Perfect First Car For Me

Should I buy a used car as my first car?

It depends on how you plan to use it, where you live, where do you work, how much do you drive, your finances and many more variables.I see many people here almost forcing you to buy a used car because everyone assumes that you will “learn from it”, “maintain it”, “dent it”, “learn to appreciate luxury” etc. and one should buy a new car only when one has had enough experience with a used one. I get where that’s coming from, but it’s not necessary that you have the same needs/experiences as others. One usually tends to be careful and responsible with a brand new car, and careless with a used car, and that’s where you hear these stories about scratches/dents. Its psychological. When I graduated and started a 40-hr a week job, I got a new Toyota Camry. I got my driving license and insurance just two days before I bought the car. Not that I didn’t know how to drive, as I had driven before but on the other side of the road and with a manual transmission. I really needed a car at the time especially for work. Here is what I had in mind:Warranty. My time is precious, I didn’t want to keep checking all issues of my car (brakes/tires etc) and wanted something that wouldn’t cause me inconvenience on the highway, which might happen with used cars.I needed a car for 10 or maybe more years, and getting a new would surely last me that long if well maintained. Something that wouldn’t let me down, so that I could afford something like a used BRZ/FR-S alongside for the weekends.I needed something that would run with as little maintenance as possible, nothing much from regular oil changes, tire rotation etc.4 doors, spacious interior, great leg room, and somewhat decent on mileage (30+mpg at least). Also keep in mind that you can get new cars for 0 percent interest, whereas used cars come with interest if you buy from a dealer, or you need to pay cash. I didn’t have cash at the time, so I simply had no other option.50,000 miles so far on my very first car, and not a single issue, nor a single chip or a dent.Yes you can get by with a used car as well, that will save you a lot of money. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that you will “learn” something out of it.

VW Golf GTI as a first car?

My dad had an Mk1 as his first car and still raves on about it. He has always been telling me since I was small that the GTI is the perfect first car for me. The Golf GTI never really got to me but I fell in love with the MK7 GTI as soon as I got in it. I want to hear other people's opinions on it as a first car or any other suggestions.

2003 Acura TL- Good first car?

I am 16 and recently got my license... I have done quite a bit of research and I think the Acura TL would be the perfect car for me. Great reliability, styling, comfort, etc. I have been on www.carsoup.com and I have found a few that are nice, usually between 90,000-120,000 miles, 2003 or older, usually around $9,000. Would this type of car be a good one for a new driver? Also, my parents probably aren't going to spend much more than $4,000 on a car for me. My grandma will give me $1,000, and the rest is up to me... I am getting a job this summer to start saving. Also I might wait for a year or two to save for it and get better at driving before I buy a car.

2010 Chevy Camaro as first car?

Well inspect your insurance costs to be well over $400 bucks even if your on someone else insurance. In my opinion a 2010 Camaro isn't a perfect first car. And no a Camaro looks more of a sporty car to me and you would look stupid carrying a surfboard around on top of it. If your going to be driving the car around alot you better have a life time supply of gas because you'll be filling up every 4 days. Go get a used Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla first becuse most likely a new driver will scratch a new car up.

Is a 2013 dodge dart a good first car?

The Dart is a good first car if you want an efficient effective car that can reliably get you from point A to point B. It's style and ride suggest it's easy on the wallet and insurance. In other words, it's not as expensive to own as a sports car. And that's just it, the Dart is not a sports car. It cannot go any faster than other cars in it's class. With the high cost of fuel, car makers are not really designing cars for ultra speed and performance. There are some who do, but you'll pay extra for cars like that. While the Dart's turbo 1.4L engine sounds good, it's really all about making a little car get good gas mileage. If you have a Dart w/ the engine and all you do is bury your foot in the throttle, it will be dead in short order. If you want a Dart with a little extra performance, then get the model later this yr w/ the 2.4L engine. Get the manual trans of course b/c imo it's the only way to go. Your not immature, you just haven't figured out that raising hell with a car is a waste of time n' money.
