Ponytails For A Receding Hairline

Do bangs cause you to have a receding hairline?

If you got bangs and styled them side-swept, I heard they could cause your hairline to recede, but how? I understand pulling them back tight would and such, but how could just having them styled & there cause it to recede??

Ponytails for a receding hairline?

I'm 15 and the sides of my hairline are receding. I think it's genetic, because my mom has a receding hairline aswell.
Anyway, I really love wearing high tight ponytails but it makes my hairline look really obvious. Is there any way that I could wear a tight pony and somehow cover up the two 'bald spots' on the side of my head? Or is it possible to acctually fix my receding hairline?

Please note that I very rarely wear tight ponytails, so it's not the reason for my receding hairline.
Thanks in advance!

15 year old girl, hairline receding!?

Okay, so, I'm a fifteen year old girl with VERY VERY VERY VERY thick, fairly long (elbows to the small of the back, in different places) with an apparently receding hairline. Around the time I was thirteen, I started thinking about how wearing pony-tails and buns was probably pulling on my hair. I'm a worrier, so I tried to avoid doing it. Recently, my hair has gotten so long (and therefore so much mass) that a regular bun or ponytail is really too painful for me to wear - I usually wear my hair all the way down, or with the top half up, or in braids. Now, I may be nuerotic, but it appears to me like my hairline really is receding. I feel like my forehead is beginning to reach Christina Ricci proportions. I'm not comfortable posting a picture, but I can say that my mother (only 51) years old is beginning to bald on the top of her head - so would that make it possibly hereditary? Isn't 15 too young for this kind of crap!? What can I do, other than avoid pulling on it, to try and prevent or reverse this?!

15 year old girl with a receding hairline help!?

Yes, wearing it in tight ponytails/ hairbands, etc. can cause breakage, but if it looks like the picture you attached, I'm not sure that is what it is. Stress can cause alopecia in some people, but that is usually a death of a loved one, etc. Some people just have a higher or receded hairline naturally, just the same as some have a very low on the forehead one...think Kirstie Alley. You could try Biotin, but talk to your doctor to make sure it is safe for you. Most tolerate it really well and it helps with hair growth and even nails, but you really need to let him know about the hair loss, IF it really is hair falling out all over your head. You also might go to a high end/ reputable salon and have them evaluate your hair.

Does putting your hair up to much cause receding hairline?

I used to wear my hair up quite often when I was younger. If you wear you hair in ponytails a lot, you may add stress to your hairline. The edges of your hair are weaker and more sensitive than the ones in the middle of head. That is why when you color your hair it may seem that the middle takes a little longer to dye than the edges. But anyway, I would suggest, stop pulling your hair so tight, or if you insist on wearing your hair up brush lightly or softer around your hairline. If you wear your hair up when you sleep, it can also pull at night while you toss and turn if it is too tight. Receding hairlines are mostly hereditary. Your hair should grow back in those areas with time and care.
