Other Than Rangers Does The Army Have Deep Recon Teams

Marines Force Recon or Army Ranger School?

First off, they're both special forces unlike what the dude above my answer said. Also another guy above my answer said that you can join Force Recon and go to Ranger school which is correct but an Army Ranger is more than just Ranger school they have R.I.P. (Ranger Indoctrination Program) among other schools, ex.Jump school, that they must complete.

But to really answer your question the Army Rangers and Marine Force Recon are two different Special Forces Units, meaning that they do different things and trian for different situations.

The Army Rangers are a light infantry unit that train for many different situations but they usually are on direct contact missions which mean they seek to engage hostile forces. They do things like airfield siezures and they serve as a Quick Reaction Force; meaning that if another special forces unit was on a mission but needed a quick exit, b/c they ran into a lot of enemy forces, then they would send in the Rangers to get them. They are almost always used in tandem with another special operation unit like Army Special Forces, SEALS, and Force Recon. They are trianed for almost any situation though and are a very versitile unit.

Force Recon is a little different they are similar to the Navy SEALs in that they perform small scale high risk operations. They are trained primarily for deep reconnaissance patrols. Force Recon personnel rely on stealth and evasion, but they also can handle direct contact operations b/c most Recon men have been in the Marines for 2 or more years before going into Force Recon.

As far as getting into either one of these units is concerned I'm sure you know that it takes a highly motivated and exceptional soldier. The Rangers is a little easier to get into not b/c they are "less" of a unit but b/c there is a greater need for them than a Force Recon soldier. It should be noted that of the 100,000+ Marines there are only about 1200-1800 are Marine Force Recon soldiers. There are about three or four times that many Army rangers but there is also more soldiers in the US Army than the US Marines.

Both are highly trained Special Operation forces but they are fairly different when it comes to the types of missions they perform. Either branch you choose I wish you luck.

Army Rangers vs. Marine Recon?

Listen, just a question about the 2.. What's the difference.. I know the rangers are a light infantry unit and are very elite soldiers.. Marine recon I have no idea.. Just want too know the difference.. And please don't hate on the other branches.. The Army & Marines are both badass.. Leaving for Fort Benning on 20140717, I know a lot about the Army Rangers but don't know about Marine Recon

Which is harder, US Army Rangers or US Marines?

The Marines are Conventional Troops. The Marine starts a Civilian and then does a 12 week Basic which is only pull up and also sit ups and also a three mile run. Which the Marine is given 28 minutes to do. 9.5 miles per mile if your slow. The Marines are then taken to SOI which is easier than Boot and they can go out at night on weekends and see women and drink booze. The Army Ranger is at First an 11b Infantryman. This is a 13.5 week OSUT which is very difficult and the Drill can be a Green Beret in some cases. Then Airborne School then Ranger School. I won’t go into details about those schools except that Special Forces goes to Airborne and Ranger School and so do Navy Seals. I was just reading about Green Beret who went to Ranger School three times and each time he went he was pulled out to do a Mission with Special Forces and he begged them to let him pass but they had to go to do the mission instead. Anyway. The Ranger 75th Ranger Regiment is the Elite Infantry. Marines use 13 man squads. The Army Infantry uses 9. Army Rangers use 4 to 5 Man teams. Less than half what Conventional Infantries use. The 75th Ranger Regiment is A Tier Two Socom Team and has Regimental Recon Company In it which is Tier One like Delta. It’s size is 3623 people more than Force Recon and Marine Raiders combined and bigger than Marsoc. There is no Tier One team in the Whole Marine Corps. On 29 June 2006 during a session of the Committee on Armed Services, General Wayne Downing testified before the U.S. House of Representatives that 70 percent of all Delta operators had served in the 75th Ranger Regiment. The Rangers are really really Elite. Most Of Delta Served with them. If 70 Percent served in the 75th Ranger Regiment that doesn’t leave a lot of room for Marines at the top.I’m sorry but Rangers are much better than Marines.Ranger PFT Minimum ScoresPush-ups in 2:00 49 in 2:00Sit-ups in 2:00 59Pull-ups 6Two-mile run 15:125 Mile run 40:0016-mile hike w/65lb pack 5 hours 20 minutes15-meter swim with gear Pass/FailThis is all just the minimum.Of course Rangers put up better scores. The 75th Ranger Regiment requires more than the minimumAlso there is the Ranger Qualified Soldiers who are in other Units. They aren’t the same as the 75th Regiment Soldiers but are there to help the Regular Units to be better by having Elite Infantry Inside the Infantry and Cavalry Teams as well as other Combat Arms. They are also trying to make 75th Rangers and are waiting for a slot to open up.

Is it harder to become Marine force recon or an Army Ranger?

Rekondog, you are a fraud. Your post are full of fraudulent information not only about yourself, but also about subjects in which peoples questions pertain to. Your Reconnaissance experience is questionable at best. Your wiki articles are a joke. Any one in the reconnaissance community should laugh at you.

Marines don't and have never stayed at Basic Airborne to get 5 more jumps for gold wings. I laugh at that idea. Combatant diver course is a little longer than 3-4 weeks buddy. You cant even research you lies good enough.

While there is still Force recon in the reserves, 1st Force, 2nd Force, and 5th Force are all de-activated at this time. Battalion DRP (Deep Reconnaissance Platoons) do the Force mission at this time.

Fix your article, and stop answering peoples questions with false information. Do some more research before you pretend to be recon again.

What exactly does MARSOC do? What can it do that Army SF, SEALs, and Ranger RRD cannot?

I don’t think anyone knows. The Missions are a secret. Rangers have raised a lot of Beaches. I bet it’s like Navy Seals. And like some Special Forces and some of it like Rangers. I imagine it’s like any other SOF Unit but with a smaller scope. Marsoc itself is about the size of Army Rangers and the Raiders are the Unit that fights and they are 1500 deep. The Rest of Marsoc is Support and school. The Rangers are about the same size as all of Marsoc but they have a seperate Units that supports them. So Raiders have to have a smaller mission than the other Groups. There is Force Recon but they don’t Number in the thousands. More like 100’s.It’s growing I’m sure but they are a small tier 2 team and maybe in time will have more numbers. I’m sure they are fit and smart people. And able to fight well but the Army and Navy have huge Socom Teams. A Congressional Report Recently stated there are 22,000 Green Berets and 9,000 Navy Seals. I have a copy of it. I gotta see what the numbers for Ranger are now. It’s probably bigger than before.Marsoc is the name of the Whole Socom for Marines and they have 3195 people total. The Combat Teams, Support and The School.Army Socom on the other hand officially has 69,000 people but it’s really more than that after that congressional Report. Then there is the Tier One Teams. Marines don’t have one. Some people might say they do but I have seen a report on it written by Marines encouraging Marsoc Marines to join Tier One teams and then come back and report what they learned. They have t join CAG or Devgru or even the Air Force to do that.Army has Delta and Ranger Recon Company. And another team that has no official name.I think in time the Marines may get a Tier One team but as of right now. They don’t.
