Should i pull an all nighter on a school night...?

Yes, definitely keep on truckin all night. Youll feel way better and if you really really cant go on, bring a recorder or camera to class and videotape the lecture so you can hear it over after the nap after class. STARBUCKS with 2 extra expresso shots is my lifesaver if I ever get really tired. Its not really that healthy, but it WORKS. Just use it this time, and next time budget your time more wisely =]

You'll probably be OK, tired, but OK. Hopefully you aren't driving, and don't have any big tests, and you get to sleep on time the next night. You don't want to exhaust yourself during virus/flu season, you'll be much more likely to get sick!

Don't read or watch TV to try to get to sleep, that might have the opposite effect. Try a week of eating healthy, not eating close to bedtime, exercising but not too close to bedtime. Walking is great for stress, but if you can't walk, then do jumping jacks, etc at home. Do some stretching or yoga. Try to stay off electronic stuff, computer, iPhone, DSI, etc close to bedtime. Maybe read a little, and relax, at least for 10 - 15 minutes before getting into bed. Try to get yourself on a schedule and stick to it. Get 8 to 9 hours of sleep a night. I know that's hard if you're a teen in high school, but give it a try.

If you have an iPhone, you might try a white noise app, like SleepMachine or WhiteNoise. I really like the SleepMachine Beach 3 Lapping Waves. I thought there was no way it would work, I like quiet, but it really does, and I only set it for 15 minutes now and I'm out before it stops. Or maybe your alarm clock has white noise sounds.

Pulling an all-nighter on a school night?

I've totally stayed up on a school night. Pretty amazing thing.
Hahaha well I would Skype/ Oovoo (webcam) with a friend that is willing to stay up with you. *Encouragement.
& then I would drink lots of soda while watching a scary movie. We're talking some real pyscho stuff. (I prefer ghost becausee any psycho killer can waltz into your room & murder you but a ghost....don't get me started.) *Paranormal Activity 2 ;If you don't have that movie, FilmHill.com works.
Now, when your in class, doodle in your notebook. Talk to friends, get in trouble, laugh for no apparent reason. Things like that keep you up in class. Trust me (;

How to pull an all nighter on a school night?

Of my experience in years of all-nighters, the key factor is determination, hydration, and keeping your focus for long periods of time. For example, if I wanted to stay up all night to study for midterms (which i did) I would first take a nap as soon as i got home from school that day. If I wasn't tired, I'd take a bath or eat a nice meal, or tire myself out some other way (basically do something that makes you tired). After a nice 3 hour nap or so, I'd go and prepare all the stuff I'd need to study on. So, if I had a textbook for a class, I'd get it. Any notes that I don't remember the material on well, or any books around the house that might help, and of course if my internet's up, i'd make sure the computer is free for study purposes. However, people aren't study machines. Make sure to have a good 20 minute break every 3 or so hours. In that time, make sure you use the restroom, get snacks, and browse the internet for a bit (if internet's not up, play a flash game pre-installed on your computer or just chillax for a bit BUT NOT ON A SUPER COMFY SURFACE, it'll make you sleepy.) As for staying awake during the day, make sure to eat and drink something before you head off to school. There's usually a rush feeling i get during the day for at least a good 6 to 8 hours for me, although you may or may not.

Pulling an all nighter on a school night? (will pick best answer; need help..)?

Anyway it's 4:30am right now and I have to get ready for school at 6.
I have no idea why I haven't been able to fall asleep! I've been laying in my bed, in the dark, since like 12. I haven't checked my phone, been on my iPod, done anything at all in this whole time period. I've literally had my eyes closed the whole time and I still haven't been able to fall asleep..
I know I can't try to fall asleep now; just because I will not not not be able to wake up -- I have trouble waking up when I go to bed at 11 and have to wake up at 8, lol.
Is it possible for me to pull an all nighter and survive the school day...? I have to go to school... and it's not an option for me to go to sleep now..
Is there anything that would help me stay up and not feel like I'm about to fall over (caffeine is supposed to help for a little and then make you crash, so that's kind of not something I'm considering...)?
(I don't have any big tests or anything tomorrow..)

I would say so because you have to have enough sleep to function and be able to stay awake in class. You need to reschedule your studying so that you can get enough sleep. If you don't get enough sleep you'll learn the hard way about a bad decision you made. And you'll be tired enough that you will not want it to happen again.

Budget your time. Allot so many minutes for each page of makeup work and so much per class of study time for tests. Every hour or so get up, stretch, move around, do a little exercise. Drink plenty of water. Take at least a couple of 20 minute cat naps. I did better if I worked till about 1:30 at night and went to bed and got up at 5 to finish. Tomorrow morning take a full shower, smell peppermint, have a light protein breakfast and some good strong coffee. Tomorrow during the day eat light protein meals and drink lots of water and have a couple more cups of coffee. Take a couple quickie naps tomorrow if you can in between classes. Good luck!

How bad it is depends upon what you are doing during these all nighters? If you are referring to studying, cramming or writing papers, then the results won’t be too bad. However, if you are pulling all nighters and working in a sensitive setting, the results could be bad.Regardless, if you go 2 nights in a row without sleeping, all the while drinking lots of caffeine, you’ll likely experience the following:You will pee a lot, especially if you are not used to drinking a lot of coffee.You may get the shakes, coffee jitters, or tremors.You may end up with a rather sick stomach, again depending upon how much coffee you are used to drinking.Believe it or not, around 40 hours or so without sleep, you may begin to experience hallucinations.You are going to feel dog ass tired. But resist the urge to them sleep for 14 to 16 hours. You really cannot make up for lost sleep.Please DO NOT drive a car or operate machinery after going this long without sleep!

I’ve been in your boat before. In fact, I’m in your boat right now.My grades are the lowest they’ve ever been, and it’s been a huge cause of stress for me. I will log onto my school account and see the amount of zeroes I have in APUSH and Pre-Calculus and want to cry. I hide my grades from other people because the B’s I have glare at me every time I see them.But an all-nighter isn’t the solution.I’ve pulled one legitimate all-nighter before. I had a 20-page Marketing paper due by 3 the next day and guess what? I was only three pages in. And it was a research paper. Aided by a latte, a Redbull, and a Yerba Mate, I spent the entire afternoon, evening, and night working on this paper. At around 5:30 am, I got up from working to shower, ate breakfast, and then went to school. I was jittery all night and couldn’t sit still, the caffeine so intense I could barely focus on this paper. I was terribly grumpy the entire day. I turned my shitty paper in and on my way home from school, I cried while driving home. I didn’t do any homework that night, instead opting to sleep and think about my life decisions.It’s much better for your own health to pace yourself. Remind yourself that high school is only four years - no matter how well you do or don’t do, you’re going to survive. High school doesn’t determine how you’re going to live the rest of your life. It might decide what colleges you get into immediately following high school, but you can always go to community college for two years and re-apply as a transfer student. Bad grades aren’t the end of the world. Put things into perspective. Then, you’ll be in the right mindset to get your work done while not feeling suicidal.
