Can dogs really smell cancer?

Yes, dogs can smell cancer, it is not just some crazy rumor.

According to National Geographic dogs can smell cancer

in a patient's breath.

I first heard of it when I was younger on Unsolved Mysteries with Robert Stach........http://www.unsolved.com/0224-Dogdocs.htm...

It is amazing that dogs can do that! I truly believe God sent us Dogs to be our guardian angels.

Hey GSP owners! Does your dog get along with smaller breeds?

GSP? german shorthaired pointer? okay anyways me! he is such a wimp lol. we have a 2 yr old gsp and 2 other dogs a 5lb rat terrier and a 7lb chihuahua/jack russel they got along great until trucker (gsp) stepped on my rat terrier and dislocated his hip he is and old dog so it was not entiraly truckers fault but now we keep them seperate which is good anyways the rat terrier (block) enjoys staying inside anyways but trucker and reihnhold (its german, the chihuahua/russel) stay together still and are fine together gsps are very smart at least ours his mom and his brother is lol yes we know them too but my advice would be watch them when hes bigger b/c i know dachshunds can have a lot of trouble with their backs and it would not be good if he 'splatted' them as we call it when ours does it he likes to do that to toads for some reason

Dog health issues: BARF diet?

The biggest problem with feeding raw is getting it "right". It isn't a matter of tossing raw food into a bowl and calling it balanced, you have to learn something about canine nutrition needs in order to feed barf or prey correctly. The percentage way of calculating the barf isn't a safe way to go as it doesn't take into consideration that different foods have different caloric and nutritional contents that can upset the balance. Unless you can find a co-op, buying the right food is also more expensive than using kibbles. It can be time consuming and expensive and most dog owners simply won't take the time to get the balance right. They listen to the percentage owners and that really isn't feeding barf correctly.

Why are we pressured to spay and neuter dogs?

I'm surprised that you've gotten to many knee-jerk reactions from people on here accusing people who don't spay or neuter of being "ignorant and irresponsible."

If they are so intelligent and concerned about animal welfare, why don't they read ALL of the medical research (a sampling of which you provided) out there on spaying and neutering. This is not "new" information. Nor is it skewed. These are trained veterianarians and scientists conducting the research, and these things have been known for quite some time.

Duh, we all know that spaying and neutering helps control the animal population. But that's only ONE benefit. What if there is only ONE benefit and TEN health risks? What then?

We might have fewer unwanted animals, but then more health problems. Is that justified?

I agree with you that across-the-board spay and neuter should be questioned, esp. when advocated for animals that are not yet mature.

Rahu Dasha is almost killing me. What am I supposed to do?

Background:I am curently undergoing 18 years Rahu mahadasha which will end in 2021. It started when I had just passed out of my college. Before the mahadasha started, I was a brilliant student - a rank holder at state level. As soon as Rahu mahadasha started, I could see the differences - less marks, low self esteem, dissatisfaction in whatever I would do and lack of clarity. So you can imagine. I was always pretty keen on doing something scholarly in life, but the mind was always confused.Solution as per astrologer:The astrologer told me to recite Ganesh chalisa 11 times a day. I did it religiously for atleast 5 years without a single day missed out - this to clear up mind and lower stress levels. Also, the astrologer told me if I would move out of my birth place (city) I could achieve big. I did. I actually achieved some good degree which is considered tough and unachievable by many, although with a lower pace. And also got placed (without efforts or contacts) to a big multinational, which is a dream for many.My two cents:Apart from the success story above, I am not too sure if its because of the mahadasha, but I have felt like commiting suicide many times (never attempted though). I have been single though out my life, I am 34 now. I remain distressed because of the job, lonely, have very small friend circle, I am stressed out all the time for one or the other reason. I went into depression many times over heart breaks (from one sided feelings) and took long to come out of it (recent most is 2 years long time), lost my jobs couple of times even though I was always appreciated for my performance.I have understood from the astrologers that Rahu mahadasha magnifies the ill effects and so we are always crying, stressing and take longer to move on from even smallest of the things. All I can say is that you are not alone, and try what astrologer told me to do, it may work for you. I have stopped it as I have turned agnostic for some reason and do not indulge in relgious stuff (who knows it could be Rahu mahadasha effect too ;) )
