Question About Honor Roll

Question about the honor roll at school?

My school website posted the honor roll and it was divided into three sections (first honors, second honors, and third honors) and I was listed under Third Honors.

What kind of grades do each of those categories require? In other words how many A's/B's do you need to be in first honors, how many A's/B's do you need to be in second honors, and how many A's/B's do you need to be in third?

Also, what does citizenship mean?
My name wasn't listed under citizenship :/

Thanks!

Honor Roll?

Heck Yeah 3 years in a row

Honor Roll?

Usually "honor roll" and "honors" are two different things. Honors usually is taking certain classes, getting certain grades, getting good test scores (ACT/SAT), etc.

It's always great to graduate with something like honors. Any extra thing with give you positive points, possibly making the difference between you and another person. Also consider taking AP classes if they're offered at your school.

If you want more information, talk to your counselor or class advisor. Upperclassmen can be helpful, too.

High school GPA/Honor roll question?

ok in my school all you need it nothing below a B- and a GPA of a 3.1 or better (3.7 for high honor roll)

But it doesn't say anything about weighted or unweighted.

I got a 3.55 unweighted. (I don't know but i would think it would go to a 3.7 weighted)

Do you think that its unweighted to be on high honor roll? (so 3.7 unweighted, or 3.7 weighted)

I think im going to ask the school later, but i just wanted to know what you guys thought.

Is it good to get on honor roll?

It's great to be on honor roll. It is great to mention on job applications/interviews when you get older. The difficulty really depends on your school and the teachers. If they don't have high standards and give students an A even if they don't deserve it, then it's not that much of an achievement. It sounds like you work hard to get on honor roll, so for that, good job and keep up the hard work! I'm in college now and I was always on A/B honor roll. I graduated with a 3.9 GPA. Pay attention in class, work hard, and turn in work on time. That's how I got good grades.

If I have all A's, do I get on the honor roll? Does being on the honor roll require extracurricular activities too?

Honor roll is for grades alone. I was on the honor roll one year and I had 44 absences in my 4th period class. It was right before lunch and I liked to go early most days so I ditched it quite often. It was a remedial English class and I really should have been placed in something a little more challenging, because despite my truancy, I was still able to maintain an A in the class. Simply by showing up a couple times a week, and doing all the work assigned for that week, during the scheduled hour, during the one or two, or sometimes three days a week that I would actually bother to show up. This was back in 1991, and the next year I heard that they changed the rules about attendance so as not to allow for such behavior. I personally still dont see a problem with it, as long as the work is being completed, and im maintaining the highest grade possible, who is it hurting?

I didn't make Honor Roll....?

That is just like my situation. I'm in 8th grade too and I made honor roll my WHOLE life but this year for the first two quarters, I got all A's and 1 C.. in Algebra. I hid those two report cards from them and got a huge beating when they found out. Now how is this relevant? Well, maybe it isn't but just know to never hide it from them because trust me when I say this, They WILL find out. I'm your age, 13 turning 14 in May so you know I'm not a silly adult saying to tell your parents. But tell your parents. They said when they found out that they were proud of me because I am in high school classes like Algebra and IPS science. Stuff like that.

Think of it this way: you are in the higher percentile of your school! there are some dumb kids that get D's and F's and C's straight while you are getting all A's with only 1 C. Trust me when I say this, even if your parents dont say this, they are proud of you for getting A's and they believe that you are trying. And if they yell at you, just say that if they went to your school trying to do the work and homework and test you do, they won't pass because their mind is lacking education from many years from school and at work . They can't do the stuff you do. If your teachers are disappointed in you, say, "If you can't even TEACH all 7 subjects, how do you expect us to LEARN all 7 subjects and get the BEST of grades." Its true. With all the homework and studying (or not studying) we have sports and extracurricalar course you are taking.

Plus the grades that REALLY matter was the FCAT writes that passed and the grades that you get in highschool. Try to get all A's in the fourth quarter and you'll be the best of the finest. Trust me, you'll be fine.

You should be proud of all the stuff you do. That is how i think of it when I'm discouraged by my grades.

By the Way. What school do you go to?

I didn't get honor roll?..?

Usually I always get honor roll but for the last quarter I didn't. I'm really ashamed, and I can tell my dad is really disappointed in me. I hate it. I feel so bad, like I let them down. My brother doesn't get honor roll and my dad never gets disappointed in him. My mom is going to be really disappointed when she finds out too. They are gonna be mad at me. I don't know what to do. I'm crying and I just need help. Any advice?

Why didn't I get honor roll?

Like the other answers mentioned, it might be due to the 2 C's you had on your transcript or it might even be because of your grade point average. Back in middle school, we had to get a 3.5 GPA or higher to even get our names on the Honor Roll. It might be a bit different for your school, but talk to a teacher and check.

"...it has been 6 months since then."

But you really should move on. If you had asked within a few weeks after the ceremony, it would've made sense, but it's been a whole six months. You can go and ask, but even if you had made it onto the Honor Roll, going through the trouble for just a certificate, after all this time, is a bit silly. These types of awards will make no difference on your transcript once you get into high school. Colleges won't even look at them. They're nice for now, but when you're 30 years old, being on the Honor Roll in 7th grade is nothing to brag about.
