Outies And Innies As I Was An Outie For Several Years Of My Childhood Now I Am A Innie For Years

How can I turn my innie navel into outie again?

When I was a little kid my belly button used to be outie and now it's a deep innie. I'm not overweight or anything! I wonder why did it change and how can it turn outie again.

What determines whether a child gets an innie or outie belly button?

Some background:Doctors generally all clamp the cord at about the same place, so it doesn't play off tying technique, and there isn't time to ask for preference during delivery anyways, as it's recommended that the cord be clamped a mere 20-30 seconds after the baby is out of the uterus. We generally start with bellybuttons that resemble outies, but as the subcutaneous fat layer develops under the skin around the umbilicus, they "pop in" to become your typical innie. There's discussion on whether post-natal umbilical hernias cause outies; I don't know much about this particular condition, but I'm a bit skeptical--hernias will inflate/deflate with simple breathing, and while I suppose they could increase the chances of an outie after treatment, I doubt it's significant. The physiologic basis is the baby's vasculature!Every baby comes into this world with an umbilicus that can be represented like so, where "||" represents skin and "=" represents cord:||=========||When the cord is clamped upon the baby's birth, the umbilical arteries and veins that run its length naturally constrict in response and shrivel, causing the cord to atrophy and fall off. In most people, it ends up looking like this:||=||The cord falls off at about the level of skin, and the 2nd bullet point above takes care of the rest to create an innie:|fat|=|fat|In some people, however, a longer chunk of their umbilical vasculature stays open, keeping slightly more tissue perfused and alive:||===||You can see how this would create an outie:|fat|===|fat|What factors encourage that extra skin for the outie to stay, no one knows, you might as well ask why most people are right handed but some people end up left. :-)

Should you use a raisin on a newborn child to create an innie belly button? And when?

My mother-in-law mentioned that back in 1978, she was told by a hospital nurses to place a raisin in her newborn child's belly button to create an innie. However, she doesn't recall if it was right away or after the dried portion fell off. Right away seems unlikely because of the delicate condition, but I'm not an expert. It worked, but then again, I too have an innie without using this method. BTW, my mother laughed at the suggestion and went on about possible infection.

Oldest daughter give belly button lesson to her younger cousins? Innie or Outie?

Tonight we had a family gather and my youngest girl fell asleep on her 17 year old big sisters lap. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/94/38930973612545499814759.jpg/ Her pajamas rode up a little and you could see her belly button my daughter was busy talking and don't notice her little sisters belly button was peaking out. Looks like she had a cute old outie but i wasn't sure if it was innie or outie? just than her little cousins around 10, 8, 6 years old said what's that pointing to her belly button and my daughter goes omg that my sisters big olds belly button lol i never how much it sticks out :P. It's called outie the kids asked what's an outie?

So she was giving a belly button lesson pointing to her little sister's belly button and tell the legend of the outie and how we all have different belly buttons. My daughter of course has an innie but had never really studied her sisters belly button tell now. Is there anything wrong with my little girls belly button? Too big? Is it ok to give a belly button lesson to her cousins and let each one of them take turns poking it? http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/98/58994678086628c20980b.jpg/

Honest opinion: are outie belly buttons cute or ugly?

I have a big one that sticks out all the way about an inch from my stomach. I think its cute cuz it looks like a big button on my stomach (which is the point right =P) but some girls in my class were saying the other day that they were really glad they didnt have outies cuz they thought they were ugly. So what do people really think of them? If you saw a girl with an outie belly button like mine would you think it was cute? Its not that big of a deal but Im curious

Is there anyway to tell if a woman has an innie or outie?

I'm talking about vaginas. Innies make me go crazy and outies absolutely disgust me. I really don't want to marry a woman in the future and then find out she has an outie vagina, no matter how perfect she is in other ways. If my future wife's vagina isn't an innie I would rather die.
So is there any way at all to figure out which type of a vigana a woman has without actually inspecting her vagina?

What causes an outie belly button?

Everyone has a gap in the abdominal muscles through which the blood vessels of the umbilical cord pass. If that gap is large enough, part (or all) of an intestine can protrude, making an "umbilical hernia".Many newborns have an umbilical hernia, of whom some will subside as the intestines grow, if the size of the gap does not; (an 'outie' becomes an 'innie'). That happens by age 2 years, so I try to delay surgical referral until that age.Worried new parents can sometimes benefit from a little humor. So I tell such parents that people vary in their luck. Some people have a Volkswagen, and some have a Ford. Their lucky baby has an Audi ('outie'). Then I give them the more thorough explanation, above.

Why do most Black People have an "outie" bellybutton?

That is a question I use to ask myself as I am black girl who was born in London but went back to Nigeria Lagos when I was 9 years. From that age of 9 years I lived in Lagos and use to see local african children in streets with belly buttons sticking out. So I took a look at my own bellybutton and there's and asked myself the question why is mine not sticking out and theres.

The answer comes from when the child is delivered from the mother the placenta is cut off and the baby need to be bandaged around the bellybutton when they are newly born. As I noticed this when my little sister was brought back from the hospital. She has a bandage to protect the belly button and if the bandage is not wrapped well the belly button will protrudge. Since those children you I saw must have been delivered in the house and their mother or the local people did not know they have to tie a bandage round the tummy of the baby. But as I was given birth to in London in a hospital and civilised country the English nurses must have taken care of me after I was delivered.

So I hope you understand.
