Planning For Ms In Mechatronics In Germany . Help .

Question regarding mechatronics field?

I am doing a project in which a system previously controlled by PLC is now to be controlled by a software package installed in PC. I have developed a program for it. and connected the system and PC using a cable(crossover cable -162197). But there are no status signals shown in the LEDs. and the machine is not getting driven. Can someone help me out by providing a solution for this?!

Is mechatronic engineering is better or chemical engineering?

if i were you, id choose mechatronic engineering. I studied chemical engineering for three years and i was really unhappy. Then I transfered to mechanical engineering, and im really happy with it, it's one of the best decisions i've made.

Mechatronic Engineering consists of the study of mechanisms and the application of electronics to control them. You are going to take subjects like programing, technical drawing, thermodynamics, mechanisms, static and dynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, electromechanics, electronics, metallurgy. It's a really cool career choice, and there's a lot of job opportunies. You'll get to design machines, robots, cooling systems for those.

Chemical Engineering consists on the design of industrial chemical processes. Your subjects will consist of several chemistries(analythical, organic, physical chemistry), heat transfer, fluid and mass transfer, reaction kinetics. In a nutshell, what you're gonna do is just decide which boilers you're gonna use, which pumps, which reactors(tank where the reaction is going to take place), and which devices you're gonna use in your process. It is better if you like to sit on a desk and just do calculations.

Mechatronic eng, and mechanical engineering in general is more of a hands on career, you'll actually get your hands dirty and greasy, you'll be able to be on the workshop building whatever you need to build. you'll also have to do the calculations for your new device of machine, dimensions, materials, mechanical resistance, forces. My mechanisms teacher is the director of the mechatronics lab in my university (Universidad de Costa Rica), and he explained what is was about.

So from my point of view, mechatronic engineering is better than chemical engineering.
