Professional Wrestling Would The People Mind

Why do people think pro wrestling is fake?

There’s a big difference between fake and staged (previously scripted). Although i understand that non-wrestling fans use the word fake as somewhat of a dismissal to everyone involved in the business, i don’t mind when i hear it or read it.I haven’t met a single wrestling fan who actually gets hurt or triggered by someone saying it’s fake (but maybe i know just a sample of a bigger universe). I myself engage in arguments like this and when someone responds with ‘it’s not real, it’s fake’ i already know i have won it, because it’s so poor offense by the non-fan.Wrestling fans take it as an insult when -and ONLY when- people try and diss the efforts put by the wrestlers to make it impactful or even worth watching.Watch AJ Styles’ latest drop in the Money in the Bank match. And people say: yeah, but a WWE ring is like a trampoline, it doesn’t hurt like an MMA or Boxing Ring.I have been in a lot of wrestling rings and in one from WWE and i can tell by my own experience that taking a single bump from a normal stature can hurt as hell. Yes, they’re trained professionals and know how to register in order to minimize the damage to their bodies, but that damage still exists.Go and watch the career span of a stunt man. They’re doing a ‘fake’ scene. Yet they can (and most of the time will) get hurt. One doesn’t discard the other. Now go and watch a wrestling match. It doesn’t matter if is from WWE, NJPW or the most obscure wrestling promotion in Bangladesh, they HAVE to train in order to register even before they start with the wrestling part.So in terms of being ‘fake’, it’s not more fake than your average TV show. But the dangers are still very real (i should know, i took a concussion while training just because i hit the canvas the wrong way).

Did people ever used to bet on pro wrestling?

People still bet on pro-wrestling. They know the outcome is fixed, but they don't know what the outcome is, so they bet on the matches anyway.WrestleMania 31 Betting Odds: Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, John Cena Among Favorites At 2015 WWE PPVYou might be wondering why people still bet on a pre-determined outcome. It's because there's still the element of unpredictability. Sometimes, a last minute decision or accident might prevent the match from ending the way it should. At worst, the WWE will pull a swerve for the sake of being creative or unconventional. So, while the build to a big match may indicate who's going to win, it still doesn't imply that said superstar will win the match. Here's a few examples :The Undertaker was the biggest favourite at WrestleMania 30, but he lost to Lesnar in what might have been the most shocking moment in WWE history. The outcome was decided by Vince McMahon less than 4 hours before the match started. This year, a majority people expected Sting to defeat HHH but HHH won the match after several interferences. The match was designed to pay tribute to the chaotic booking nature of WCW in the late '90s. As a result, what was supposed to a predictable match became more entertaining (not in terms of wrestling) and the outcome was not expected.Like User-10136444046295161514 mentioned about Seth Rollins, outcomes can be changed on the fly and people may not even consider the occurrence of that outcome when placing their bets.

What are some professional wrestling finishing moves that can be used in real life by untrained human beings for self-defense?

Provided that you can get an advantage over the opponent, like getting behind them or knocking them down, here is a list:The Sleeper HoldYou have seen Dolph Ziggler do it right? Well, that can be useful, but not the way said wrestler does itGet behind the opponent (duh)Wrap you good arm around their throat and under their chin and grab your other armPlace your other palm on the back of their skullWith your wrapped arm, apply pressure to the enemy's throat and push their head to said arm for even more pressureIf done correctly, you will have cut blood flow to the enemy's brain and they will be knocked out cold in about 5 secsKeep in mind that it can cause serious damage and should not be done unless needed. It may even cause death2) SharpshooterNot much to explain. You do it exactly how they do it pro wrestling. Only this time, it will be very hard to turn the enemy over if they don't cooperate. Also, instead of squating (which is what they do and causes minor disturbance) sit in their butt. Be careful if you're doing it with friends as sitting on them will cause damage to their back3) German SuplexSimply grab your opponent from their waist, lift them up and slam them down behind you, just like in pro wrestling. Do keep in mind that it can cause lasting damage to the neck and even cause death if the enemy doesn't react accordingly4) SpinebusterIf you're doing this with a friend, it will require cooperation. Otherwise it will cause lasting damage to the opponent's back5) DDT/BrainbusterJust like in pro wrestling. If you the opponent on a good headlock and bring their head to the ground it can cause some good damage to the head, and even kill the victim. Don't worry about falling down with the Brainbuster. Your fall should be softened by the opponent's fall6) Super kickThis does require a little more effort than the rest, provided that it isn't very easy for everyone to kick someone else in the jaw. But if you do that, the enemy will experience a hell of a pain7) Dirty blowsYou know. Kicks in the nuts, eye poking etc etc

Did most people in the sixties see the fighting/wrestling in TV shows as unrealistic as we would today?

