Pharmacy Schools Distance Learning

Are there any distance learning program for pharmacy in India?

B.Pharm is very practical based course. Practical courses are always equal to the number of theory courses every semester and allotted equal marks. This means that, for example, the practical of pharmacology will not be considered a part of the theory and both are given 100 marks each. Moreover, it is a health related program and a 4 year professional course and not a BA/BSc programme. So, no, I don't think there is any distance learning program for Pharmacy, in India.

Can I work as a pharmacy in a pharmacy with a medical high school degree?

I can only answer based on the current US standards, as I am not familiar with pharmacy law in other countries. With a high school diploma, you can work as a clerk. The clerk’s duties are answering phones, filing prescription hard copies, checking patients out at the register. To work as a pharmacy technician, you must take and pass the Pharmacy Tecnician Certification Exam (PTCE), which is administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). This is an national organization recognized in all 50 states. Once you pass the exam, you become a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT), and must also seek and gain licensure from the state you work in prior to being legal to work as a tech. There is no degree required to become a CPhT outside of a high school diploma, but without experience in a pharmacy, the exam would be difficult to pass. This is why many community colleges and trade schools offer a Pharmacy Technician training program (roughly equivalent to an associates degree).Pharmacy technicians have the following job duties: entering prescription data into the computer system, counting pills, labeling vials, mixing IVs, loading drugs into medicine cabinets, and preparing medication for use.Best od luck! Thanks for the A2A!

Can you learn to work in a pharmacy from a trade school?

There are several different ways to become a pharmacy technician, who can work in a pharmacy. One route, that has been advocated to become the new standard, is by completing a pharmacy technician training program in a community college. Look for one that is certified by the American Society of HealthSystem Pharmacists. Some of these are part of an associate’s degree while others may only offer a certificate. There will be an experiential component as well. I hosted one such student from South Plains College. Most pharmacy technicians, currently, are trained on the job. Some states offer Pharmacy Technician Trainee Certification to individuals who are eventually going to take a formal exam. After either type of training, passing an exam will allow state recognition as a Certified Pharmacy Technician. I believe that there are two separate accrediting organizations at this time that are accepted by most states, but some states may only accept the Pharmacy Technicians Certification Board (PTCB) credential, which is the oldest organization offering certification. The other is the National HealthCareer Associations ExCPhT program.

How is the Georgia Tech University for distance learning? I would like to pursue my MS by opting for the distance learning program. Are there any other universities offering similar MS programs?

A2A. How is the Georgia Tech University for distance learning? I would like to pursue my MS by opting for the distance learning program. The way I judge distance learning degree is in the title of the degreeFor example, you cited in your link the OMSCS program that is Georgia Tech online MSCS that is the exact same degree, same diploma, as their on campus program. So when you say you have an MSCS degree from Georgia Tech, there is no way for anyone to know if you took the courses online or on campus unless you tell them. This is completely different for Harvard University where Harvard Extension School that offers a bachelor’s of liberal arts BLA that is different from Harvard College bachelor’s of arts BA.Are there any other universities offering similar MS programs? At present, I have not found other online MSCS programs that has the exact same diploma.

I am a first year pharmacy student. Are there online courses that I can take to help me in my career?

There is a Youtuber by the name of Armando Hasudungan. He has all kinds of videos on physiology and pharmacology. I would really recommend them.My biggest piece of advice to you is to learn about drugs, first year is mainly biology and chemistry, not pharmacology.Use your free time to learn about drugs, look up every single drug you encounter. What is it for? Drug class? Side effects? Interactions? If you start learning about drugs from first year then you'll really enjoy 3rd and 4th year.
