Pain In Arm/vein After Blood Was Drawn

Can blood be drawn from the same vein twice?

I've been on both sides of the needle. I have both taken the 3hr GGT and drawn blood on people for the same test. Yes, they can use the same vein for all 4 sticks. They won't go in at exactly the same spot, just above or below. Better to have one sore spot on your arm then 4-5 different locations. And you will most likely have a bruise. Remember to bring food with you for after the testing, something bland because you're going to be really nauseated. GOOD LUCK

Burning veins while blood is drawn. Why?

Ordinarily the needle hurts when it goes in and that's it.

What happened today: The nurse began to draw blood from my right arm. It was so painful I had to tell her to stop. Another nurse came and tried the left arm. The same thing.

This concerns me only because it has never happened before, and because although I am thin and 35, I feel like I'm about 95, awful all the time.

Red spots where blood was drawn from arm?

There's just some extra blood that was percolating from the first pricked vein.

And just a mental note, all those nurses that aren't student nurses were once student nurses.

As a student nurse myself, I find we get blamed for a lot, though just the other day, I was in emergency getting a blood test done and I had a nurse that definitely had been out of school and she stuck me about four different times to find my vein.

Carrying that stigma onward just makes us want to stick you more times.

Vein hurts 4 days after blood draw?

I had my blood drawn about 4 days ago and my vein still hurts. Whenever I stretch out my arm or bend it, my vein feels like it snaps almost like a rubber band inside my arm and it creates this shooting, uncomfortable pain where the blood was drawn (on the inside part of my elbow area where the arm bends).
I've had my blood drawn numerous times but I've never had this happen to me before, especially days after the blood was taken.
Is this normal?
When will it stop?
Anyone else have this happen to them?

I have a hard bump in (arm) vein after blood draw 6 days later, is this NORMAL?

I would go to the ER
what if it is a blot clot?!
get a second opinion to assure you are not in any danger.

Bruise and swollen vein after getting blood drawn?

Sometimes the site of a blood test with hurt and/or bruise more than other times. It's often to do with the skill of the person doing the test, how you're feeling generally, etc. It's unlikely to be a blood clot, but panic can make you feel really bad. Try to relax and not worry about it, but if it's still not feeling right in a few days, a quick visit to the doctor will help to put your mind at ease.

Arm still hurts months after having blood drawn?

I had blood drawn back in February for a biometrics screening test at work. I have blood work done every 3 months to check my diabetes. I told the lady to use a butterfly needle (because they need to use one on me all the time) because I have deep veins, they move, and will collapse. She told me she doesn't need to use a baby needle, and she knows how to get blood. She could not find a vein, so she tried my hand. When she could not get blood there, she broke out the "baby needle" and tried one more time in my arm. She was moving the needle around, and then I felt the pain I have never felt before. It was a shooting pain that went down my arm. It also felt numb. I told her she was done. She told me I must be dead, because I didn't even have a drop of blood when she pulled out the needle. I told her if she knew what the hell she was doing she would have got blood. There was another guy there, and he tried, but he could not get blood. It has been over 2 months now, and the pain is gone, but every time I pick something up with that arm I get a pain where she tried to draw blood. I am just wondering if she hit something that she shouldn't have, and how much longer I will have pain. It is not that bad, but I do feel some pain every time I pick something up.

Why do I have a bruise after getting blood drawn?

After a blood test, you may have a small bruised area on your skin where the needle went in. Rarely a larger area of bruising may appear. This can be because there was a lack of pressure at the site of the jab or the blood vessel was damaged by the needle. It is recommended not to bend your elbow after having blood taken as this opens up the vein and may result in more bruising. Bruising is harmless and will disperse in time and does not require treatment. However, in Blood test lab if you frequently get bruises after having a blood test, tell your GP.Some conditions may increase the risk of bruising. These include:• Taking anti-coagulant medicines such as warfarin or aspirin• Conditions such as bleeding disorders• Where it is difficult to locate the vein, for example if the arm is swollen• Elderly patients may bruise more easilyIn order to reduce this risk as much as possible, please tell the person taking the blood if you have any conditions as stated above, or if you have previously experienced problems during or following blood taking in a private or local labs.

Vein hurts after blood test?

I've had countless blood tests these past few months, at the bends of my forearms, the back and sides of my hands, you name it, it's been done. Thing is, it doesn't hurt at the time, it's kind of a shock to your body, but it will hurt for a few days until the bruising comes out. Until then, it will hurt a bit, and tender to touch, and you will have pain bending your arm, and even slight knocks will feel bad. The best thing you can do, is if it's that much pain, take a painkiller, and rest your arm. Don't go over-dramatic with what you do with it, the less you bend and play about with it, the quicker it will heal.

The pain will be there until the bruising comes out, until then, nothing else you can do.

Good luck!