When you ask a lot of older people about professional wrestling, they will hearken back to their youth, mentioning their favorite wrestlers of times past like Classy Freddy BZlassie, Bruno Sammartino and Gorgeous George (Most of the older folk I speak to talk glowingly of Bobo Brazil and Rocky Johnson). but a phrase you often hear is “that’s when wrestling was REAL.”of course, pro wrestling back then was every bit as scripted and choreographed as it is now. The big difference is that back then the curtain was never pulled back, so there were more fans that bought into the events as actual sporting events. also keep in mind that Pro wrestling on TV was a novelty. the best way to experience an event was to actually attend one live, and the atmosphere at live events was oftentimes similar to a prizefight. So you’re buying into the hype and spectacle of the event, and not paying attention to the fact that these guys that just beat the crap out of each other in a steel cage just had that same match a few days before in the next city over.and also take into account that the older folks always look back on their era with rose-tinted glasses, so the stuff they grew up on will always be better than the similar product of today in their minds.

Is Public perception of pro wrestling still an issue?

I have been a "union man" for 33 years, and I have seen some of my union brothers get fired for fighting. But every one of those who were fired were fired for instigating the fight. Those acting in self-defense were not disciplined in any way.

I'm having a hard time believing some of the stuff this guy wrote, specifically the actions and demeanor of the Arbiter. Arbiters are generally lawyers and judges who are paid to arbitrate disputes. They are professional and unbiased. They can't risk being labeled as this guy describes the Arbiter in his case, or they would lose that job, and might be subjected to prosecution themselves.

To be honest, I think Mr. Olsen instigated the fight himself, and is fabricating some pre-conceived notions on the part of the Arbiter to explain the ruling against him. I have no doubt there was a fellow worker "testing him" (every work place has guys like that), but I think Mr. Olsen made it physical himself, to shut the guy up.

That said, I think the average person (those who aren't wrestling fans) see pro wrestling as something like a play, or more likely, something vaudevillian (and not taken seriously). And they see pro wrestlers as "actors", entertainers who pretend to fight for a living.

In previous generations, when kayfabe was fiercely protected by the wrestlers, average people did see them as "tough guys" you don't mess with. But now that everybody knows the fights aren't real, that perception has gone away. Pro wrestlers are just athletic "actors" in the average person's eyes. Their level of fame determines how much attention they get from average people. If they do their jobs and don't try to use their "fame" to get special attention or privileges, or to try to bully others, then they will be accepted as a "regular" guy.

Wrestling: Why do people hate Michael Cole so much?

No he is not like JR, nor am I comparing to him, but he is not that bad of a commentator. I actually don't mind him being a commentator. Yes he talks about the WWE app and the WWE Network mainly because he is SUPPOSE to do that. It's his job to constantly mention everything WWE does. Don't get me wrong, JR is the best commentator ever in WWE, but I wish people can stop bashing Michael Cole for doing his job.

Wrestling Section: Things Have Gone Too Far -- Lord Of Darkness?

Oh my god Andrew, you are freaking awesome. Writing that whole thing, getting peoples facts straight, I agree with you, and everything you say. I've had my experience with trolling as some of you know, and I was stupid joining the nWo. Let me just say this, if you are going to troll, atleast troll well, because if you suck, you are pretty much just a waste of time.

People need to stop, if people want to answer questions, let them answer questions. If they need to ask questions and be nice, you just ruin it for EVERY user here. This thing has got to stop, or else trolls will be all over this freaking section, and there will be no one to troll pretty much. I don't care though. I DON'T CARE how many trolls there are, I am staying and setting their asses straight. Trolling is absolutely stupid, and pretty much the worst thing that has ever happened.

nWo, EHE, Wolfpac, nWCo, you all need to stop, because you are just going to get suspended anyways. When you troll, you end up just screwing yourself over, and when you get suspended, you finally want to be a great user, well guess what, it is too late.

Here is what we have to do:

1. Ignore them like you said Andrew
2. STOP making questions about them, it only makes their trolling worse.
3. Whatever you do, don't troll. It will make this worse.
4. Make Yahoo Answers fun again..
