The lights on my Blue Max garage door opener stay on all the time. How do I fix this problem? Thanks! Bill?
If it nevers shuts off whether the door is open or closed the light relay on the logic board has probably fused closed. There are three relays on the board in a row (pull plug before removing opener cover), one is for the light, one to open door, & one to close door. Tap lightly on circuit board relays w/ the handle of a screwdriver. The relay may release itself (temporarily at least) for you to verify that is the problem. The covers on the relay do come off to where you can clean the points but it isn't always easy. You definitely don't want to damage the board by trying to get the relay covers off. The logic board on that unit may not be available any longer.
Why do my garage door opens after closing? How can I fix it?
My garage door has two sensors, either of which can cause the door to open immediately after apparently closing:a force-sensitive switch that detects if the motor torque is excessive, typically tripped by incorrect adjustment, or by leaving a solid object in the way of the descending door (a car, for instance)an optical sensor that detects if an object is obstructing a lightbeam across the bottom of the door. That can trip because the sensor gets knocked out of alignment, or because there is an object in the way (even a leaf), or because something on the door itself gets in the way as it descends (I have foam padding on the lower door stiffener which can become dislodged).The force sensor can be recalibrated. But if it’s tripping when there is no object in the way, you have have other problems such as a broken spring or an idler wheel out of the track. The optical sensor can be cleaned and reset - mine has an indicator light to show it is “happy”.
