I'm in highschool and have alopecia. I can't stop feeling depressed all the time. I don't know what to do

This year I've been a freshman in high school. My hair started falling out and now there are giant bald spots and barely any hair left. Complete strangers stare at me when I go out of the house. At school alot of people talk about me and act weird or mean towards me because I'm so ugly. Yesterday a girl was staring at me in the store really weird like she was disgusted and my dad asked me if I knew her. I'm on the swim team and once when I walked into the locker room everyone was talking about how ugly I was. When I was sitting on the floor in the library some guys I didn't even know pretended to fart on me and said I looked ugly. I only have one friend now because a group of shallow girls left without any reason. Everytime I look in the mirror I almost cry and I feel so worthless. I can't fall asleep because I can't stop thinking about it. My mom told me I'd have to deal with it because eventually I'll have no hair at all. What do I do? Please help me

How come most somali people have soft hair?

It's just part of our genetic makeup, which comes from our Bantu-Arab mixing lineage. But mind you, this is something that varies from Somali to Somali. Somalis are part of the Afro-Asiatic sub-grouping, meaning historically, we have strong Arab-Islamic (Asian) influence, and this resulted in the mixing of the 2.

Let me remind you that Afro-Asiatic peoples are not only in the East African region. The Hausa of Nigeria are Afro-Asiatic as well.

Please recognize that some of the pics posted are Somali girls with STRAIGHTENED hair! That mean they have blow dried it, flat ironed it or straightened it with a straighter.

Somalis, like all Africans, come in different shades and shapes. Please do not generalize. I know many non-Somalis that have soft hair and many Somalis that have tighter, kinkier curls.

Nothing is wrong with either, but never believe when a Somali tells you that they are not Black or African. It's all BS.

Have you lost a loved one to cancer, then been diagnosed with cancer yourself later on?

Yes. Both of my parents died of cancer. My father died of prostate cancer and my mother died a few years later of ovarian cancer. A few years later, I was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer, however, unlike my parents, I beat my cancer. I am a 6 year survivor now. My dad lived about 5 years after he was diagnosed, but, for those 5 years, he wasn’t getting better, he was slowly getting worse. My mom, on the other hand, lived less than 12 HOURS after she was diagnosed before she died.My dad’s cancer had already metastisized when it was found. He would always refuse to see a doctor, even when he was losing weight and not feeling right. It wasn’t until he couldn’t urinate that he finally said “I need to see a doctor,” and then it was only because he was in a LOT of pain. He had had the cancer for a few years…but he refused to see a doctor all those years. My mom was having pain, but, she also refused to see a doctor, even tho she was in pain. It was rather funny…because I had asthma. She always made sure to tell me how it was MY fault that I had asthma. If I was having an asthma attack and COULDN’T BREATHE she would actually accuse me of MALINGERING!!!! Hmm…you know what? I need to figure out how to bring it on so I can get out of things I don’t want to do…I haven’t been able to do that yet. Meanwhile, both of them smoked. Even tho she knew I was asthmatic, she STILL refused to stop smoking in the house…and even let others smoke in the house…all while KNOWING that it would irritate my asthma. However, with my dad, no…it wasn’t his fault that he had cancer, nor was it his fault that his cancer had metastasized. Sometimes, I wonder why she didn’t blame ME for that, too.I was having daily asthma attacks…but she didn’t care. After she died, I said the house is now a “no smoking area. If you want to smoke, go outside and do it.” It is really strange how my asthma has cleared up since she died. I have my inhaler still, but, the medicine usually expires long before I actually use all of it. If it was my fault that I got asthma, then would it be fair to say that it was their fault for getting cancer, or at least for not having it taken care of?Anyway, I beat the cancer, which is more than I can say about either of my parents. Of course, they would probably be telling me how it is all my fault that I had cancer.
