Putting I Have A Dream In A Speech

I have to write a speech about dreams??

My English class is writing speeches about any topic we'd like, as long as it informs the audience. I picked dreams, and I basically know what I'm going to do and what facts I'm using...But I really need some help putting it all together and making it sound good. I need help writing a good "attention getter" for my first sentence, and a strong thesis statement. My three main points I'm going to focus on are: What a dream is, meanings of common dreams, and nightmares. Also, I'm not sure how to conclude it. It has to be atleast a minute long speech...

Any ideas that could help me out?
All help would be appreciated!

In Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech, "I Have a Dream," what were the persuasive techniques?

I have to know what the techniques are:
-Testimonial
-Citing Authority
-Bandwagon
-Glittering Generalities
-Emotional Appeals

I also know how Martin Luther King Jr. used it and where did he used it

Thanks!!!

What does masterbating in a dream mean?

MASTURBATION is part of EXPLICT SEX dreams. What we need to understand first about dreams is that they use all sorts of situations as metaphors, as figures of speech, as likenesses. The dream does actually the same thing as we do in our waking language with one DIFFERENCE: while we will use words in our everyday language the dream will use mainly pictures or DRAMATISATIONS of situations.

To give you an EXAMPLE: When we feel great, when we feel high we exclaim: “Today I am on CLOUD NINE!” Everybody understands this and knows that you simply mean that you are feeling HIGH. But when the dream puts you on a cloud and has you sailing through the heavens everybody says: “What a weird dream, what crazy stuff!”

It is neither weird nor crazy; it is just a different way of communicating. Imagine that you are a cat in the wild. You will have not human words in your mind, but you will have pictures in your head instead. These pictures will tell you exactly what to do when you meet a wild dog. You will see yourself up on a tree before you even can move and then you will follow this prompt and claw your way up onto the tree to save yourself. As a human being in the same situation you will think: “I’ll climb the nearest tree” and then do it.

Now there is something rather curious about dreams I must admit. This is the fact that they will tell you that you are going to have sex with a man for instance by showing him putting his key into the lock of your house and then entering it. The dream represents you as the house. The rest is for your imagination to work out.

When the dream wants to tell you that you will be masturbating it will have you handling something. When your HANDS pick fruit or flowers or stack tomatoes into a box (!) you will be masturbating.

And here comes the curious thing: When the dream wants to tell you that you will be getting on (!) with someone in an amiable (loving) way, it will show you having sex with that person. In waking reality you will not have sex with that person, but you will GET ON (!) famously with him/her.

The same is true when you are shown to be masturbating in your dreams. It does not suggest that you will be masturbating when you wake up. Instead it is telling you that you are in need of much love and comforting and that for the present you can only get it by loving and comforting yourself, and that need not be done in a sexual manner!

Evaluate my informative speech?

4: Glycine keeps you in bed - “Your brain releases glycine, which paralyses your muscles to stop you acting out these dreams,” says Dr Patricia Garfield.

And I don't know a conclusion so i'll probably wing that tomorrow but thanks for taking the time to look at the rest of it.

I had a dream where I was being injected with a syringe on my hand. I quickly woke up but I could still feel the pain for few moments. How is it possible?

Can I suggest that it is possible that the order that things happened in is a little different? It would seem more likely that you had a pain in your hand, we can infer that it was a sharp pain, possibly a movement inducing a pain in your hand, or its position being uncomfortable for a period of time.In the course of this pain developing, while you slept, your dreaming mind then wove the pain data into your dream and so you experienced a dream in which you were being injected - that is your brain made sense of the pain with a logical explanation during the dream. Therefore, the implication that you dreamt of a needle, an injection and that the imagined pain stayed with you after waking is probably mistaken. An illustration which you may relate to, on many occasions I have dreamed that a bell is ringing, or a telephone, and experienced a detailed elaborate dream involving the bell, or phone - including the apparent backstory, the brain works very, very fast - only to wake up to my alarm, or phone, ringing. This phenomena is quite common, and seems to me to be a logical explanation for your experience.Best wishes
