Put Crystals In Water And Black Stuff Started Forming

Are quartz crystals aquarium safe?

I have some clear quartz, some rose quartz, some amethyst, and some colored glass bottles that I want to put in my tank... I am worried about the stones more than the glass, because I have heard many people put glass bottles in their tanks just as long as I boil the labels off.

Has anyone ever put crystals in their tank before? I know not to put things like geodes in with limestone on them, but everything seems pure except the amethyst which has some sort of black stone left from which it grew off of... and has some veins of the same stuff... Could I just sand it off with a dremel tool?

Can something (metal) rust underwater?

Usually, "rust" refers to iron, and yes, iron can rust under water. The formation of rust requires iron, water and oxygen. There are three forms of rust, depending upon where it is formed.
Fe(OH)3 --- rust formed under water
FeO(OH) --- the most common form of rust. Forms when iron is exposed to air and water.
Fe2O3 --- dehydrated rust. Found in arid environments.

4Fe(s) + 3O2(aq) + 6H2O(l) --> 4Fe(OH)3(s) ..... rust formed under water
4Fe(s) + 3O2(g) + 2H2O(l) --> 4FeO(OH)(s) .... the most common form of rust
2FeO(OH) ---> Fe2O3 + H2O .... the reaction for the dehydrate of rust

This makes no sense. At least it doesn't make sense to have NaCl and H+ on both sides. They will simply cancel out to leave...
Fe(s) + H2O(g) --> FeO(s) + H2(g)
While thermodynamically favorable at 25C (barely), the rate of reaction is so slow that no reaction appears to occur. Only when superheated steam is based through incandescent (so hot it glows) iron tubes do you get a measurable rate of reaction. Therefore, there is no chance of iron metal reacting with liquid water. At liquid temperatures up to 100C, oxygen MUST be present to cause iron to rust.

Also in liquid water you wouldn't get FeO or Fe2O3. The metal oxide (should it form, which it won't) would hydrolyze to form solid Fe(OH)2 or Fe(OH)3. I'm afraid Odimwit's idea for the oxidation of iron in water without oxygen is all wet.

What are the black spots at the bottom of my water bottle? Is it harmful? What should I do?

It is probably algae. When you store water in your bottle for too long and do not wash them on regular basis, then it is quite a usual thing to occur. And this is not healthy, although it does not seem to effect the water, but eventually the newly filled water is helping them to grow. Another possibilty is if you are filling your bottle from the same tap/water filter over and over again, and if that happens to have algae inside.Things that you should do:-Wash the bottle with bleach and water. If it's too deep, get a long brush to reach the bottom.-Keep the bottle in sunlight sporadically for drying-Get the sources cleaned from where you are filling the bottle

Why does my sweat crystallize after it has dried?

Sweat is a mixture, or a solution of things dissolved in water. Just about everything that comes out of the body is carried by water because that's just how we are.Sweat contains various salts, as well as Urea (or uric acid) which is a stable form of nitrogen waste created by muscles and protein digestion.As the sweat dries the water molecules evaporate out, but other molecules are solid at room temperature, so as the amount of water decreases they stay in solution and get closer and closer. As the water completely evaporates these solids (salts and others) remain forming the crystals you observe on your skin.Obviously how oily your skin is, and how long you have been sweating, as well as other factors can all increase or decrease the extent to which you see these  phenomena.Runners usually soak through their shirts, but if you leave the shirt in the sun it won't turn hard with salt crystals.also some of the material seen when sweat evaporates but there wasn't a lot of sweat in the first place is probably dirt and other stuff that was on the skin and simply got carried by the water. Similar to streaks on your car windshield after it rains lightly

How do you know when crystal meth is fake?

It has a taste to it that a user would know. It's hard to describe. The best indicator is when you don't get high. Trust and believe if you buy from street dealers especially black people (not all) but most you'll get ripped off. I'm not racist I'm just being reaI. I lived in San Diego & LA and alot of the black dealers don't understand the concept of repeat business, it comes from good product and customer service and not robbing you or cutting it way to hard. Always stepping over dollars to pick up nickels. Find a good connect through someone you know that can recommend them and show them respect and that you're a solid dude and not a sketchy weirdo that can't be trusted and that's that.

What is the white stuff that appears on noodles after they've been refrigerated?

Whenever I cook spaghetti, I refrigerate the leftover noodles after wards. After refrigeration for at least a day, the noodles have a white, fat-like looking, slimy substance on them. Usually I rinse them in hot water, most of it rinses off, I reboil the noodles, and then it's completely gone.

It doesn't bother me too much because I know the noodles are clean and it's not mold or anything. I'm just curious as to what it is.

My ears turned green from cheap earrings What do I do? What does it mean??

It means you're allergic to nickel. The green will sometimes come of will rubbing alcohol, but from now on, don't buy earrings with nickel in them. Claires offers a line of earrings that don't have nickel in them (Marketed as "sensitive solutions", I believe, or something similar.) Buy only silver/gold/other quality metal earrings, and make sure that if you buy silverplated necklaces or bracelets that you pay attention to if the plating is coming off, since the exposed nickel will turn your skin green. You can cover the exposed nickel with clear nail polish to prevent this.

Dark, hard stool, constipation?

The last time I had a diarrhea was last Saturday or Sunday.. It's Saturday today, and I think ever since this Tuesday or Wednesday, I started forcing myself to poop. (I don't remember pooping normal poop this week... or maybe I did..)

Anyways, the poop has been hard, and their shape is like pebbles. Since my mom has put this anti-bacterial thing in the toilet water, it's blue... So I can't really see the colour, but it looks kinda dark.

* I know I drink VERY little water

Besides seeing the doctor, what food can i take to soften the poop and like yeah.... AND, is it possible that it's constipation? I mean, I DO poop, but it's by force, and it's only a little.
