poor people have poor habits and are not willing to make the same sacrifices, but instead want someone to just give them something.Your income will basically be the average of those that you hang around with. If you want more wealth, include more wealthy friends into your group…or start hanging around with individuals that have more wealth than you do.You can learn so much in such a short time from a person of wealth. Wealthy people will help you if you are sincere in asking them for help. Don't ask for a handout, but ask for their mentor abilities.Don’t ask a billionaire for help if you are making $10,000 a year….they won't have a clue how to help you. If you're at $10,000 a year, ask someone who is at $60K or $100K a year. Once you reach the next level, learn from someone who is at $250K a year. It's a long process. Never ask for a handout. That will ruin your relationship. Ask how you can build some wealth of your own. Then go do whatever it is that is suggested and report back to your mentor.
