Are hose clamps necessary when putting together poly pipe?
Ok first of all, you don't use glue or primer on Poly Pipe (the other answers are wrong). Glue and primer are for PVC pipe only. Using clamps is a good idea, it adds security, prevents leaking, and stops debris from getting into your sprinkler line. However, if you are talking about a drip irrigation system, you could probably get away with not using clamps simply because the pressure on a drip system is so much lower.
