Painting Small Metal Furniture

How would I go about painting furniture that is made of particle board and has the laminate surface?

You will never go wrong by using a primer. You will want to degloss the surface. there are chemical deglossers but they are for use on glossy paint. I don't know if they would work on the laminate. Sanding with 150 grit sandpaper will work. Use a bonding primer and two coats of latex paint, satin or semi gloss finish. The primer can be tinted to the finish color for better coverage. A sprayer can give a good finish if you know what you are doing but this is probably not a good project for learning to spray. I definitely would not use spray cans. You should be able to get good results with a brush. The job will be easier and your results will be better if you buy a quality brand of paint and brush. The good stuff is not much more expensive than the cheap stuff.

Wall color with white furniture?

@sprooga. I'm actually a guy lol. I have a really nice modern style white bed with it's matching a nightstand and a small black and white leather couch. I'm also getting a white chair and it also has black on the back of that. Then I'm gonna get a black writing desk. So far, my moms friend is a painter and he gave her a really great design. My mom told me it was light blue with navy accents and something else can't remember. She said it would look really nice with the furniture I picked out

Can i paint my metal frame futon?

I recently did just that! I had a black futon and changed it to white. I went to the hardware store and this is what they told me...and it worked great!
1.) sand the futon down with a fine sandpaper...not down to the bare metal just to scuff up.
2.) spray it with metal primer paint. They do have it in a spray can just like the paint.
3.) paint the futon the color of choice after the primer dries completely. I waited 24 hours between each coat...
4.) after the paint dries, put on a clear coat finish...also available in a spray can. This will help with preventing the paint scratching off if bumped or something.

It took me a weekend to do mine. I sanded the futon, then washed it with just a little sudsy water,to get the gritty stuff off, let it dry...then primered it. The next day I painted it white. And the 3rd day (Sunday) I sprayed on the clear coat finish. By Monday it was all pretty and shiney and ready to go!

Good Luck..and enjoy!

How do you remove spray paint from metal?

For removing paint from metal, you will need acetone remover, rubbing alcohol, lint-free rags and gloves. Get a lint-free cloth and soak it in rubbing alcohol (not acetone). Squeeze out any excess. Then just rub the alcohol on the paint until it comes off. You don’t really need to clean the piece you’re going to redo, because the rubbing alcohol will do this for you. Again, take your lint-free cloth and soak it in acetone (again, squeeze out any excess–have acetone drip everywhere is worse than rubbing alcohol). Rub the spot you want to fix until the paint rubs off. This is something I like to do if I accidentally get too close to what I’m spraying and the paint drips. I just pull that section off the piece I’m redoing and then spray it again. Works every time. It depends on what you used to seal it. If it was water-based, rubbing alcohol should get the sealant off. If the sealant is oil-based, use acetone. Those are the two main types of paint and sealant you’ll see, so these should work for just about every project. Also, when sealing paint, remember to use the same base. The paint will dry to the cloth and make it difficult to use again. You can try hand-washing them after you’re done, but it doesn’t work so well. Do NOT put them in the washing machine. You’re actually not supposed to put clothes in the washer if they have paint on them, anyway. But acetone and rubbing alcohol are highly flammable. Never put articles that have been soaked in them in the washer and especially not in the dryer.
