I recently read articles that made a strong case (IMHO) that anti-fa were protecting peaceful protesters from violence that would have caused injury, as well as treating injuries where they occurred. There were photos and video. The statements that were made is that this is part of what anti-fa has been doing all along but that media have not portrayed them this way and have been unfair and propagandist in their depiction.Since I have had personal experience with media interviewing me and showing said interwiew edited in a way completely at odds with my statements, and since I have seen the biased reporting and lack of coverage of BLM marches and other peaceful actions that are actively supressed (eg DAPL after Trump’s election), I know this kind of media bias exists.But is this true?? I stay away from night marches and the ones that will most likely be violent. As a disabled person, I cannot face possible injury or arrest. What fuel the separatist movements in different Canadian provinces (beside Quebec)?
I'll state the obvious first, these separatists aren't as large or influential as they have been in Quebec. No Separatist Parties elected in Federal or Provincial elections, no referendums to separate, etc. Western Alienation is the main cause, and likely similar in the East. That Central Canada (Ontario and Quebec) run the country and ignore the concerns of the smaller populations. This is in politics, media, business, etc. etc. It is sometime seen as Ontario making all the decisions but preoccupied at making sure Quebec is happy while ignoring the rest of the provinces. This tends to be biggest in Alberta, who Canada will take taxes from oil revenues and want to tell Alberta how to do things. I'm from BC and can give you 2 examples. 1) In a Federal Election for decades on election day I may not have even voted yet, and the next Prime Minister has already been elected as the polls in Ontario and Quebec closed hours ago and they have already counted the votes and declared a winner. 2) I have lived and visited many Fishing Communities around BC who always felt anger toward being dictated to by Fisheries and Oceans from Ottawa, where there isn't any Ocean and tended to make policy based on Atlantic Fishery that was completely different problems than the Pacific Fishery. Or say giving away Pacific Catch in trade agreements with the USA while taking something like Canadian Auto Parts for jobs in Ontario.
