Physics Help Tryna Finish My School Cause I Have Two Jobs

Who has a physics degree and what did you do with it?

Degree? BS in physics, MS in quantum mechanics, PHD in nuclear engineering.

Enjoy the courses? Oh yea, they are a definite mind bender.

Job offers? Plenty.

My job? Calculate the likelihood of a nuclear chain reaction to spontaneously start with fissionable materials of a given mass of a given geometry with several variable moderators. This is done to ensure that no one dies while manufacturing nuclear fuel rods for commercial power plants.

Do I enjoy doing my job? Yes, I get great satisfaction knowing that my job keeps people from getting killed.

Pay well? Are you kidding?

I failed my second physics class in college....help!?

Hey, don't give up so easily! Look more carefully at what you have done: In physics 1, you had a C-, and you re-took it and ended up with a B, that's a lot of improvement right there! I strongly recommend you retake physics 2. Jobs are easy to get man, you could work at a gas station with practically no education. But we're talking careers here! Sucking at something does not mean you can't excel in another field. For example, last year, I got a 64 in Chemistry, re-took it twice and ended up with a 96.

Life is like a scrap book, & before you die, you should have some pretty sweet memo's rather than, oh, yeah, I quit that ****. Sucked. O well.

I think this is my first answer ever trying to motivate people, but in your case I had to, because you showed you do get better with time and practice. Who knows, you coulda scored A+ if you had taken physics 1 again. Go ahead and give physics 2 another shot, you won't miss forever :) If you do, you'll boost your GPA back up with your new physics 2 mark replacing your old physics 2 mark. Just cause you failed the course before, doesn't mean you have automatically failed your future efforts :) Good luck!

Did I ever think chemistry would become one of my strongest subjects in the future? NO.
If you don't try again, will you ever know how high you can score that shiit? NO :)

Do Majors like Physics and Chemistry look down on Biology Majors?

In my degree (chem major), I've noticed this type of conceded attitude amongst a lot of physical science students (chem, physics, nano tech etc.). They think that because they have to deal with a lot of mathematics and physics that they're somehow ''above'' the life science students. Science is not a competition nor is it a platform to assert superiority over other disciplines.

The point is that all scientific disciplines have their own unique level of difficulty and comparing them in such a way, only exemplifies such peoples' ignorance and narrow-minded perception.

I'm sure if they knew what 2nd and 3rd year bio subjects were like, they wouldn't be so quick to judge.

Physics please help :) Tryna finish my school cause I have two jobs?

Sound waves are mechanical waves. Which statement is true for this type of wave?

A. Sound waves transport their energy through a vacuum.
B. Particles of the medium are displaced completely from their initial positions, moving along with the wave front.
C. Particles of the medium move perpendicular to the direction of the energy transport.
D. Sound waves require a medium in order to transport energy.

I'm failing AP Physics!?

Its only Semptember and I'm already failing AP Physics. I have an A in AP Calculus, which is weird because I thought Calculus would help Physics. Do you think I could raise my grade to at least a B by the end of October? And do you have any tips on surviving in AP Physics? Its really confusing to me. Plus, my school is weird.. we don't offer regular physics, so there's only AP.

Accounting or Physics degree?

Don't do anything you're not interested in. I'm a graduate and it's still extremely hard to find a job in your chosen field. I studied Digital animation because I've always enjoyed making cartoons as a little kid and only still have the drive to make it only because it's something I enjoy doing in my free time and I would love to get paid for it. If it's just a good money you're after, there are plenty of people that go through that every day without going uni but having to sacrifice a good life. There are so many courses out there to chose from and you could probably study something you are interested in. A friend of mine is studying music production because he's into all genres of music and would like to create it for a hobby and/or money.
