Question About My Cats

Do cats ask questions?

Of course they ask questions.
"When are you getting up?"
"When are you going to feed me?"
"When can I go out?"
"When can I go in?"
"Where are the treats?"
"Why are you filling the bathtub with water while I'm locked in the bathroom with you?"

My cat Jumped on the wood stove? paws question?

That happened to me once in my entire lifetime, and I don't need another scare like that ever again. In my case, it was a cat lusting after a rib roast he had smelled baking all day. The minute I opered the oven door, he jumped on it and, like yours, immediately sprung off with a yeowl.

It was Christmas Day and before the days of emergency vet clinics. He seemed to be OK, and I had no choice but to wait until the next day. He was fine thanks to his quick feline reflexes. Don't upset yourself. Do watch for blistering or other sign of injury. I would be careful not to put anything on there that might not taste very good to your cat, because you know he is going to try to lick it off the minute you do.

Question about my cat and her oddly short tail?

Nothing is wrong, it's like with humans, no two alike, some have longer fingers than others, bigger eyes, ears, shorter legs, etc.
Doesn't mean a thing.
Now if her tail is really short like 3" or less then the cat could be a short-tailed breed or mixed with one of the short-tail breeds (manx or bobtail, etc)

I am beginning to question my cat’s motives for cuddling me. Can cats actually manipulate people?

What a question.Everything alive is attempting to manipulate everything it comes into contact with. In fact, you could probably use the attempt to manipulate as evidence of life.Sure your cat is trying to manipulate. It wants more love, it wants more of those wonderful human fingers scratching him under his chin and petting him, it wants more treats, it wants more food, it wants tastier food, it wants to be let in and out of the home to outside at whim.Every person you interact with is attempting to get something from you, even if it is only a pleasant interaction. The more important question is about ‘fair value’Do you enjoy your cat? Does petting the cat make you feel good? Do you find your cat’s personality interesting? Do you feel your cat is a presence in your home that helps prevent loneliness and helps you feel connected to another living being? If so, you are getting fair value for feeding and caring for your pet.

Is it wrong to love my cats more than my family?

We love our pets because their love is unconditional and there’s no artifice in the relationship. Human relationships are complex, but our relationships with pets are refreshingly straightforward.I remember seeing James Bowen and Bob (of A Street Cat Named Bob fame) in an interview, and the interviewer asked what makes their bond so strong.James went down the list, then said: “And he’s never dishonest with me….well, except when it comes to food.”And that pretty much sums it up.In general, what do cats really want from us? Food, attention and affection. When your cat falls asleep in your lap or kneads on you, she’s not trying to butter you up to buy her a new toy. She does it because she trusts and loves you. Cats can be aggressive, but never passive aggressive. They won’t take their bad day out on you or be mean to you because they’re angry at someone else. From my own experience, if I accidentally step on my cat’s tail, it’s settled with an “I’m sorry little guy!”, a stroke of his forehead, and a purring nuzzle from him to signal my apology’s been accepted. He’s never going to be angry with me an hour afterward because I hurt him, and the only thing he ever hounds me for is food. What I’m getting at here is that our relationships with our cats are different than our relationships with people. I believe we love them in different ways. I love my cat in a protective and gentle way, like he’s my best friend/little brother, but I love my family and my human friends in much different ways. Likewise, the love I feel for my friends isn’t the same as the love I’ve felt in relationships.I suspect that when it comes down to it, you love your cat and your closest friends/family all the same where it counts. It’s just that human relationships have an ebb and flow, ups and downs, positives and negatives. With a cat, it’s never going to be that complicated. And I wouldn’t worry about whether it’s “wrong” to feel a certain way — instead, just appreciate your furry little friends and the time you have with them.

Why does my cat "vibrate"?

Her chest always vibrates like she has worms of something in her. is it normal? when she vibrates she makes a tiny vibrate noise and its scaring me because it doesnt seem normal!

Is my cat okay?

She’s been hiding in small dark places for the past couple weeks and she’s not eating or drinking often and when she leaves her hiding place she seems to have no energy and she’s not walking straight and peeing on the floor

What happens if my cat eats dog food?

If it happens just once in a while it is no problem. Cats are obligate carnivores meaning they only eat meat. They also need Taurine in their diet. Food specific to cats is what they need. Dogs are omnivores meaning they can have vegetables in their diet and not suffer from it the way cats would. This is something the pet food industry just doesn’t seem to get. I am amazed at all the cat foods on the market that contain grains and vegetables…ingredients cats don’t need.I only feed canned high protein cat food to my cats and have high protein dry food for them to nibble on during the day. Before I switched to these foods, my cats were throwing up all the time. I learned too late that it is because the cheap cat foods in the grocery store had an excess of grains which they had a hard time digesting and also caused my oldest cat to get diabetes. Once I switched, he lost weight, went into remission, and they all stopped throwing up.Also, although high protein cat foods cost more, it also provides them more condensed nutrients they need so they eat less of it. The cost is mostly balanced out and the benefit of their improved health makes it worthwhile.

Why is my cat so cute?

Many societies have depended on stored food for most of each year. This includes societies in mid to high latitudes, and societies that depend on annual rains and floods. These include not coincidentally Egypt, where cats evolved from knee-high wild cats still found in north Africa.Even now, I read somewhere, rodents eat about a third of the food that people raise for themselves, and the situation would have been much worse with longer-term storage and primitive building. Therefore, cats were important to keep down the rodents. In any predator-prey relationship, the predators cannot reduce their prey to a very low level without another food supply. Rather, when the prey is reduced to low levels, the predators starve or go elsewhere. Therefore, cats could reduce rodents to a low level only if people fed them.Feeding cats was particularly important just before harvest, because then humans’ food supplies would be low and so would rodent numbers. But when the harvest came in, rodents would multiply much faster than cats would. For this reason, humans who fed cats prospered more than those who did not. While the above logic would motive this feeding, it would take more than logic to ensure that humans feed cats even when the humans are hungry. For this reason, humans evolved toward instinctively loving cats.Since cats benefited from this behavior, they evolved to stimulate it more, as Ryan Nelson has already explained. They had a head start (haha) because they have large eyes (from being nocturnal) and short muzzles, and that may have helped start their and our mutual evolution toward close relationship.
