Outside Activity Suggestions

Activity suggestions for single dad and 3 yr old daughter?

I have too have 3yr daughter, who is in shared care. It really doesn't matter what you do; You could spend heaps of money or none, as long as what you do is together!

My princess always wants a particular DVD on in the morning, so I make that her TV time. Then we do things together.

Play with her, don't just expect her to play.

I make mud pies/people with my daughter. I dance & sing (badly) with her. I have even done forward rolls (& I am almost 40yrs old) with her. We watch a movie together. & when it's tea time, she now turns off the TV, sets the table & we 'chat' while eating. (I do have the radio on in the background).

Keep it simple, sometimes the best fun you can have together, is just been together.

It will take time to re-accustom her to new/different ways of doing things, but it will be well worth it. Just make sure that what ever you do, you are having fun.....

Oh & tell her constantly that she is amazing..... :) And don't be afraid to look like a fool in front of her.... 3yr olds think you are wonderful & funny....

What is your suggestion on outdoor living space?

Hi. My favorite outdoor living space idea is a concrete fire pit with seating. There are some really awesome fire pits out there that you can create yourself. You can even put landscaping glass in your fire pit if you're using gas. Here a fantastic example of a fire pit/outdoor living space: Several companies offer tools, tutorials, and products to create your own space. www.DirectColors.com offers all that and live technicians to guide you through the whole process. They have great customer service! Hope this helps :D

What activities do parents suggest for kids who hate going outside? I'm looking for answers that avoid electronics and fit an introvert who loves math.

My kids and I love geocaching! It is part nature walk and part treasure hunt! There is a sense of mystery and excitement navigating through a world of hidden treasures that “muggles” are completely unaware of!Basically, items are hidden and their GPS location is tagged. These caches are located everywhere, from in town to the woods. They range in size from a film canister to a small box. Most contain a log book to sign and misc “treasures”. The rule is if you take an item, you leave another in its place! There are apps that you use on your smartphone that give you the coordinates and clues about each cache. It seems easy but the caches can be incredibly difficult to locate!Great family fun and an easy way to get everyone outside and excited to explore!

What are some ideas for substance abuse group activities?

I facilitate 4 substance abuse groups per week at my job.  The group is typically between 15-25 adults.  They truly enjoy activities that involve improving their self-esteem, art activities or games.  One that they really like is a take off of "Fear in a Hat" where everyone anonymously writes a problem they are going through currently on a slip of paper.  Each group member puts the problem in a cup and then they take turns pulling one problem out for the group to discuss.  It helps with learning problem solving skills.  Also it helps them learn they are not alone, alot of the other members have the same types of problems, etc... I find it helps me find out where the group is at as well as gives me topic ideas to focus on like dysfunctional relationships, pressure from friends, anger management etc...

Fun outdoor activities?

Disc golf is a very fun activity. Its mainley a summer activtey. But it cost nothing but the cost of your discs. Which is around 20.00 bucks for a decent one, there are cheaper ones as well. The courses are free. Just visit google and search disc golf courses in your town or state. ENJOY!!

What fun free outdoor activities are there to do with kids?

I babysit for a 9 year old girl and 7 year old boy Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM. The parents are pretty strict and I'm put in a difficult position because the kids think everything is boring.
-The parents DO NOT allow TV, video games, board games, legos, or crafts
-The parents want me to get them out of the house as much as possible
-It has to be something free because the parents won't leave any money and I don't want to pay for them out of my own pocket
-The kids hate forest preserves and playing at the park
Suggestions would be much appreciated thanks!!

Buddhist Club Activities?

Some ideas:

movies (little Buddha comes to mind)

speakers (ask a Buddhist monk to come in and discuss his life)

Read stories about the Buddha, then discuss (there are some beautiful ones)

Have you read Thich Nhat Hahn (sp?)? You could make it a part book club.

All the best.
