Our Dog Started Following Us Around And Last Night Slept On The Bed With Us

Dog as peed on my bed 2 nights in a row?

In an answer you gave someone else, you stated that you allow your dogs to get on your furniture, now you say that your dogs are not allowed up there... The reason I keep preaching about dogs on furniture is because it does have an effect on their mind as far as social status within the pack. Your dog peed on the bed and marked it as hers the only way she knows how. Put her in a crate and start OB training now, before it becomes a bigger issue. Good luck..

Am I wrong for not wanting the dog to sleep in the bed with us?

You are not wrong at all. My boyfriend and I had the same problem when he got his pit bull pup. He always wanted her up on the bed and for her to sleep at our feet or cuddled up with us. She had a couple accidents in bed during the day when we were awake but she hasn't had one in bed since she was about 5 months old. When she was smaller I didn't mind. But we have a small bed as it is for both of us, and she got bigger and dirtier and would start to jump on the bed without being asked. So I told him enough is enough and that when I stay over that the dog has to sleep in her bed on the floor, and she is allowed up if we are playing videogames on the bed but only if she is at least somewhat clean. I approached it calmly at first, it caused some fights, but eventually he realized I was right. And I mean hey, if I'm not over he can have her sleep in bed with him. I'd do the same with my dog. But I also think his dog respects me now a lot more. She sits in the passenger seat when I'm not around but when I get in the car she automatically moves to the back and gives me the spot, she also no longer jumps on the bed uninvited (at least when I'm around lol) So you should try to calmly explain to him why you feel uncomfortable and tell him that you love his dog, you just want to be able to sleep better and be cleaner. Maybe get the dog a nice dog bed you can put near your bed.

Why does my dog throw up at night while I sleep?

My husband and I have noticed that our pug, Wilbur, is throwing up once a week at night while we're asleep. he sleeps in bed with us and we never hear anything, but once a week, we wake up and find his pile of brown, chunky, vomit on the bed. It is so frusterating; since he does it at night and we don't hear it, we don't clean it up right away and it soaks into the down comforter we have on the bed! We take it to the dry cleaners once a week but this is getting expensive. We don't want to have him start sleeping in the kennel, I just want to know why it's happening. I don't think he eats grass, he gets 1 cup of food at 7am and 5:30pm and this usually happens in the middle of the night. Please help! Thanks

Does your dog sleep in your bed?

I'm curious as to what the majority is. My parents use to have our chihuahua in bed with them but I think later we decided in a cage was best...and we did get 3 other dogs so they're all in cages.

Just say where your dogs sleep at night. Also, if your dog does sleep in your bed, maybe add how well "potty-trained" he is.

Do you let your Dog sleep in your bed with you?

i allow both he has his bed and when he wants to he jumps in with me hes long haired and really soft and is great to cuddle with it is also more pleasant if he is clean and doesn't smell too dogish (regular bathing recommended)hes the baby and he knows it He's spoiled rotten but he knows who the master is being myself. i let him chose where he wants to sleep. and sometimes drag him into be myself when i need some hugs sorry just love my dog that's all.

Should I let my dog sleep on my bed? Why/why not?

I’m going to take a different approach here…First understand this: dogs are pack animals and they look up to you as the pack leader. So they want to be close to you! If you don’t let them sleep with you, at least offer them a nice doggie bed or blanket on the floor next to your bed.As for the pros and cons to letting them sleep IN the bed?I hate to say it but it really depends…Potential “ickys”Like others here have said, dogs don’t have shoes. So if you don’t bother to wipe down their paws or give them frequent baths after long walks outside, then you do tend to get a lot of dirt and other not-so-hygienic stuff laying next to you or on your pillow. Also, if you don’t keep up with properly grooming your dog and if the breed is prone to shedding, then you’re going to have a lot of hair on the sheets.Potential “benefits”Circadian rhythms: dogs thrive on routine and make excellent alarm clocks which ensures humans usually get better sleep. The presence of a dog (you know they love to live in the moment), they are a great partner to practice mindfulness and stillness. I love waking up to cuddles. There’s something special about being close to my pooches.Dogs have sleep cycles much similar to that of humans in that they go into REM (8–12% of their time is spent there) source: How Much Do Dogs Sleep and How Many Hours Does Fido Really Need Per Day? (The ANSWERS may surprise you!)In the link above I included, there’s also some studies showing cuddling with your dog released a hormone called oxytocin in humans and dogs! [1]It helps form bonds and reduces stress to promote a restful night! Also consider some dogs have anxiety and other sleep disorders so keeping them close to you may benefit both you and the pup!Now puppies are a bit different, so I only speak of adult dogs here.To avoid “messes” always feed earlier in the day, set routines and take them outside at night before bed. Also, coming back to the messy dog paws point, if you walk your dog on pavement a lot or on messy areas in an urban environment, just take a damp towel and wipe down their paws - this really helps minimize the mess inside the house! If your primary concern is yucky messes in the bed, just follow the steps above and you are good to go!Or just get a doggy bed close to you and train your pooch to stay down there :)Hope this helped!!Footnotes[1] How Much Do Dogs Sleep and How Many Hours Does Fido Really Need Per Day? Do you let your dog roam free in your house or do you keep it in a cage?

We crate trained our dogs. At night and when we left the house for short periods of time and only if we couldn't take them with us, the dogs went into their crates. Once they were trained they were given free range.

edited to repond to your addtional info: The greatest thing about dogs is they know when they've messed up. Shortly after our dog being trained, we had to leave for about an hour. When we came home, there was no happy dog greeting us at the door. We found her under our bed. We got her out, but she wouldn't look at us and her tail was between her legs. We knew.
