Public Relations Degree With Dwi Conviction

Are all citizens of the U.S treated fairly in our courts of law?

Nope. Just look at celebrities and politicians for blatant proof of that. Connections=unquestioned innocence. Current source of reference: Lindsay Lohan. I'm dead-f*cking-serious. Those groups get away with so many heavy crimes that it's insulting to the general public! >:I

Those other things matter some. Sexuality is kinda hard since it's not something that you can necessarily tell. Same with religion. If you're connected to a radical religious movement and your crime is linked to that then of course religion is going to come into play, but otherwise religion isn't going to really come up unless you bring it up. Race can matter somewhat, especially if you don't speak english in an english-speaking nation. I think it irritates the judges and prosecutors more than anything else. They've got enough on their schedule without having to spend the extra time translating your native language because you haven't learned english for some inexplicable reason.

The big one I think is appearance. If you're going to court you should dress to reflect the fact that it is a serious matter. If you're going just to pay a fine for a parking ticket that's one thing, but if you're going for DUI or assault or even a speeding ticket, don't arrive like you just rolled out of bed or like you just came from a gang meeting. It's a matter of respect and as I said it displays that you understand this is a serious situation and you're not just brushing it off. Wear some slacks and at least a polo shirt and shoes that aren't beat to hell. You can get an decent outfit for court at Good Will for maybe $30, so don't b*tch about not having anything to wear. Shower, comb your hair, don't be hungover, etc.

None of those are really what I would consider "unfair" though. The "unfair" stuff comes in with connections. If you have them you'll get out of things, if you don't you're going to face a harder road. In that way the courts end up being unfair to the majority of people that they deal with. We're not held to a higher standard, but we do have to take responsibility where people higher up the food chain can weasel out of consequences time and time again. Like I said, just look into hollywood and capital hill and you'll be able to find enough to write a book series on how the court system is flawed and skewed. Then again our whole political system is broken at this point, so no surprise! :P

If something was expunged can I say "NO" on an application to being "arrested, summoned, charged, etc?"?

It the company is performing an 'extensive' background check - then they are likely to discover the expunged offense.

In order to get around expungements and other tactics people use to conceal past offenses - many of the larger companies that perform background checks maintain their own databases that they compile from court records. This way if it is expunged from the court records - they still have their copy.

Another thing to remember is that any federal records check will see all expunged records.

Is it a bad idea to start a relationship with a felon?

Why do people always ask advice about situations like this, as if they should be allowed to keep their eyes and ears closed, and just follow the advice blindly?Could he be a lying and manipulative individual who always has criminal intent on his mind?  Absolutely.  Does the fact that he was a felon have ANYTHING to do with it?  Nope.  In fact, I know more people who *should* have gone to jail but have managed to stay out, that are far worse than some people I know who went to jail and did their time.He was convicted of a drug felony.  Ok.  What exactly does that mean?  Did he go out to buy an ounce or two of grass, and got busted in the wrong sting?  Was he selling meth to school kids?  Was he a mule and transporting several kilos of cocaine across international borders?  Was he a dealer living in a pimped out apartment selling whatever drugs people wanted?  Do you even realize that in the different examples I just gave you, the guilty person would be radically different from the next?  The person who sells meth to school kids is very different from the person who went to jail because he was driving from one state to another with a two ounce head bag.  Yet, both would be convicted of a drug felony. Are you the kind of person who would treat both of those people (the guy selling meth to schoolkids, and the guy driving with two ounces of grass) as if they were the same exact kind of person, just because both had been charged with drug felonies? So here is the situation as you present it.  You want to know if you can trust a guy who 6 years ago was convicted and jailed over an unspecified drug charge, who has gone through rehab, going back to school and getting his life on track, and apparently has stayed out of trouble since he has gotten out.Everything you have said speaks to why you should be trusting him.  Nothing you have said supports your suspicion. He did his time, and he paid his debt.  He is working hard to put that behind him... and you can't see past it.  You are the wrong woman for him.  He deserves someone who can see the past he is actively leaving behind.  Your asking this question shows that you can't see past the past he is leaving behind.  You are stuck on it.  Either you need to become a better person, someone worthy of the second chance he has earned, or you need to find someone with a past you can live with.

What are some slang terms used among police officers?

The most derogatory terms for the bad guys and citizens who are just pains in the rectum:A.H. = Adam Henry (A-dam H-enry) If you don’t get it…..sometimes you will hear it as “Jack Hole”…..now what starts with an “A” that ends with HOLE ?RICHARD CRANIUM= What starts with a “D” and is a nickname for Richard ? What is the non-medical layman’s term for the Cranium ? Do these clues HEAD you in the right direction ?

Canada immigration background check.?

I recently was just offered an amazing dream job in Vancouver B.C. Based on what I have read on Canada's immigration policies, it requires a clean criminal record. 6 years ago I got in trouble for forgery, and is now a misdemeanor. I also had a DUI 4 years ago. Is my work permit/visa going to be denied? I assume so, but I've kept out of trouble since, I'm a professional and have great references and a good employer to sponsor me. Should I be worried?

What does It mean when A background check ask for a disposition?

What does It mean when A background check ask for a dispoosition?
Im going to get a background check done at the casino and I need to know what this means? I have had 1 dui and 1 dwi that I have to list. I got one when I was a minor 17 but am still going to list just in case. My question is when i have to list them it says..... Date of arrest- i know date Charge-I know charge date of disposition and disposition.... whats it mean

How do I tell my boss about my DUI arrest and court date? I work at a dealership as a detailer and half my job is driving vehicles from the lot to different repair shops around the city. Am I obligated to tell him?

I was a criminal public defender for 14 years, and I still represent clients for DUI’s. Your dilemma is quite common. Most of the time, my clients took a plea bargain offer. However, they were convicted and that conviction did get reported to the driving authorities. You need to let your boss know because you will be sentenced. It is a good idea to let the judge you have a job and to get a letter from your boss stating that you are a good worker, and that they are willing to work with you on your conditions for probation.Think of it this way, if you are convicted, the probation department will contact your employer. Would you rather have the probation officer inform your boss that you are convicted of DUI and you are driving his cars, and did not tell him? I would think you would be fired on the spot. You need to tell your boss of your situation. You will be surprised but more than likely, your boss has had other employees in the same situation.I do not know which state you live in. However, it is possible to get a restricted driver’s license to driver only during your course of employment. Clearly, you need to talk to a local attorney on this matter.
