Question About Apple Updates And Login

Can we sue Apple for updates that ruin the phone?

When you set up your phone on your computer through iTunes you OKed a user agreement that said (had you bothered to read it) that jailbreaking would not be allowed or compatible with new software. This has to do with the phone itself, not the service provider, the agreement you OKed was with Apple. So no, you cannot sue. If you did not want to agree to the terms and conditions of Apple, then you didn't have to and could have returned the phone. You do not have a legal right to own an iPhone, so therefore none of your rights were violated by the terms and conditions agreement.

You cannot sue because you are unhappy with a product. We have a free market economy, and you are free to purchase products from another company if you so choose. Same applies for the battery and signal arguments, don't like the product, then buy from another company.

As for the US saying jailbreaking is legal, all that means is that you can do so if you wish at your own risk, and cannot be criminally punished for jailbreaking the phone. The US law only prevents the Government from punishing you, it doesn't require Apple to provide software updates that are compatible with jailbroken phones.

Not sure about why you cant put music on your phone that you bought from other places either. I have tons of CDs that I uploaded to my computer and transferred to the iPhone.

What do you do if you forget the security questions for your Apple id?

Apple will not let you access your account if you’ve forgotten the answers to your security questions. Even if you call support the support representative will be unable to help you without the correct answers to your security questions. There is no latitude here. The operators do not see your answers and are unable to give you hints or accept “close” answers, because all they can do is fill in the answers in a form. If the answer is wrong, they are just as locked out of your account as you are. This system is broken. There is nothing you can do. You will lose access to your account. If you attempt to reset your security questions you will be prompted to answer your security questions first. Yes, this is obviously crazy, but it’s true. Either you will be prompted for your existing answers before resetting them, or you will see a message that says:Cannot Reset Security QuestionsWe don’t have sufficient information to reset your security questions.Either way you are permanently locked out of your account. End of story. Apple will not help you. It appears as though Apple is not even aware of this problem and are insensitive to it’s catastrophic nature. Why they don’t just send a verification email to your appleid email is beyond me. The system is seriously broken, and more people need to complain to Apple so that they fix it!I’m an Apple developer, and even I have lost accounts this way.

Question about Apple business days?

I ordered the new Lion update and the description said it'd take 1-3 business days for me to get it via email. Does this mean i'll have to wait until monday?

Apple iPhone Upgrade Program Question?

I don't know if this is a dumb question or a question with an obvious answer but the apple website is pretty much down bc of the iPhone launch tonight/tomorrow, and I cannot do much research on it. Anyway, does the iPhone upgrade program add on to my verizon bill? Like is it a separate thing to pay for or does it all pay for itself through the iPhone upgrade program?

Year 9 maths question?

Choose one apple from the bag labeled Green Red. If it is a red apple, that must be the Red Red bag (since it CAN'T be the Green Green bag because you pulled out a red apple, and it can't be the Red Green bag since it is mislabeled). If so, then the bag labeled Green Green (which we know isn't Green Green OR Red Red) must be the Green Red bag, which leaves the bag labeled Red Red as the Green Green bag.

On the other hand, if you pull a green apple from the Green Red labeled bag, it must be the Green Green bag, in which case the Red Red labeled bag has to be Green Red, and thus forces the Green Green labeled bag to be the Red Red bag.

How do you fix the iOS problem "this update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled"? What is causing this problem?

The solution is to call Apple and they will switch the app ownerships to the right accounts for you. They will give you replacement app codes which will grant you ownership to the correct account. You are good to go.No explanation is needed on your part to Apple customer service: It seems to be a common issue and they are very helpful and quickly solve it for you; I was pleased. You cannot yet do this without calling Apple; if someone finds a way to solve this without calling, please comment and I will change my answer.Update: Took about 30 minutes and was somewhat of a manual process, but the quick steps I mentioned above solved my issue and it has not come up again; it's been 8 months.

Why can't I reset my MacBook Pro login password using my Apple ID credentials? I usually don't have a problem with that but MacBook now just won't accept my Apple ID credentials.

I had something similar earlier today. After logging into iCloud and changing my ID (email) and password, I went back to my Mac/iPhone/iPad and kept getting messages about signing in to iCloud. **The trick is to sign out of all of these services, including iTunes/App Store, before changing anything.** In the end, iCloud accepted my new passport and allowed me to sign out then back in with my new credentials. Be sure to accept the offer to ‘Keep’ data for Reminders, Calendars, etc. on each device. Then choose ‘Merge’ data when you sign in again.
