People Have You Noticed If A Kid Is Overweight

What do fit people think about overweight people at the gym?

I've spent 20 years working in various levels of [quality] fitness clubs as both a fitness instructor, a personal trainer and a regular gym goer so I've seen a vast array of clientele and situations over the years. One of the interesting and consistent themes that runs through all of these experiences is as another responder said, it's not junior high gym class, as is probably the fear of someone new to the gym. The reality is that everyone is there for their own personal reasons and everyone knows how hard it is to motivate yourself (and as an instructor, others) to be there, to work hard and to come back again the next day and the next. No one was born fit, everyone had to start from somewhere–even the 'genetically gifted'–and being thin certainly does NOT mean you are in shape, nor does appearing to be overweight mean you can't outrun half the gym members on any given day. Fit people know this. I suspect, however, that newbies don't and likely feel judged. Not accounting for your occasional douchebag, I'd confidently say the vast majority of fit people see an overweight person at the gym and are glad they are there (and probably silently cheering them on) because everyone knows taking the time to physically care for yourself is not an easy task, especially if you are recovering from injury, work long hours, are a parent, are starting from a more difficult place, etc. There's an unspoken respect for those who take the time to come to the same place for roughly the same goal...to be a healthier person. And an interesting advantage of being a long time regular in the fitness world is seeing people change over time...the ones who started out totally out of shape and have transformed themselves. It's very inspiring. If you've been fortunate to witness this, you see an overweight person and think to yourself, "they could easily be 50 lbs. lighter than they were 8 months ago (even if you never saw them until today) and by the end of the year they will be in even better shape...good for them!" You just never know where they are in their journey.Another very inspiring 'type' at the gym is the 70+ year olds. They are usually the most consistent...they don't screw around. They'll be there on Thanksgiving before breakfast. Most everyone secretly hopes, "please let that be me at that age..."

Have you noticed there are no "fat" people on disney channel?

I don't mean fat, as in extremely fat. Like at least chubby or pudgy. I don't watch disney, but I baby sat my cousin for 9 hours, and he just sat there watching the disney channel; so I watched with him :P
Well conclusion, I think it isn't fair that disney only shows skinny *** people. Like there are some kids out there who deserve to be famous, and won't get into hollywood because of their weight.
yep . . .

Which Zodiac signs have you noticed tend to be FAT?

Capricorns are NOT fat, every single capricorn I know is stick skinny, especially the females

I think that cancers tend to be a little more overweight , mainly because most of the cancer women that I know are a little chubby, maybe they arent exactly the exercise type

Have you noticed parents of skinny kids get almost as much guff as those with overweight children?

My 7 yr old is a pretty active kid and pretty skinny. By his own request, he takes tumbling twice a week, plays on a basketball team once a week, and is on the swim team (he practices about 10 to 15 hours a week, plus meets).

I wasn't sure what size swim trunks he would need for swim team so the coach had him try on trunks to see which size to order. He tried on the smallest trunks available a size 20 (I'm not sure how the 20 measures up in regular sizes), but they were way to big in the waist. Another parent was there (he tried the trunks on over his existing trunks) and couldn't help but comment on his lack of a waist. I laughed because he has always been small, but the other parents made comment about me taking my kid home and "making sure he eats" They said it in a joking manner. But we get this a lot.

I let the other parents know that he has always been small framed and his daddy is tall and skinny. My 7 yr old can get a size 2 on and wear them fine in the waist, the length doesn't work out so well and his daddy is 6'7 and 180 pounds... He just a skinny kid.

I have noticed that parents of heavier kids (and I'm not talking about obese kids, just a little heavier than norm) and parents of pretty skinny kids get a lot of guff for something that their kids will most likely grow out of.

And why is it any other parents business if my kid is skinny or over weight? Don't you think as a society we have started over stepping boundaries and invading other's lives a little too much?

Have you noticed that Ugly parents have Beautiful kids?

Wow, um that's pretty harsh (the nicknames... )

But I do notice that *sometimes*. I know I can personally see that in Jon and Kate (of Jon and Kate +8). I'm sorry but Kate is not exactly what I'd call pretty (her hair is a travesty!) and Jon isn't one I'd call a looker (in my opinion), but their kids are beautiful.

But on the flip side, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are both attractive (in my opinion) and their daughter is beautiful too.

It all depends on what you define as "ugly" and "beautiful".

If you gain 5-10 pounds do people usually notice?

Depends on your height and current weight usually. If you are very tall, it may be less noticeable compared to a short person putting on weight. As well, if you were super skinny and you put on weight it may be more noticeable than if you were an average size and put on a bit of weight that kept you at an average size.

People also have fat deposits in different places so that can be a factor in how noticeable weight gain is. If you tend to put on weight in the middle or your face it may be more noticeable than if you put on a bit more in your legs and arms.

Why do fat people wear flip-flops?

HHMMM I haven't noticed that at all, as a matter of fact I have seen quite the opposite. I see mostly teenagers wearing them to show off their brightly painted toe nails!!!!!!!
