Congrats on the pregnancy! But...NO, you should not get piercings while you are pregnant and no reputable piercing studio would pierce you while you are pregnant. Infection is always a risk of piercing. If you were to develop an infection, you could become septic, putting the babies life at risk. Even if the infection were minor, it could cause severe damage to the fetus. No piercing is worth risking your babies health or life. Good luck!

I wouldn't get it done. If you get an infection it could be bad for the baby. Also when you put your body into pain (even tho that doesn't hurt really bad) the blood in your body rushes to where it thinks your hurt, which would be the piercing and it's never good to take that away from the baby. i've never gotten a piercing while pregnant, but i did get a tattoo (i didn't know i was pregnant at the time) and the pain was terrible because it kind of sends your baby into shock, so i imagine piercings wouldn't be good either.

A piercing is like a tattoo…. it is an open wound. Sure, it is a minor wound, but a wound nonetheless. ANY wound can get infected and a minor infection can lead to a major one, which could lead to your needing medicines, either OTC or prescription. It could even land you in the hospital.So, sure, these things can happen any time you get pierced or tattoo’ed. The difference is, you can take medicines when you are not pregnant that you cannot take when you are. So, not only are you endangering the unborn child, you are endangering yourself. A good mom would, if she found herself sick, very likely work hard to not take meds harmful to her baby, so it means she could likely get much sicker very fast.Why take that risk just because of vanity?
Septum piercing while pregnant?
legitimate piercers are not allowed to pierce pregnant women. (nor can you get tattooed while you are pregnant). the idea is that if you get an infection, you could pass it on to your baby, and blah blah. likewise, if you were to contract some sort of disease, you could pass it on to the baby. whatever the reason, it's illegal to pierce pregnant women.

NO! First of all, anytime you get a piercing or tattoo you run the risk of getting hepatitis. I don't care how clean the place it, it's still a risk. Hepatitis would harm you and your baby considerably. Secondly, these other people are right. You can go into shock and get very, very sick. I had my tongue pierced when I was 19 and I went into severe shock and had to be hospitalized. Thirdly, you're immune system is down and not a good at protecting you during pregnancy. You could pick up some illness from the place and the piercing that you normally wouldn't have if you hadn't been pregnant. You would be better off waiting a few weeks after your pregnancy to get it done. Good luck and congratulations!

Infected piercing while pregnant? ?
I know this is weird but I have my belly button pierced twice once on top and once on bottom. Ive had them for 4 years, when i started to get bigger i bought special pregnancy belly rings that work really good. well for some reason my bottom belly ring got really infected so i decided to just go ahead and take both belly rings out that way the top one wouldn't get infected either. Well its been like 2 days now and its getting worse, i clean both of them every day. So my question is, Maybe im just being paranoid but im thinking of going to the doctors? should I? I know that sounds dumb but could the infection there hurt the baby in any way? Its just been like a week now and its not getting better and i really don't want it to get worse. Do you think it will eventually go away or should i go to the doctors asap so it don't hurt the baby? im just worried it could harm my baby? thanks.
Can i get my nose pierced while pregnant?
I have had my nose pierced before, and I want to get it redone. I am 23 weeks pregnant and there is a professional, sterile place that has agreed to do it for me as long as I make sure it's safe and won't cause harm to my baby boy. I am very good with needles and piercings and I don't faint or anything like that when it comes to piercings. Anyone who PROFESSIONALLY KNOWS, or has experience in this department, can you give me a SURE answer? Is it safe for my baby?
Infected belly button piercing while pregnant?
I'm 18 weeks pregnant and my belly button ring has always been a little iritated because i got it done and a week later I found out i was pregnant... well I had a girl at the tattoo shop i've been going to for all my tattoos and piercings change it to one of the bendy pregnancy belly button rings and i've been cleaning it with the H2ocean spray which is supposed to be really good, but earlier i noticed there was like a big scab on it. and me being a picker i picked it off and it started oozing green slime... i know that's a little gross... so I cleaned it with antibacterial hand soap and sprayed the H2Ocean on it and it still hurt a little and was still oozing and then about 3 hours later I looked at it and it had been bleeding... What do I do? I don't want the infection to spread to my baby.
