You can also apply to a grocery store or Walmart/Target.

What part time jobs should a 16 year old get?

I agree with Xena Lee in that gaining soft skills or skills that are not taught in the classroom are important. You may decide to take a position that is not really what you want to do for your career, but on a resume and in your interviews in the future you should focus on the other skills you obtained.  For example, if you were a cashier at a major fast food restaurant, you obtained skills such as dealing with customers, time management, processing payments, cash handling, etc. Many of these skills cannot be taught in the classroom. If you have a specific skill that you know quite well and would like to develop the skill, you can also do this through experience. For example, some sort of technical skills. Many people will say that they have such skills, but most people only have basic knowledge, at best, and proving your high competency can easily be done through experience. Feel free to get in touch privately if I can be of further help. I am an education and business professional that has lived in China for more than the past six years. Part time jobs for 16 year olds in NYC?

I know you're talking about the McDonald's next to the Ditmars Boulevard station, but I don't know any of the employees there. Maybe you can look at the Key Food across the street if McDonald's doesn't work out.

There's also a Trade Fair on 37th and Ditmars (there are others in the neighborhood such as on 30th Avenue for instance, but I'll assume that this one is closest to you), the Best Yet supermarket on 37th between 19th and 20th Avenues (I've seen a lot of young employees there), CVS which is just steps away from the McDonald's you mentioned. You could also look at all the stores across from the Pistilli condos on 45th and Ditmars. Maybe Dunkin' Donuts or the supermarket at the very end will take you.

You cannot apply to any of the Blockbusters in the neighborhood since their employees must be at least 18, and you're underage.

Employers do look at online applications and if they're impressive enough, you will get a call back. Often times though, they aren't enough, and if you want to secure a job badly, you have to call back repeatedly and follow up constantly...just to make your interest well known.

How much does a 16 year old make a week in a part time job?

It would depend on where you live. Most teenagers make minimum wage or just above it but minimum wage per state varies. Like I live in Vermont and the minimum wage is right about $8.40 but minimum wage in say Virginia is like $7.40. I would look online and find out exactly what the minimum wage is in your state. Once you know odds are you will make that or just above.

When I got my first job I worked as a waitress and waitress wage was $3.93 and I made $4.00 an hour. (No this was not a long time ago, I'm only 19 and I had my first job when I was 16) When I got my second job since my first job was a summer only job I was making $8.50 an hour.

Just don't except to be making what your parents or other adults are making as a teenager.

Good Luck!

I'm still 16 years old and I want to have part-time job. How can I find part time jobs in Jakarta?

Have you considered Starbucks barista?I was applying for their part-time barista when I was in college. Just for the sake of having job experience that is not related with my area (i.e. economics). From what I heard, the salary is quite nice compared to other f&b joints. Additionally, a free beverage for every 4 hours and being stationed in a crowd area, with air-conditioned store.Be mindful tho. The reason why I was rejected was they expected 6-month working tenure, while I only had 3-month summer holiday. They also expect you to work 20–40 hours, with 4 or 8 hours per work shift. Working in retail can be also quite damning, you know. That’s why it’s called retail therapy for buyer but retail torture for the service provider. Also, not quite sure 16 years old is in their age range but there’s no harm to ask them right?Other alternatives for part-time job: courses teacher (english, math, foreign language, etc), paid volunteer for any event, paid audience for tv live shows.
