Planning A Transfer To Uf In The Future Need Advice

Planning a transfer to UF in the future, need advice?

A student needs 60 credit hours to apply to transfer to UF. I'm debating earning those credit hours at FAU or UCF. Right now I should have 9 or 12 credit hours from high school that should be accepted no matter where I go. I was planning on doing summer school for 9 credits, earning 36 credits during fall and spring, and getting some credits through online courses during next year and transferring into UF by Summer or Fall 2014.

But I didn't apply to FAU in time to apply for Summer. I might want to go there to save money, but would not being able to start school this summer prevent me from being able to go to UF next summer or fall? Also, I heard that the Fall term is harder to get into, so if that is true I would probably want to apply for summer or spring. I'd take the fall off, but my problem with that is that if I didn't get accepted as a transfer student in the spring, I don't know what I'd do.

Also I've heard that it is easier to get into UF with an AA degree. Is that the same thing as earning 60 credits?

Would going to FAU starting in the Fall prevent me from applying to UF's summer term next year?

Would applying for Fall hurt my chances of acceptance?

I'm not sure about my major yet, but I know it is nearly impossible to transfer in if you plan on doing a biology major or any advanced science major... how difficult is it to transfer into UF's other departments?

Can I take online classes during the Summer before I start school in the Fall if I go to FAU and will those online classes count as credits when I apply to transfer to UF?

Transferring from UCF to Santa Fe to UF?!?

Am I crazy? Right now, I am about to start my second year at UCF. However, UF has always been a dream school of mine and I believe that that may be a partial reason as to why I am not doing my greatest at UCF. Should I transfer to Santa Fe to achieve my AA? I know that it is usually easier to transfer from a community college.

If it helps, I am almost about to get my AA, maybe about 3 more classes. HELP? What should I do?

Do I have a chance of getting into UF as a transfer student after one year at UCF?

Okay in order to transfer from UCF into UF you *ABSOLUTELY MUST* have 60 transferable credits. Not just 60 credits, only transferable credits will do. You must have 2 consecutive years in a foreign language to satisfy the foreign language requirement, and you must satisfy the CLAST requirement. You have to also have all the prerequisites for the major and college you intend to apply for.

If you have all those requirements and get a 3.75 or high GPA I would say you have a good chance in getting into UF, but I think you need to work on your GPA to get into Med school. I'm also working on going into Med school and few people realize that less than 50% of all applicants get accepted to any med school they apply to. Also study for your MCATS after you have taken the prerequisite courses.

How difficult is it to transfer from Santa Fe to UF?

I'm currently in highschool but I don't think I can get into UF. If I go to Santa Fe and attemt to transfer how diffucult is it to be accepted? What would improve my chances of being accepted?

I am planning to start construction of my house in Bangalore. What type of permissions are needed to be taken from the Govt before starting the work?

Building a house in Bangalore can make you run around the Govt and Municipal Offices forever if you dont know the right process. In my opinion, most of the people either hire an Agent for getting permissions work done or they let contractor manage this work. However it is good to know the time, money and effort involved in the process so that you can always ensure the agent/contractor is doing the right work.Firstly, you need to know the Khata of your plot. If it is an A khata Plot, permissions are mandatory. If it is a B khata plot (in a B Khata Area in Bangalore), you dont need permissions to start the work. If your plot lies in the in the Panchayat Khata, you need to get approval from BMRDA/Town Planning authority which is usually very simple and less painstaking. For an A Khata plot, you need Approvals from BDA,BESCOM and BWSSB, with each one charging its own fee for approving your Plans, Electrical connection and Water Supply connection respectively. The overall cost of permissions (including “consultancy chanrges” and govt fees) vary according to the location of your house and area of plot, but for practical purpose you can assume the a 30x40 site will cost 1–2 Lakhs for all the permissions.PaperToStone is India’s largest marketplace for construction related services. What advice would you give to a Computer Science major student that you wish you were given when you started learning Computer Science?

Never rely on your education only. Classes are can sometimes be too bland or too theoretical. A lot of CS programs don't even teach what you will do working in the industry.Take Math and problem solving seriously. You use the same skills in programming every day.Focus on the big picture generally - learn the big concepts of computer science, don't get caught up in language specific details.Polish your communication skills. Never excuse yourself to not be social and outgoing because you are a 'computer science nerd'.Work on a balanced healthy lifestyle in eating and exercising. Do not give the excuse again of 'I'm a computer science nerd'.Work on side projects/other interests. The best programmers don't only program. They learn about other topics they are interested in. Programming/Computer science is only a tool like writing or speaking; it must be applied to some area. Forget GPA. Keep above a 3.0 or 3.5 if you must. Work on programming Go to hackathons. Two points for this - socializing, networking, working on projects.Always try and apply for things you don't think you are qualified for. Do not skip out on the career fair, especially if you are a freshman. Be informed of programs like Google Engineering Practicum and Google Summer of Code.Talent is overrated as always. Think of the best programmer you know. A year of hard work can put you on their level.Start competitive programming as early as possible. Master one programming language for interviews.Concepts in computer science aren't mastered in one go. Repetition is important. Consider being a TA for a class. Patience is key to intuition.Have an online presence and blog.Work on hot area topics. Make some apps in data science, machine learning, computer vision, or map reduce just for experience.Work on a fast breadth-first search rather than a fast depth-first search. Do research. Then work for a big company. Then work for a startup. Then work on nonprofits/open source.
