Is a person likely to die if they are shot point blank with a rubber bullet?

Not likely, but it's possible.   Rubber bullets, bean bag rounds and tasers are part of what are  known as "less lethal" weapons that are often used for crowd control.  A rubber bullet in the wrong place -- an eye, ear canal, the throat -- could certainly cause an injury that could lead to death.  In a study of 90 people struck by rubber bullets, one died, 17 suffered permanent disabilities, and 41 required hospital treatment. And not all rubber bullets are created equal.  The ones at top are fired from a teargas gun. Other are fired from shotguns or handguns. The Israelis have used rubber-coated steel shot on Palestinian protesters, and the British used a 37 mm "rubber bullet" the size of a cannon round to quell protests in Northern Ireland. Such rounds can penetrate the skin or break bone.Groups of doctors have urged the banning of rubber bullets for crowd control but they are still widely used around the world.  Part of the problem is that they are often used improperly.  They're not supposed to be fired at the head; many are supposed to used only against the legs, or bounced off the ground into the legs of protesters. Most of the serious injuries that have occurred have been from impacts in the head or torso. There are ethical issues with using rubber bullets as well.  Many western countries do not allow their security forces to use deadly force unless  there is a real and imminent threat to the officers' lives.  But rubber bullets aren't supposed to be lethal, and they use them in all sorts of situations where "lethal" force could not be used.This type of ammo is almost always used against protestors -- often peaceful protestors, where there is no credible threat to life.  The illusion is that they're really not terribly harmful. What is the meaning of "point blank range" when discussing firearms?

Point blank is an artillery term, used when the gun is at 0 elevation. You don't usually shoot targets in this position unless they are right on top of you. If you are firing "point blank" you are in a world of hurt and your position is about to be over-run. It's also called "firing over iron sights", that is firing without really aiming because the target is so close that aiming is no longer necessary. Again, if you are firing at point blank you probably need to make sure you carbine is loaded and that your underwear isn't.

If you want to aim really well, Dodge, and time items, play the first 3 quakes. You will learn relatively fast how to use real, serious, skills when it comes to raw gamming.The problem is that those skills don't translate to today's FPS's. They are all designed to punish quick aiming, prevent movement as an advantage, and limit the actual variety of aiming skills that you might use.For example, a pixel sized railshot at full speed is the gate to entry for quake competitive play. But military and team games make every single shot unimportant, and require players to stop moving.They also routinely use client side prediction that trusts what the client sees and simply accepts when your client hits even if you are lagged and they are actually 10 feet to the left. Quake requires aiming where someone is, not where the client told you they might be.So, being shot first actually has less meaning. Because the clients might both report hits or the person with lag was allowed to shoot you from a position out of cover when you actually are behind a wall.So real, raw skill is not something that actually matters.For an anecdote, I played Pixel Gun World for about 2 weekends. My aiming and movement got me to one of the higher matchmaking tiers. I tend to not miss with arched weapons, rockets, or headshots. So I could one or two shot everyone at the lower levels and blow away scores. Once I got to the upper tiers, most players dropped micro transaction cash to buy +100 health bonuses, rocket boots, rapid fire sniper rifles, and anti headshot powerups. I never fully understood the items or the advantages because, quake skills never die and simply hitting someone twice is not hard.I tended to take 2nd and 3rd still in every game. But the advantage of playing the upgrade game overrode any skill that a player might have. So I didn't bother to stick it out another weekend.I still occasionally jump on a team shooter, and flick shot point blank with shotguns, which is usually a one hit kill, but it's not fun. The games are so slow and the rpg elements make me want to gag.So I guess what I'm trying to say is, find the grindiest piece of crap with the most unfair items, and grief the crap out of people who still think skill plays a part in first person shooters. Don't forget to votespam to kick the best players while shouting the worst racial slurs you can muster. That's really all there is to the genre anymore.
