Can you persuade someone to do something while they are sleeping?
Is it possible to go up to someone sleeping, and tell them to do something wen they wake up? like, if i go up to someone sleeping and say "when you wake up, you will have a great desire to clean" or something like that?

Need is a funny thing.I arrived in Las Vegas to work for a bit, only to find nobody had heard my request for a PC. 90% of what I do needs a PC.The resulting two days of bitching resulted in the appearance of a Microsoft Surface Pro.I was utterly mesmerized. I needed a PC, but a piece of junk would have done. All I had to do was download Atmel Studio and a terminal emulator for that work. This thing, and it was minimal, was a complete workstation as good as that on my desk back home. It had to go back to inventory when I returned to Louisville. I did try to whine them into assigning it to me.But I figured they wouldn’t - they don’t like the same porn - so two days after that I went to Best Buy and got my own Surface 4 Pro.I had had a hacking incident before, and I had also used Kaspersky to help that out in past situations. I got that again.The only of my 3 devices that is not a headache to use with the security stuff is the Surface. never a hitch. So there’s a huge improvement for me over what I had - of my personal computing capability.Atmel Studio does not mean I do only embedded systems. I also need electronic CAD for PCB design. I also need something like MathCAD, which I use mostly for the symbolic solver - which I now get online. FlexPDE. All the office crap - I solve using a spreadsheet when I can so that it’s easier to transfer to everyone else. Bottom line: I use the shit out of a PC.So…Need? I coulda got by. But now I can do anything that I can do at home while on those four-hour plane trips. I can remind in real time someone to not forget me at McCarran - something that happens. I don’t have to wait till I got my bag to check the cameras to see if ex broke in after hearing that i’m out of town.Maybe I made need after buying, but that poor Surface knows for sure it got the wrong owner.

Persuading and convincing are fairly similar. However, persuading can be thought of as a little less formal ("please please PLEASE"). The person gets persuaded to do something but isn't totally won over. Convincing is the act of really bringing someone over to you're side; when someone is convinced, their logical and moral stance is with you now. Compelling means pushing someone to do something by emotion or control. If I compell you to do my chores for me, I've got some kind of hold over you-- maybe you owe me money or I know dirty secrets about you. If an argument is compelling, it's not necessarily logical, but it's powerful. A compelling way to get someone to buy you lunch is to burst into tears over being so hungry.

It’s a pretty general question, so hard to answer except in generalities. It’s often said, ‘Better to ask forgiveness than seek permission’ so the advice to ‘just do it’ is good, but doesn’t suit every situation. What I also used to say to managers that I coached was ‘if you want to keep power, exercise it.’ In other words, always push the limits of what you’re ‘allowed’ to do. What you’re ‘allowed to do’ is another way of saying that you’ve built up credibility by doing good work, for the right people, at the right times. That empowers you to do some (at least a few) things without asking. Do them!!! When you’ve done some great things without being asked or without asking, that is ‘exercising your power.’ At first it may be only a bit, but with each bit you reach out and do, what you can reach out and do next grows.Will you make mistakes? Yes. So be sensible, take calculated risks, know when you are reaching a bit beyond what you’re theoretically ‘allowed’ to do, but do it! Nothing convinces someone to let you do something you feel they need to be convinced about than having DONE something previously that you felt they need to be convinced about… but you did it on your own. Now they have some faith that you can do such things. If you constantly seek permission or stand around waiting for orders, you will come to be seen as timid and uncertain of yourself. Better some small mistakes for which you apologize and ask forgiveness, than that.Now if your boss threatens to fire you when you do something ‘without permission’ and it has turned out well, then you will recognize you are working for an idiot and need to move to a better boss, different company or whatever. Working for a boss who has to give permission for you to go to the restroom is soul-destroying and career-destroying. If you were wrong and it went badly, apologize, but if you were right and it went well and you still get in trouble, start arranging to find somewhere else to take your skills.
How can I convince my mom to buy me a trumpet?
A couple of years ago, my mom rented me a trumpet so I could play in a band. Now I've moved to a completely differnet country where they don't sell any trumpets. I'm in Canada right now; that's where I was before. I want to convince my mother to buy me a trumpet from Long and McQuade in Toronto because I feel the need to practice, but the last trumpets she rented for me weren't of good quality and they broke easily. She thought I broke them because I was too rough with them. How could I convince her to buy me a trumpet? Could anyone help plz?
