Planning On Dying My Hair

Should I use a toner? I am planning on dying my hair silver with a permanent box dye after bleaching it as pale as I can go, starting at dark brown. Even when I get it to the palest of yellows, do I use a toner before dying?

I would not recommend you try this yourself. It’s way too drastic of a change. Your hair will likely dissolve if you use oxidative dye after bleaching. Go to a salon and they can do it, or just bleach then skip the box and go straight to direct dye. Arctic fox makes a colour called sterling silver that is nice and would work.

My hair is black and I'm planning to dye it?

well yeah.
any dye is gonna damage your hair.

however, depending on the color you want, you may need to bleach. There are some dyes with a bleaching agent in it and they're aimed at dark hair specifically. Garnier Fructis has a small line of 'em, but they're mainly browns, and brownish-red colors. While it does work, it's not super vibrant. It's best when viewed in the sunlight.

I dyed my hair red, but it wasn’t red enough. I am planning on dying it again today. Is that okay?

You definitely want to use something that DOES NOT have lift aka bleach in it. This means a semi-permanent, one that doesn’t require you to mix 2 different solutions that you then apply to your hair.I would recommend you check out Sebastian’s Cellophane hair dyes. My mom’s been using it for over 20 years and this product has stood the test of time. They have some exciting shades of red that still would fall under the umbrella of “mainstream”. If you’re looking for a brighter red, may I then suggest you check out special effects brand, or la Richie directions brand. They have great shades with wonderful staying power.

I am planning to dye my hair purple after bleaching it. Should I use a toner?

*sigh*This trend of using bleach and toner for any and every color of hair dye is sad.No, you don’t need toner. Toner is not a magic fix or cure all for a poor bleach job.Add in that most toners have a purple base to counteract the yellow in hair after bleaching, and you are simply using products you don’t need if you are also dyeing it purple. Or if you use a toning bleach that has a violet base, yes, such exists. And depending on the shade of purple and brand, you may not even need to bleach a lot(or at all).If you are planning this, make sure you get the right products. The right developer, the right bleach, the right dye. The quality and type of product matter.

My hair is a mousy brown colour. I am planning to dye my hair a dark green. Am I able to dye my hair without bleaching it?

It’s going to depend on several factors:How light is your current hair color? Is your hair currently “virgin”(untreated) or has it been chemically processed previously? How well does your hair handle processing? What is your hair’s current condition and texture? What type and brand of dye is used? How that dye is processed. All of those will determine if you can achieve the results you want without having to bleach the hair first. Trying a test strand first may be a good option to see if it will work with your particular hair. After care will also be important. Avoiding hot water and heat styling, avoiding styling products that contain alcohol, avoiding shampoos with sulfates will all help prolong the color.

I'm planning to dye my hair a light brown/ golden brown color but I don't know what to do with my eyebrows?

My hair is naturally an ash blonde color and my eyebrows are about a shade darker than my hair, I'm not sure what color you would call them. I'm worried the color I'm dying my hair won't match my eyebrow color, so I was wondering if I should get them tinted or should I just keep them how they are?

Dying my hair for the first time?

I'm currently a natural blonde, and I love my hair don't get me wrong. But I'm inthralled with strawberry blonde hair and I'm planning on dying my hair that shade. I've found a hair dye that will achieve the color, and I won't have to bleach it or anything.

I have medium to thin hair already. Not strikingly thin, but like when I put it in two braIds the braids are pretty thin and not full.
My question is, if I dye my hair one time, w/o bleach, will it drastically thin out my hair? Some people say they already have thin-ish hair and after dying it it looks like they've had kemo. And I want to avoid that at all costs.

So will my hair become super thin? Is it okay as long as if I don't keep dying it over and over? Is there products that work at prevent the thinning of hair after dying it? Am I freaking out over nothing?

I’m planning to strip old hair dye, bleach my roots, and add new hair color. Do you apply hair mask before or after dying your hair?

There are a lot of steps which were not included!Let me include an example:Use color remover mixed with 10 volume and hot water to the mids and ends for 10 minutes to strip out previous color leaving it off the roots.Shampoo the hair to remove the products, reset the PH of the hair and THEN possibly use a mask to seal the hair cuticle (depends on porosity.Rinse out mask with cool water so it leaves a residue to protect overly porous hair.Check manufacture recommendations which is typically to Lighten the roots with 20 vol and a lightener mixed at 1:1.5 ratio or 1:2 ratio to developer, depending on the brand. Process for _____ amount of time depending on how long the application takes. Also application will vary depending on amount of regrowth. If the roots are a different tone then the hair that’s been stripped what’s the game plan after? What level and underlying tones are the roots, mids, and ends? How will you apply the color to balance overall final tone. This is an example and the way I approach hair color. Anything that requires more than 2 processes is a color correction according to me.Please be safe and research each step and process also what I’m sharing is only an example and not recommended that you try it exactly because it’s impossible to know ratios, applications, and formulas without seeing your current hair. Also read all warnings and apply patch tests, some color removers can cause blindness if they come in contact with your eyes and have a sulfur base. They often cause my lungs, nose, eyes to burn just from stirring or opening the bag. There is still so much more to be considered!
