Puppy Wierd Behaviour

Strange dog behaviour after being spayed?

Thank you guys for the replies- as the person who works at the pound is so sick of receiving my phone calls (I've been bothering her all day) I decided to just call another vet to come examine her, but one of my neighbors talked me out of it, saying she's done this about 30 times and they always behave like this afterwards and they need some time to recover. Today the dog displayed outbursts of energy, chasing after and barking after some male dogs, she's been walking around, doesn't seem to be in pain anymore but still prefers to lie most of the time. She was wagging her tail and following me around a bit, as well as jumping over my dog being all happy to see him. So she definitely feels a bit more like herself, the biggest problem now remaining is that she refuses to eat or drink. I'm going to go outside right now and try to give her some food and water again, hopefully I can make her eat some.

What's with this really weird hummingbird behavior?

To you bird people...i live in pennsylvania, and i have a hummingbird feeder. And while hummingbirds that feed on it usually hover, every once in awhile they'll land on it for 20 or 30 seconds. Well, I noticed a couple weeks ago, one hummingbird when it lands, will do this thing where it sorta bobs its head from side to side...almost like someone listening to hip hop music might. I thought that particular hummingbird might just have some mental or physical problem, but then noticed the other day an entirely different hummingbird clearly doing the same thing. It's this slow rythmic bobbing of the head back and forth when perched, they may do it 10 or 15 seconds at a time. Both that did it were males.
Is this a mating attractant? Does it deal with sugarwater digestion? Is it already a known behavior to hummingbird experts? I doubt I've made some behavioral discovery, but if nobody on here is familar with this behavior, I just might have!

Has anyone seen or heard of this behavior?

When do golden retrievers start to calm down from puppy behaviour?

My golden retriever just turned 5 on June 8 and still acts as if he is a puppy and we just got him. He like running around in circles, jumps on our trampoline, and he does this weird think of getting really excited randomly and standing on his head on the couch. Sometimes his puppy behaviour gets annoying to be around. He is not neutered because we breed him. I was wondering if anyone knew when they normally start to calm down?

Is is weird behavior if my spayed female dog humps my legs?

It is natural for a canine to mount because to them it is to show the other canines that he/ she is dominant than the one below them. It happens on male-male, female-female and male-female (it does not mean they are mating at this point) The best solution to that is to show her that you are the boss because dogs who are dominant than their owner would not listen to the owner. Here is an exercise that I read in Doglopedia that would help you:

1. Stand over the dog and lift it front legs off the ground. keep it there for 30 sec. reward him verbally if remains quiet. repeat if struggles.

2. Put dog in submissive position for 30 sec. 1 hand over mouth and the other on the chest. praise if remains quiet, if struggle repeat.

3. Do obedience exercises (sit, heel etc.) for 5 mins. praise with treats if good.

4. do it once or twice a week for less dominant dogs. twice daily for really agressive- dominant

hope this helps=]

Why does my puppy run around like crazy?!?

I can assure you its normal puppy behaviour - you should see my staffy pup sometimes - Hypo is not the word .
Not weird at all - in fact any different behaviour would be ab normal. Most calm down with age -although some do seem to keep that pup mentality for life !!

Do i need to clean my puppy's incision after neutering?

My vet didnt say it he just tell me to check several times daily and see anything wrong,,also reduce his food/water input for first day, but should i clean the incision after neutering? If so use what and how many times daily?

How do dogs behave when they're in heat?

If you have a female dog in heat and do not want puppies, you must keep her kenneled, locked up with no escape possibility for a minimum of three weeks.  You will have to tolerate male dogs coming to your home and STAYING there for just as long.  Dog fights, attempts to get at your bitch, her attempts at getting out to be bred, the noise, the mess (pooping and peeing from the males), and general mayhem can be expected.  If you keep her in the house, she will have to wear a diaper to collect the bloody discharge, kept away from any doors because she will try to get out, she will have to be constantly escorted to potty and hope a male hasn't gotten in your yard.Female dogs are ,very affectionate, enjoying additional body contact.  Their vulvas swell and a bloody discharge will appear.  The heaviness of the flow depends on the individual.  A receptive female will elevate her hind quarters and flag her tail.  She will be easily distracted and very alert to any potential male in the area.  A female will urinate frequently and may even mark.  She also may go off her food.  A female is fertile for TWO-THREE weeks, at the least.  Confine them for three weeks minimum.  Better to be safe than be surprised.  I know the average is 18 days, but I have known too many dogs whose owners thought they were out of heat and were surprised with a litter of puppies.  The best thing to do is get your dog spayed before she goes into heat.  The health benefits to spaying before a first heat outweigh waiting until after the heat cycle.  There are not enough homes for the dogs we have, don't contribute to the pet overpopulation problem.Dog in Heat
