Purchasing A Computer And Hdd Good Enough For Gaming

Is a 500GB harddrive good enough for a gaming computer?

So im building a gaming computer and want to save as much money as I can. I just wanted to know if 500GB was enough storage for basic gaming (steam games, maybe some minecraft, and a little bit of internet surfing). Also I plan on putting Windows 7 home premium 32-bit and some other anti-virus stuff. Just wanted to know if its enough/ not enough, or if I could save some cash and buy a smaller one.

Is 2GB of RAM good enough for gaming?

If you have the option and can afford it, the 4GB option would be better. Typically the more RAM, the better speed and performance your computer will have. Nowadays adding extra RAM is usually not too expensive, so I'd say to go ahead and add the extra RAM.

However, a 2GB system could also perform quite well if you also have a good graphics card, a fast hard-drive as well as tweaking and adjusting various Windows settings that can help improve speed and performance as well.
For an idea of this, visit "Tweak My Computer" blog for many good suggestions: http://tweakmycomputer.blogspot.com/
Read though the older archived posts there as well for lots of good tips too.

Is this good computer for gaming?

Ok EVERY single person here has NO idea about computer hardware, and just see a $2000+ computer are are like "zomg its costs so much, its so awesome!"

cpu: dude, a game will NEVER use more then 4 threads.... meaning anything that is above a 4c/4t cpu is 100% useless... the i7-2600 is 4c/8t, so its pointless for gaming. The best gaming cpu there is, is the core i5-2500k. Getting above that solely for gaming, makes you an idiot....

ram: well its fine, but the i5-2500 is a socket 1155, and needs 1155 socket motherboards, and they only support dual channel. so you either need to get a 4gb or 8gb dual channel kit.

video card: is a little overkill lol... like you are better off getting a $300 card now, and buying a $300 card in like 3-5years, then buying a $700+ card now.... unless you are planning on doing like 3d nvidia surround at 5760x1080, that card will really be wasted. Hell a 6850 can max any game at 1080P and get over 30fps...

PSU: you didnt list but i know you probably way over killed it. even for the gx590, you probably dont need more then a 650W psu.

HDD: since your spending that much money, keep that 1tb drive, but get a 32-64gb SSD, and use it for your boot drive (install windows on it). Then with what ever space is left, install some games or w/e so they will load faster (does not affect fps).

OS: why? wtf? name ONE reason you are getting ultimate over home? id LOVE to hear it... just because the name says "ultimate" doesnt make it the most ultimate one, and its faster and harder to get viruses on or w/e you people fkin think of... pro/ultimate are for BUSINESS/JOB related ONLY!!!!!!!! a home user will see ZERO benefits in it...

Is a 2TB HDD enough for a gaming PC?

Seems to me you have very high budget. As a gamer who doesn't delete his games, buy a pair of 6TB and put them in RAID 0.You'll have to upgrade later on for more capacity.I have over 6TB in storage and it's still not enough. If you still have (lots of) cash left over and didn't buy a SSD, buy a 2TB 950Pro SSD from Samsung. It has blazing fast speeds. Your mobo should support NVMe SSDs though

Is an 800 GB SSD card good enough for a gaming PC?

An SSD has greater access speed than the traditional HDDs. When you are talking about high resource consumption processes like gaming, the increase in speed of each individual element of a pc adds up to the performance. Though the ram and graphics processor along with the main processor determines the performance of a game but if you use an SSD it’d affect the speed greatly.About the size: I’ve a HDD of 1TB with only two partitions. Until this date I’ve games installed which range from 1 GB to 40GB. Still I’ve a 100 GB space left. I guess if you are to buy an SSD, go for the 512 GB option. And you’d need to install the windows on that SSD itself to see the effect and the game too.So an 512GB SSD is more than enough for gaming.

Is this computer powerfull enough for game capture?

I planning on buying an Alien-ware X51 to capture and edit videos using the Elgato HD Capture card.
The specs of the X51 is;

PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ i3-2120 Processor (3.30GHz, 3MB L3 Cache, 2C)
OPERATING SYSTEM Windows® 7 Home Premium (64 BIT)
GRAPHICS CARD 1GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 640
MEMORY 6GB 1333MHz 1x4GB + 1x2GB) Dual Channel Memory
HARD DRIVE 1TB Serial ATA (7,200 rpm)
SOUND CARD Internal High-Definition 7.1 Performance Audio
WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY Integrated 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi Wireless LAN

I just need to know that this computer is powerful enough to capture Xbox game play and if I can plug it in to a HDMI TV with a HDMI cable.

Thanks Guys.

Dell Inspiron 660 good enough for gaming? Specs are in the post.?

Is the Dell 660 good enough for gaming? These are the games I want to play on the new PC I am going to buy:
- DayZ
- Minecraft
- Battlefield 3
- Assassin's Creed 3
- Crysis 3
- The Elder Scrolls: Online

These are the main specs of the computer:
Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-3330 processor (3,00 GHz, 6 MB cache)
Memory (RAM): 8GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz
Graphic Card: NVIDIA® GeForce GT 640 (1GB)
Hard Drive: 2 TB SATA-hard drive (7200 rpm)

On what settings would I be able to play the games and how many FPS would I get on those settings with and without Fraps? Please reply something like this example:
DayZ, Medium 60 FPS, High 50 FPS, Ultra 20 FPS
BattleField 3, Medium 50 FPS, High 40 FPS
etc.

I know that for Crysis 3 you need a very good graphic card so I'm not sure if this PC can even run that game at all, but please post what you think it will run on. (I know some games aren't released yet, but I will be playing them when they are)
Thanks.

Is a 256GB SSD + a 2TB HDD good for a gaming laptop?

Yes. 2TB HDD and virtually any amount of SSD is more than good enough for a gaming computer. However, you should also make sure that you're getting atleast an i5(5th Gen.) or RYZEN.Also, make sure you have enough RAM atleast 8 GB. Try and have slots that are not soldered in the computer thus allowing you to upgrade RAM later. See that your RAM modules are atleast DDR3, 4 is better but you can still have good experiences with 3.Lastly and most importantly, make sure you have a good GPU. Anything above Nvidia 940m floats amateur gaming requirements with ease.Pro tip: if all your specs are good insist for an HDMI port to play your games on a monitor of your choice!
