Poems About Depression Self Harm E.c.t

Other ways to cope with depression besides cutting yourself?

My sister used to cut herself and my Dad used to suggest she cut his arms instead! That really upset me!

Anyway, she now walks around with massive scarring on both her forearms and people do look at her, who knows what goes through their minds?

If you are carrying toxic thoughts and crap feelings around with you, get them out of your system by writing them down... you could even be creative and try and rhyme (I did that for years when I was an alcoholic and I have some amazing poetry/ songs - something to look back on and see how far Ive come!)

Is there someone that you can talk to? If not, keep a diary, and same thing - write it down and get it out.....

Lastly, think positive thoughts..... when that is hard, find one thing, something ie. what a beautiful day or 'I have a beatutiful smile' and focus on it.... And remember: you are loved by others no matter what you think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do I cure my severe depression for 6 years? I am 22 and undergoing treatment. How can I make self-efforts? I don’t want to waste my life. I have become highly negative in my thoughts. It was diagnosed 6 months ago.

Hi. Depression basically happens when our thought and emotion start working against us. I would say every third individual on the street will be given a diagnosis of depression if he went to a psychiatrist. The fact is emotions are generated from within and should be dealt from within. Dependency of people, situations is not a good way of handling our emotions. The best and permanent way out from such cases is yogic and spiritual knowledge/tools which destroys our identification with the mind and body. That is a vast topic so i wont go there. You can try the following to handle your emotions:JOIN A SPORT: Every emotion is just a chemical. Outdoor sports will give you a boost of feel good chemical called endorphins. Make some sport an important part of your routine.WATCH YOU DIET: Ever heard of gut feelings? Thats because what we put into our gut impacts our emotional pattern. Stick to soil grown simple diet and stay away from spicy, packagaed and junk food.AVOID INACTIVITY: Idle mind is a devils workshop. Instead of sitting idle or adopting negative habits like excessive television, internet etc, find your passion and develop skills relevant to it. Set goal for yourself and daily take steps to move closer to your inner calling.YOGA/MEDITATION: Yoga asanas is an attempt to calm our mind by doing certain yoga postures. Flexible body means a flexible mind. Yoga will prepare your mind for meditation.BREATHWORK: Our thought and breath pattern are linked. Also, due to excessive mental activity, we lose a lot of life force resulting in negativity. Practice deep breathing exercise twice a day, 15 minutes each time. Repeat once in morning and once in evening.Excessive negative thinking is a result of habit. Hence, even controlled positive thought pattern will also come out of practice and habit. You can do it. How long does depression last for teens?

well. I just can say it depends.when I was depressed other shitty things happened in my life. everything was messy.according to the fact that i’m an emotional person and a little meticulous , so it took me a long time: about 3 years.but some friends just suffered for a year. some are depressed for more than 5 years!but let me say one thing. it doesn’t matter how hard it is. who you are and what are environment factors, the time that takes to heal depends on YOU!you are the only one that can help yourself to get better. feel better and get free of depression.I know it sounds cruel. but this is the way to grow up. you have to make good habits and good outlook on life.you have to stay away from depressing stuff. like tv showes, movies, musics, textes and poems and ect.I know these sad stuff feel good! I know they are relaxing. but once you get tired of the bad things caused by depression, you will let it go.hope you the bests!

I'm so depressed, I can't take it anymore?

Hi,
I’m sorry to hear you’re struggling.
I think you should check out this website called http://www.recoveryourlife.com/forum/
It’s a very understanding and supportive website that deals with many problems including self-harm, depression, eating disorders (including overeating), addictions (such as drug and alcohol) anxiety (&& panic attacks, including anxiety disorders like OCD), suicide attempts, feelings and thoughts, bullying and abuse (including sexual and emotional abuse), trauma, and general mental health problems such as personality disorders, bipolar disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, ect.

You can post about your problems and gain advice and support, it’s full of caring people who are going through the same things as you are in a complete non-judgemental atmosphere, you feel a lot less alone and you don’t get stupid answers or the old ’snap out of it’, ’stop being stupid’ comments you get on Yahoo Answers.

The website also contains lots of information, how to get help, articles to read, fun and distractions, chat (like msn with others who are suffering), Live Help (one-2-one counselling - these people are not trained counsellors, but people who are normal members of the site but go that little bit further to help others), Supporters who can e-mail anytime, day or night to gain emotional support (again not trained professionals).

The site is free, but to in order to have access to everything available on the website you have to sign up, which only takes a few minutes. You don’t have to be a certain age to join (even if you’re 40, you can still sign up, they have a ’veterans corner’ for older members, including advice on topics more relevant to adult life such as university, long term relationships, child-care and employment) The site is open 24/7, all year round.

So please have a look, I think it could really help you - especially if you can’t talk to anyone in ‘real life’ or have no one to turn to.

Hope you feel better soon.
